  • Rachmaninoff's did an astounding job in this vocalise! This is such a powerful demonstration of his feelings, I can feel the different emotions going through him while he was creating this song, its so powerful and passionate, I feel like just sitting and listening to it over and over again, its so sad but breathtakingly beautiful. Thank you for posting it up <3

  • @Lawlscaliburn: I wonder how many people are going to get your Madoka reference.

Aside from that, it's a very beautiful piece. Very touching.

Sulfur is my body, and saltpeter is my blood

I have created over a thousand guns

  • I dont know why but listening to pieces like this always goes with my poetry when i write.

  • @Duggysgurl exactly the same thing happens to me , when i listen to such kind of musical perfection i can't do anything but write when the piece ends i find out that the words i was writing are one of the finest poems i've ever written as if its my own translation to whatever magical sound I'm listening to and not only makes me relaxed but also gives me a large amount of feelings , thoughts and ideas that i use later on with my poetry .

  • @asaszz999 dead on lol it just makes the poetry and writing so much smoother, its unbelievable lol

  • god damn! who is playing this!

  • who's playing? what a straight unsentimental delivery. it's fantastic!

  • Where could i download this beautiful song?

  • i cant find or remember the lyrics to this song. can anyone help me?

  • @seska1245 lame...

  • Violins vibrating to, a glass of, air fainting oceans, pouring water melodies, into empty bottled, literature numbing through, senses heard not, a thirst quenched, in a glass, of bottled harmony, to vibrate violins !

  • @AllegroMusica14

Thanks so much! One last thing- do you know where I could find the piano accompaniment to this same arrangement? I've been looking but all the versions I can find are in C# minor. Thanks again for your help :)

  • Can anyone tell me what key this is vein played in? I'm learning it by ear but I'm pathetic at recognizing keys without actually looking at the music. Also, does anyone know where I can find a transcription of this particular arrangement?

  • @crcm1993 E Minor. As for a transcription:

    imslp [dot] info/files/imglnks/usimg/b/b7/IMSLP36375-PMLP17852-vocalise.pdf

just put a " . " in place of the [dot].

  • music for the soul! thank you for posting.

  • this peace breaks my heart.

    touches me. fantastic. goosebumps.

  • this helped me in biochemistry last semester

  • The begging is similiar to " secret garden".

  • @memas171 This sounds nothing like Secret Garden. It's just the piano and violin combo. Both have different melodies.

  • Have piano/violin version of this song interestingly enough - written in G Major -- (1 sharp F). Have also seen it in D Major as well - 2 sharps (F and C) . Minor variation to say the least, but nonetheless, a slight difference in interpretation.

  • Excellent interpretation by Akiko Suwanai and pianist Phillip Moll.

  • @ronaldjevans do you happen to know if there is a recording of this by Oistrakh somewhere on the internet? Sorry for such a random question. : )

  • Can enlighten this ignorant one ; what does it mean when a piece of a music in "C minor" or "D major" ???Please help :(

  • @taciturnme Hi, C minor is a scale as well as D major. Each scale has a character of its own; meaning: feature of every note whether dias, bimole, or becar. You can google those two scales and see images. Of course, someone with more musical knowledge may help in a more sophisticated way :)..

  • @4028814 thanks :D

  • Minor is dramatic and sad. Major is uplifting and happy. C and D are each the starting/ending note of their relative scales. Each scale has a distinct sound that even people without perfect pitch can pick up on. Almost every classical piece is written with either a minor or major modality, but there's more out there. Modern 'experimental' music is one example that occasionally departs from the norm.

  • @D0g63rt thanks, it's nice when we youtubers help each other out instead of swearing or fighting over "who is better singer, etc". Danke! :)

  • @D0g63rt That is extremely general. Major keys can be sad and minor keys can sound happy. It's all in how you use it. Any chord with extensions of the 7th or greater contains both major and minor triads.

  • @taciturnme

Even though the music denotes one key or scale they often depart from diatonicism through accidentals and also usually contain key changes. The tonal center of the entire piece will however be in the key presented. By tonal center I mean that the conclusion of progressions center around the toanlity of said key.

  • "it is transcribed in a variety of keys, allowing the performer to choose a vocal range..." This doesn't make any sense to me. You can't just shift a piece, even by a half step, and expect it to sound the same. It will sound very different. I guess it depends on the listener.

  • I don't feel sorrow when I listen to this piece. I feel pure beauty, and if anything, joy.

  • I was thinking how familiar this piece sounds when i remembered that i've played a clarinet version of it a LONG time ago, but...this version sounds HEARTBREAKING

  • absolute faviourite.

been looking for this piece everywhere.

  • It feels like a lament from the heart. This piece makes me wanna cry everytime I hear it.

  • @princessgerll

    You found the perfect words..

  • So sorrowful, but so beautiful. :)

I love listening to classical music. Even though most of the recordings are done fairly recently, I always feel like I'm getting a glimpse of the past. I can just see Rachmaninoff writing this...

  • This vocalese is executed perfectly by singer Galina Vasilevna Olejnichenko

I have laid out a record part on the account

  • @bweono

Did rachmaninoff transcribe it for violin or was it someone else?

  • Brilliant.

  • Does anyone know where this was recorded?

  • as a rap fan I enjoy this very much

  • @URB4NR3CON ~ : ) I love rap too but you have to appreciate the finer things in life.

    I like your joke though ( :

  • I love it it's making me so melancholic and peaceful...

  • I love this piece and this playing *****

  • How would a singer do the rills?

  • please does anyone know what is a vocalise?

  • singing exercise: a voice training exercise in which a singer sings using only vowel sounds, especially one single vowel sound

  • @mera103 go to wikipedia D;

  • please does anyone know what is a vocalise?

  • So sad but beautiful at the same time...

  • Prelepo ........

  • there is a rush of blood to my face and heart and goose pimples. after the song is over i realised i have tears. how did this happen ? is there any classical music that makes you happy ?

  • it makes me wander how he felt when he wrote this :/ whats the story behind it?

  • amazing.

  • Lolz nice to know mate :D

  • i study with this on

its an experiment and i think i do better on tests

    :D

  • Haha. I'm doing the same thing. I have a test tomorrow, and when I've been studying I've been listening to classical music. Hopefully this gives us some kind of advantage! :)

  • yeah i know!

    goodluck ;)

  • agreed

  • I've played the violin for years, but I have never tried this piece. This is beautiful!

  • from where do you get this piece???

I need to Kwon because i don't find it,

  • plz rait for my comment so I know you what you think

  • I my opinion i think this musice is very good for people...

  • you are right it is very good for people. reduces monkey like behavior :)

  • I don't know... It is certainly wonderful, but it makes my heart ache, too. So I don't know if it's good for people. Probably it's good at its time.

I'm thankful to the person who first played this to me and think in a way it's good for me.

  • It's fantastic indeed, but needs a lot of tenderness in interpretation to be played well!

It's not as easy as it sounds...

  • Very soothing

  • Amazing how this has no resonance whatsoever to his "Paganini Rhapsody", not even a hint. Usually, the compositions of one artist tend to reflect one another. But this one is like a sweet nocturne.

And yeah, SR was a cute hunk.

  • pure beauty...

  • hmmmm

  • This song is amazing! Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this version? I can't seem to find it on amazon at all :(

  • i love this piece...it could bring me to tears

  • Beautiful !!!

  • Fantastic sound.

  • look at slash playing this
