Ms. Bradley's performance is brilliant and the staging, direction, set design and costumes are exceptional - just right and not over the top. Very well done.
I liked both the singing and the characterization, including that potentially deadly hand of hers. I agree her voice is warmer than most of the others (except Sutherland's) and neither thin or metallic. I thought the coloratura was quite good. 4.5/5
One of the rear colored soprano's singing this role, and also in this performance I hear some different kind of ornamentations. Nice warm voice, not metalic. Wide vocal range, though the closing topnote was unsecure and wobbly. 4/4
I love the production (the fact that he has to keep fixing her is so cute) but her voice kept going flat. Her actual performance got better as it went along.
She has good performance energy, but the voice and technique is rocky. That final note is alarming. Some of the staging bits are good, but why does he keep putting his hands up her dress? That's just not right.
This is from the met telecast. You would think the met would want someone with a little more starpower in this role. I can't say I know anything of this singer. She does a nice job here, the last note goes in and out of pitch. Overwise a nice job. 4.5/5
This soprano is Gwendolyn Bradley. She sang frequently at the MET in the 80's/90's and also in many European Houses including Berlin, Paris, Covent Garden, Dresden, Etc.

That was AMAZING. It was squeaky at 3:42, but other than that, she has a wonderful voice.

What was that high note at the end a F?
Trackstar2000 3 years ago
It was actually a high E-flat.
BRocka2006 3 years ago
the long one at the end is an Eb, however there are several F's, theres a short one at 3:25, and and another at 3:42

I agree her notes get a bit forced at the very top, but I really enjoyed her! Funny and a warm, quite beautiful voice. I'm gonna go for 3.5/5

Her voice is very pleasing, except at the very top. Some of the coloratura is a little sloppy, 3.5/3.5
