  • THIS is great! It's one of my favourite skates out of all! :)

  • @AshleyFan2211 Then you would pay more attention to reading it then watching what the skater is actually doing....

  • I wish the commentaries would just appear as text in a little box below the screen. It seems so disrespectful for them to talk right over the music! I hate that!!

  • i wonder if she can be the next Yuna Kim.. her spins and step sequences are joy to watch, but she needs to improve her jumps if she wishes to go on to the next level.

  • If Nagasu can end the flutzing and be more consistent, she will certainly be a MAJOR threat on the international scene. Her spins are the best in the world today, and she has that inherent joy that Kwan had. I can't wait to see her improve over the coming years.

  • Aww...I remember a couple years ago she went over to my sister's hosue and made eggs fro us because my sister was too lazy.... and getting a free pineapple sorbet at her paren'ts restaurant. it was nice seeing her fulfill her dream on tv.

  • god, that commentator is annoying.

  • her jumps are so high and distinctive...

  • Music, spins, jumps, footwork, personality.. amazing. Love her :) I wish her all the best!

  • WOW, her landings!

  • nailed it :D

  • Comment removed

  • poor thing she's the cutest looking person with a nosebleed. she skated flawlessly but degree of difficulty not at same level as the leaders. perhaps she will be America's best hope for gold.

  • @dhom100 No it definitely was. The only thing is she did a triple lutz double toe combo, but it was actually planned to be a triple triple. Her difficulty was up there. Her PCS is what brought her down here.

  • .nosebleed..xDD..

  • flawless performance for joe hasaishi piece.... fragile of dreams and course POTC

  • sHE'S ONLY 16 MORE BRIGHTER FUTURE TO COME THE GOLD IS AROUND THE CORNER'S..FUTURE CHAMPION

  • i bet in future Olympics she will be in podium

  • the reason why mirai has the most beautiful biellman spin because she has a short body unlike the others got the long body that's why very difficult to the to spin..

  • BRAVORAAAA Asian lady's

  • she is unbelievably flexible! like literally O_O.

  • her nose was bleeding??!!

  • i like how when she skate past the cameras, they follow her!! XD

  • @Quemisious umm yeah they're suppossed to? lol

  • She took fourth and she should have taken 1st or 2nd. Way better than Joannie Rochette or Mao Asada. she was flawless

  • @iFenceU whaaat? Have you watched the competition? Yu-Na Kim took 1st. I love Mirai but come on, she's nowhere near Kim's Level. Asada landed three 3As , that's why she won silver. Rochette had better jump and edge quality and most importantly, mature artistry. I don't see any problem with this podium.

Mirai is a talented skater and placing 4th at the OG at 16 is beyond fantastic. I hope she becomes more consistant (did not make the world team in 2011). I'm looking forward to see her in Sochi.

  • @gabb9262 i did watch the competition. I don't contest that Kim Yu-Na earned 1st place. However, it is my opinion (only my opinion, so don't get mad) that Mirai Nagasu should have placed higher

  • @iFenceU I do respect your opinion, but it just seem to me that at every OG people are trying to create a controversy regarding the rankings. Mirai did amazingly well, but her childish joy and exuberance was immature for Carmen, which is a very dramatic role (I know she was just 16). Mirai's placement and scores were entirely correct and appropriate imho. It was a very strong field and there simply wasn't room at the top for her.

Then again, I LOVE Mirai. Not trying to bash her at all.

  • @iFenceU Mine too. I believe she fully deserved top 3 or top 4 in the SP and if it were up to me she would have won the bronze.

  • makes me proud to know that she went to my school <3

    ARCADIA PRIDE.

  • HI, Can u please put MIRAI LP on again PLEASE?????

  • 63.76?? 69!!!!!!

  • she is soooo amazingly graceful!

  • was she nosebleeding because... she was dehydrated, hurt, or dizzy?

  • @wontonboi64 Its was because she was spining very fast :) happens all tge time

  • @wontonboi64 she stated in an interview that it was bleeding a lot since she arived there because it is a lot dryer than in california.

  • @elenavlada no she doesn't

  • @elenavlada piss off. she's an excellent skater with gorgeous posture, flexibility and speed. oh and for the record, she's not heavy looking so lay off the marijuana while commenting on really good figure skaters, will you?

  • @elenavlada not really

  • @elenavlada I'm not attacking you but do you seriously think an Olympic athlete would be overweight?

  • @TheOblivionfan123 who says she was?, this is figure skating, u have to look elegant and lite . not a frumpy-lumpy mcdonalds fed on skates

  • @elenavlada haha i'll admit that's funny, slightly harsh though because she did everything but the jumps elegantly-jumps aren't her thing her spiral sequence was very graceful. Much better then Kim Yu-na's zero extension positions

  • @elenavlada and with the jumps her posture was perfect going into them and good flow through them just not much elevation on the second jumps in her combinations

  • beautiful

  • She has very clean jump and it's nice to see. She doesn't quite have the height that Yuna Kim has but she makes up for it with her flexibility. I think Mirai is better than Mao,personally, because her jumps are better....I mean Mao's triple axels are kind of under rotated...and without it she doesn't have many jumps down. Mirai is going to grow to be a greater skater.

  • nosebleed!

  • BORING SONG BORING CHOREOGRAPHY,SORRY BUT IM A MIRAI FAN!!!! SHE SHOULD BE MORE DRAMATIC!!!! her clothes doesnt even look that good!!!

    GO FOR GOLD!

  • When did she hurt her nose?

  • @RoyalLocket28 its natural nosebleed. not hurting

  • her legs are too heavy in the eyes, but her soft plum happy face is great for expression!

  • Mirai's spin is more like a layback haircutter- the skate blade is right near her head, the leg is flexed sharply, and she transitions into a Biellmann quite effortlessly using both hands.

Caroline's pearl has the leg more extended, so her head in the layback is closer to the back of the knee or her hamstring. She needs the strength of both arms to extend the attitude leg, while a haircutter needs only one hand to support it.

Both have a superficial similarity because of their extreme laybacks.

  • She's so awesome, talented and such a sweetheart! I wish her all the best! cute smile! :) she seems so relaxed and happy! bravo, Mirai!

  • nagasu nicht nasagu

  • programs go by so fast :I

  • This is so awesome. Mirai is amazing. Poor thing she got a nosebleed! I read an interview she did after the short and she said that the air in Canada was drier than California. She said that she had nosebleeds a lot while she was in Vancouver.

  • we love you mirai && we're so proud that youre from arcadia !

  • "the future" indeed. 2012 world champ, 2013 world champ, 2014 gold medalist & world champ, and so much more.

  • Better & cuter than Yuna Kim

  • And I thought U.S. commentators were annoying....

  • Is that just me, or is that blood on the tip of her nose at the end? Did she nick it with her blade?

  • @jfluter Apparently she got a nose bleed from spinning too fast

  • Her smile's adorable!!!

  • ya, she skates at my rink, im cool

  • she spun so fast she gave herself a nosebleed! at the next olympics she'll definitely be on the podium =)

  • @onice331 Actually, i think she should have been on the podium at this Olympics. I believe the only reason she didn't make it was because the judges took pity on Joannie Rochette, when clearly, Mirai had a much better skate. :)

  • @1cakesz no i definately agree with you. rochette didn't have a very clean skate at all.

  • from 2:57 she did 43 spins in a ROW OMG

  • 3:25 OUCH! STILL SMILING AFTER THAT CUT! OMG OUCH! GREAT JOB MIRAI

  • Mirai deserved much higher scores, and she would have gotten them if she'd skated in the later groups. If it were up to me she would have been in 3rd or 4th after the SP and certainly not BEHIND Rachael Flatt who benefited from a later skate imo.

  • @faeryquene Yes, of course...but I think Joannie Rochette being in third after the LP had a lot more to do with Mirai not medaling. The judges definitely played PC there, but I can't really blame them. Mirai's technical score in the LP beat Joannie's by more than 3 points, but in the "Program Components" score (the more interpretive of the scores), Joannie out-performed Mirai by 8 points. I can't help it...I feel like the judges gave Joannie extre credit for performing well under stress.

  • what happened to her nose? did she hit it?

  • @Ardenis9 They were saying she spun so fast it caused a nose bleed.

  • @faeryquene really..thats weird. I mean Ive seen faster spins (not that it wasnt fast, just saying..)

  • can you upload her freeskaging at the olympics?

  • i wouldve atleast given her 67 points or so.. its such a good program!

  • Mirai did really well in this program. She could've goy higher marks for this.

  • Her programs this year were so much better than they are this year. Too bad she's not even going to Worlds!

  • thanx for uploading this video! well, can u upload Mirai's LP as well?

  • woo! I love to watch her skate! Btw, can someone tell me her boot and blade make? I would really love 2 know

  • I really love this and think Mirai should have won the bronze medal, in fact I think she DID win it but Joannie's tears and truly tragic story moved the judges to award it to her instead. In any case if Mirai thinks her time hasn't come yet look out world when it does. She is awesome!! So young, performing on the world's biggest stage with a nose bleed yet and still delivers. WOW!

  • @kwansansog I think Joannie won the Bronze medal fair and square and i love Mirai. Mirai was too far back after the SP to take the Bronze. Joannie's tragic story had nothing to do with her winning a medal. She just skated slightly better then Mirai overall.

  • @dsfddsgh Arggggggggggggghhhhhh I forgot about the short program factor. I guess it was kind of a toss up but either way it's great. Joannie skating as beautifully as she did and Mirai's sensational 1st appearance on that level...Joannie DID deserve the bronze and these two young women did so well that I think it best to just enjoy than argue:):):) And I will concede that while the difference was slight as you said Joannie earned it fair and square.

  • @kwansansog I have to say i've watched a lot of skating in the last 30 plus years but that night was maybe the greatest night of skating in Olympic history for the Ladies competition for a final group. Not even one fall between the six skaters.

  • @kwansansog ITA.

  • That voice commentating sounds very familiar....Tanja Szewczenko?

  • She had a nosebleed at the end of that? Wow.

  • I think I've just witnessed Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen and Shizuka Arakawa being merged, getting a new body with the cutest smile in the world and skating a beautiful program :D

P.S. It might be just me... but was that Bielman or Pearl? I think it looked much like Caroline Zhang's pearl ^^

  • @Uhlanga Well, a Bielmann is the part that's the upright catchfoot, Caroline does it too at the end of her layback. The Pearl is only when Caroline is in a layback and a catchfoot, once she pulls it up it's a Bielmann so Mirai sort of does a 1-handed pearl, it's a variation on what's called a haircutter.

  • @Uhlanga a beillmann is basically the pearl spin in an upright position. and pearl is like a stretched out haircutter. so that spin is a layback-sideways leaning-haircutter-beillmann

  • @Uhlanga it was a haircutter into a beillmann. she just has really good back flexibility so it looks kinda like a pearl thats not stretched out like caroline's

  • @Uhlanga It looked a Pearl, going into a Bielman, but I could be wrong. I can't do either move, so I can't really judge.

  • @Uhlanga that was NOT a pearl!!! ugh everyone always says that but a pearl is a biellmann spin in a layback position instead of upright. she did a catch foot then biellmann

  • @Figureicee You've just answered to a comment I had made NINE FREAKIN MONTHS AGO! I got it already, people! I GOT IT.. I've been answered several times already, Why don't you all just give me thumbs down so that the comment is hidden, for heaven's sake.

  • @Uhlanga beilman is with the leg up, pearl is like in a harder position of a haircutter and she did both

  • I always notice how good her posture is going into jumps.

  • I'm so waiting for the "Clean it up coke whore!" comments... she's freaking awesome!
