I have the same evacuated tubes and I plan on using 1/2" and 3/4" copper pipe for the heat pipe. How much acetone should I use and can you use to little or to much acetone in the heat pipe?

I just ran across this video today and I loved it, great ideas. One safety comment though, you should never grind copper on a grinder. The build up in the wheel can cause the stone wheel to explode, I have a friend who lost the use of his hand because someone did this. However a flat file would work great.

How much did the glass tubes cost you on ebay?

In this design you're creating a greenhouse around pipes full of liquid, but having each individual pipe encased in it's own glass tube greenhouse is for a trough type of application, you've duped yourself by building that..

@boardin202 maybe if you used 1/4 size pipe and could find ebows to make the U i was going to try 3/8 but it is to big

Rich, you do a great job with your videos. You've got an awesome system here as well. Something I recently learned and I wanted to say is that if there is anyway you can locate your tubes in such a way that the hot water pipes can go up hill to your house. Then the hottest water will naturally flow by convection currents right into your home without a circulation pump.

pre 1982 pennies are copper...newer pennies are mostly zinc. ...great video btw..its great to see this project.

hey rich get acetelyne or map gas instead of propane and some silver solder(copper brazing rod) and some flux for that and you can braze those points where the bullets go through the couplings directly to the collection pipes. Much better heat exchange. Cool use of common materials though. Great job!!
