I Love Love Love this movie SOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo­oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo­ooooooooooooooo much! The soundtrack, the actors, the cinematography, the landscape chosen etc etc ... i could go on and on. Franco Zefferelli - what a GENIUS!!! His movies are so beautiful and meaningful such as his 1968 classic depiction of Romeo and Juliet

I don't blame you one bit and Zefferelli was a brilliant director. I first learned about Saint Francis from a Comic book Marvel did about his life. It was astonishing. They also did one about Pope John Paul II. So you see you can learn something great from even the smallest things.

Funny how God works that way isn't it?

I read the Gospels in a comic book of my uncle's from the '40's put out by Wm Gaines, who later started MAD magazine. And it was one of the most inspiring reads of my life! I saw this movie 10 times or more during a very brief job as a theater manager when it was playing. I loved it then, but I've been wondering if it was dated, just a relic of the old hippie days. I'm happy to see it is so beloved and destined to be a classic.
