  • Amazing. So hard hitting and yet so simple.

  • THIS CHILD HAS TOUCHED MY HEART SO MUCH, IM FULL OF TEARS

  • The very best speech I've EVER heard!

  • Little leaders with pure intentions like this should be the ones that rule the world...she has my vote ! not the sad old mentally ill like bush & his friends from bohemia grove ! good news is that wonderful little thing called karma is alive & well & evens the score magnificently every time ! corrupt & greedy governments/corporations who ruin & waste the earths resources will soon be gone...replaced by good & pure leadership ! GOOD always wins over evil in the end ! so let world begin to heal !

  • I believe they were clearly warned by GOD through her. They can't say they didn't know now. GOD bless this Earth- even the evil souls to wake them up out of their slumber. GOD save us all. Allah Akbar. Peace is the way. Live for something greater than yourselves and speak up my brothers and sisters!

  • dam, best thing ive heard in years from a child, if only the rest of the billions on this earth knew what she was talking about there would be a difference, but now and days everyone is for themselves and fall to there knees before the corrupted government and bankers. G.O.D (Gold, Oil, and Drugs)

  • fuck the united nations

  • this is incredible. i am 13 and agree with her completely. she is saying what us kids have been thinking all our lives. thumbs up if you are going to spread this video around, make sure everyone gets the message!!!

  • simply wow. and still people have not realized the importance of her message.

who is she btw? what hapenned to her?

  • All these words of wisdom and still people don't practice positivity!

what's even worst is this video was done back in 1997 and it's now 2010,

    have anything change?

  • like they give a shit...they rather kidnap, rape and kill girls like these. For the elite, we are just catle,expendable...Always trying to get regular people feeling guilty when it's them who have the power to change our world...but they don't...one must ask himself; why, why...why do they want us to feel like that, why, why, why....

  • she was right look at the shit we got ourselves into

  • @seuruso affraid to give up your wealth

  • @alijahg34 well, may i ask you, what wealth? you mean my clothes..cause i got not much else on...na, i just don´t like titles like "the girl who silence the world" especially if it is done on the UN...wich is the lamest of all globalization process

  • animals and plants get extint even if there were no mankind....we didnt kill all the animals and plants, did we?....this is so lame lame lame

  • @seuruso

Are you even listening to what she is saying? she was talking about not our very existence, but what we do while we exist. How we pollute the air with our cars, cut down trees for wood, etc. All of the things we do, (decide to do) is ruining the habitat that we ourselves have to love in. The place that you yourself have to live in, too. You drive a car, probably. So, don't you ever think about what animal is suffering as you drive to work, or wherever you may be going? I do. I'm 12.

  • where are all the other members of this conference? why are there so many seats empty? i wonder how old this girl is now and what she has already achieved! she's an amazing speaker!

  • wow. maannnn that was good <3

  • and 18 years later, no one gives a fuck. People have gotten even more corrupt, people are still dieing, and the world is becoming more polluted.

  • @HugoIStayHere Help her do something about it

  • Simply put. But well said!!!

  • Hayao Miyazaki would love this girl.

  • @AnimeIntroStyles4 LOL IKR

  • LOL IKR

  • wow! she has guts! she spoke the truth!!

  • The world is a beautiful place... people make it ugly.

  • The most excellent speech I ever heard from a child or an adult....and yet they listened but they did not hear....this world is worser than it was then....We all live in hell and there be devils ruling it...if the world leaders took her advice and spent war funds on repairing this world and caring for humanity...instantly we would live in heaven and there would be angels ruling it.

  • What a load well thanks for posting this speech, Ill use it in my class as an example of hyperbole and silliness found in the environmentalist movement.

I wonder if this kid is still bending peoples ears, or got to see those jungles that didnt disappear. Wonder if she shared her wealth? I doubt it.

  • you r the only one here who is silly!

  • this is totally true yet we dont do anything! i mean we juat keep saying "ya sure is so true, we could learn from this" yet we practically ignore it. i think that if u say this is true all the teens and kids in the world should get tohether in a "save the world campaign" i mean it seems like adulys dont care anymore because they know that thay'll ne dead when the ned of the world

comes. and now i ask. isnt that selfish? i'm already doing something about it. will u?

  • This was 17 years ago.....

  • WOW

  • Truth!

  • she is speaking the real thing in behalf of millions of kids of her age. we go with her advocacy.

  • This speech, all of what she said back then, is more relevant than ever... shame on us all that things are still more or less the same...

  • it is pretty sad in the world when i know people who are dirt poor, yet they have at least three sponser children and i look at someone rich and there idea of charity is giving a fraction of there wealth to some fund raiser.

  • I agree. It's shocking the studies they do on liberals and conservatives. The bleeding heart liberals tend to give a tiny proportion of their salaries to philanthropic causes, while the conservatives tend to give disproportionately to philanthropic causes. And this plays out across all income levels. Why is this? Perhaps the liberal cause is a sham? And what keeps people poor? Do you think it is the free market? Why is it that the more socialist a country becomes, the worse off the poor?

  • A good speech. It has been 17 years now, the world has not improved much. May be being an Indian or what, I did not like her citation 'a beggar in India'. These words and many like these are catchy to use in any speech, but they come almost premature all the time. In our eagerness to express our feelings we do comment on things with half-knowledge. She seems to have a lot of potential in public speaking, especially with her composure at the podium. A speech well done, with one black spot.

  • Awesome speech! They should make this an annual event year after year!!

  • i wouldve stood up and clapped i dont think they still get it

  • you are master nitwit

  • Wow. Awesome!

"I am only a child... If you can't fix it, don't break it!"

    Simply awesome!

  • Bravo and it took a child to do this. did we youtubers send any letters to the un? Have we even bothered to even talk about it? This girl sad to say has more guts than many of the spineless people reading this message. i am ASHAMED!

  • wow...out of the mouths of babes!!! what does it say about our society when the children have more common sense and genuine compassion for the suffering of others than our world leaders? God bless you, sweetheart!!!

  • Those that are doing the most damage are the VERY small minority in each country that have managed grab over 90% of their countries wealth. Tackling the 'root' of the problem is the answer. This is a wonderful speech, but those that are causing the hardship and destruction are not doing out of ignorance and a lack of knowledge about the consequences of their actions. They know full well of what they are doing and see it all as a game.

  • too bad they didn't listen, right?

They might have heard, but they didn't listen. They never do. Politicians will always be politicians.

  • All i can say is that this lady tried.

It's really in their hands now...

    Change can't be done overnight.

I stand and applaude this lady although this video was made along time ago

  • Words in vain...

  • i wonder what this girl is doing now??

  • Wow 16 years ago! Just think about all that time wasted!

  • This is awesome! Send links to all you wish were there!

  • Unfortunately, it's not really the whole "U.N.", it was the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro. Lots of empty seats...

Also, the speech was 1992, but just posted recently... someone must have digitized film or broadcast footage, thus the lack of crispness.

Let's hear it for the youth.

  • @insurgentsqueegee YAY YOUTH IM 12. 1997 baby. Anyways, even to this day, I just fantasize about just going to one of these things and SCREAMING AT ALL THE DOUCHEBAGS THAT LISTEN AND DON'T HEAR. Yes im 12...

  • why is the image so pale????
