  • Salve!!

Some one can put the lyrics, name, and who song is of the song which the guy wearing green shirts are singing!? It's start like"e-- Bahia--e--Bahia--"

    please!

  • @keigi60 when does that song come up? give me a timestamp.

  • So what is the objective of having two people sparring with each other?it doesnt look as if ya'll are trying to make contact with each other.more like you're playing off of each others movements & trying to catch each others rhythms while nearly dodging each other. Is that correct or is there more to it?

i guess more than anything it looks like ya'll are dancing with each other & its really awesome but some explanation would be nice.

  • @anarkie Capoeira does not focus on injuring the opponent. Rather, it emphasizes skill. Capoeiristas often prefer to show the movement without completing it though it could be finished to cause harm to the receiver, enforcing their superiority in the roda. If an opponent cannot dodge a slow attack, there is no reason to use a faster one. Each attack that comes in gives players a chance to practice an evasive technique.

  • @cabeca1978 okay,that makes sense.i like that.

  • @anarkie that's straight from wikipedia. It wouldn't let me post the link to the article.

In any case, there's a theory that says that the slaves practiced the art without contact because they wanted to be ready when an uprising or fight with another tribe occurred. Keep in mind that when African slaves were brought to Brasil they were part of tribes and villages that sometimes were not friendly with each other and were forced to live together.

  • @anarkie If they got injured that pretty much meant they were useless and that may have led to punishment from their masters. Again all these are theories. There's really no written record of Capoeira history other than the traditions and stories preserved and passed on by the mestres and their songs.

  • @anarkie watch the whole video and you will see there's times when the game gets heated and contact occurs.
