  • The video is nice and the exercise is good in making your abs ripped. I think it should you also need an efficient diet to go along with it in order to burn your fats easily. I do know a link of a site that gives FREE workout plans that yu could use to help you gain lean muscles and achieve the lean muscular look you ever wanted.

    it depends on ur limitations....in general u wanna bulk up clean meaning....eat more calories but just enough for ur energy out put and dnt bulk up with junk food....sleep well...no cardio

  • @thehappycamperEAh Rectus abdominis is one muscle, and is trained as one. It has no direct influence when raising your leg. Why do you think you know more about the human body than me, just because you are a doctor? And what a mature doctor you are, calling people names ;)

    You're wrong. There is such a thing as lower abs. We do this in our workout course. Raising your legs makes you fight gravity, and eventually puts strain on your abs. It's better to do quality reps than quantity. 8-15 reps is generally preferred. I think you deserve a thumbs down.

  • @narutoareamedia Again, rectus abdominis is óne muscle, and is trained as one. It has no direct influence when raising your legs. I know this video is for runners, and therefore it's a good idea to do some leg-raising exercises, but theres way better exercises for abs than leg-raise. What I meant about the reps, was; why stop if you're not tired. Put some load on then, and go for what you said

  • @el1madridista umm, there really are lower and upper abs, they are said differently do to the fact that other things are used on them, like I'm pretty sure it's like leg raises do lower and situps to upper,well, I do agree on the1st and 3rd one. also to prove 2 wrong, lay on a bed or floor flat and raise both your legs, then slowly put them back down. you'll feel it if you do them right..

  • @penof1337 It's true that you can slightly focus the workout on the lower or upper part of your abs, but it's too little to matter, and eventually makes no difference. You cannot work them separately... First of all; laying on your back and raising your legs, is a very bad exercise for your spine. I know you feel tension in your abs when raising your legs, but that is only a static exercise. When you raise your legs, you use your iliopsoas muscles...

  • @el1madridista do only leg raises, you'll very very likely get abs. but I agree with the lower upper, beside sit ups, sit ups are the gayest ab workout ever. Too easy.

    - Abs DO get used for leg raises. If you can't feel the pressure on your lower abs when you do this, you're doing it wrong.

    - Do 10-12 reps when holding and tensing the entire time. Try doing t30 then.

    You're right about the ripped point, you need cardio for that, but the rest of your post is utterly incorrect.

  • @torment3d Ok, let me rephrase it: Theres no dynamic movement in your abs when you raise your legs. You do not use your abs to pull your legs up, you use your iliopsoas muscles. If you dont contract your abs, then they only work as a stabilizer...

    My point about the rep thing was; why stop if you can do more. In the video they sound like its all about the number of reps and not the workload.

  • @el1madridista ah no worries. Have you read up on HST - because the HST training regime, which is scientifically-based - counters your argument of doing less reps than your max :)

  • @bouzakerga25 if your chubby i personally think its better running outside not on a machine because around the neighborhood there are random inclines that you have to adjust to and it all around helps. i was gaining weight myself i used to play soccer everyday but got lazy (somehow) i'm picking it up and nothing feels better than a 45 min run outside in fresh air. if it's cold put on a hoody and long pants. dont worry about ppl watching you if thats the case because your doing it for you

  • @bouzakerga25 The one thing for sure is for you to continue running and/or doing anything cardio that is going to make you lose weight. You must get down to 10% or no more than 12% body fat before you are going to see any results in your abs. Good luck and keep at it. It takes some time but if you don't quit and you work hard at it you will see results. Results is what makes it easier and worth it but in the beginning you must realize that it's going to take some time. Good luck -do not quit.

  • i carried furniture for 2 and a half years for a moving company. It took me that long to get definition working somtimes 90 hours a week carrying boxes on my back up and down 3 flights of steps. dont be fooled this takes a long time

  • you got to lose overall BMI. if you still have a ut and build abs it make's ur stomach look bloated since ur building muscle under fat. Make sure your diet is proper while doing ab workouts

  • @MrColdkiwi Best word of advice: keep your body guessing. By that, I mean, don't do the same ab workouts all the time. Always do different exercises in order to make sure you are working all of your muscles. Keep at it, eat healthy, and keep running. Since you're twelve, I don't imagine you can get ripped, BUT living a healthy life early will definitely put you in a good position to be and look healthy for a long time as you get older.

  • @Elbekkaoui You probably need to do more cardio to get rid of the fat covering your abs. You may have a huge 8 pack hidden in your body, but they won't show unless you lose the fat.

  • @Elbekkaoui Nooooo! Don't eat less! If anything eat more for energy, especially carbs, and make sure that afterward you do cardio exercises vigorously (running, swimming, bicycle). I would never suggest anyone to eat less unless they are trapped in a cage and have no way of exercising, which is probably not your case.

  • @berner....not all people are capable of achieving an 8-pack. You have to have the genetics for it. Often times the lower abdominals on many people do not split in the middle, which gives the appearance of a 6 pack, and a single big ab below those 6. Look on some pro bodybuilders and you can see what I'm talking about. Hopefully you have the genetics for an 8...if not...get a nice v cut below that 6 pack and it looks great as well! Good luck...and hard work and determination is the key!

    Do you think that it would have any impact on getting more of a 'cut' between your lower abs if you isolated each side of your rectus abdominus as opposed to doing specifically ab exercises that worked both sides of them at once?

    I was working out with my roomate and I sat in the 'captain's chair' and lifted a kettle bell for a few reps with my right leg and then with the left. I felt one side of my rectus abdominus with each lift, as opposed to both sides at once.

  • Terrible form, he's doing the crunches totally wrong. The point is to raise your chest towards the ceiling with your neck remaining straight, NOT to curl towards your knees and bend your neck. You'll cause neck problems and get a less effective workout this way.
