Correct me if I'm wrong. About 79-80, the Whalers had Dave Keon playing wing on a line centered by Gordie Howe, with Bobby Hull, on the other wing. With Dave and Bobby in their 40s, and Gordie in his 50s, it was referred to as the Geritol Connection. Can you imagine this line if all 3 were in their prime?
This friggin abortion league damaged so MANY teams most notably The Bruins who got decimated by losing Cheevers, Green, Sanderson and MacKenzie, toss in losing Westfall to the Isles in the 73 expansion draft and damn. Flush one possible dynasty, then the damn league couldnt even hold its own, folds, and MERGES with the NHL causing even MORE expansion. I wish that nightmare had NEVER happened
