  • This song is from the Civil War era. Marty Robbins does the best version of it that I have heard thus far, but they didn't have recording technology in 1861-65. I imagine those versions of this song were even more emotionally charged.

  • Marty could handle any type of song, He was an American Patriot, not too many celebrities stick their head up and say so any more, I loved Marty's music and respected him, I am a Canadian fan. I saw him in person in Toronto in the late 60's .
