This is neither an armlock nor a kimura. This targets the shoulder, making it a shoulder lock. A kimura or (reverse)ude-garami variation is done with the hands.
The pressure from an omoplatta, even though it is a shoulder lock, can be felt at either the shoulder or at or near the elbow, it depends on the type of omoplatta execution and victim.
This is just a reverse omoplata, which sometimes produces pressure at the elbow.
Demain Maia landed this in Arte Suave. And yes, you have to be very careful with this move, it being harder to control your legs with your butt in the air.
@TheRadioSucks Idk, i'm gonna assume that this is just 10th Planet JJ renaming move's like they always do, because submission's don't have different name's based on the position. For example the leg triangle is mostly from the guard, but it can be done from the top aswell, and the name doesn't change.
@Charkoly2 Yeah they do that a lot, but the leg kimura is indeed an actually submission not a weird omoplata variation. The omoplata goes makes the arm go in a different direction, you actually perform the submission with only the legs, omoplata requires the arm to push alot of the time etc etc.
...if you already have his back why the hell would you go to side control, getitng the back of anyone with any skill is hard enough, why give it up just put on a rear naked choke
@jackbrickman He does not have the back he has his opponent in turtle. One simple reason to pull the guy over is with over-unders or seatbelt control you can slide your opponent into a head and arm triangle and finish it from there.
Or get him to post his arm and attack it, as the video shows.
almost pulled this off by accident while rolling last night lol
my instructor was demonstrating it afterwords, and took the guys other arm with his arms and put him in a straight armbar at the same time. crazy double submission shit lol
Hey, this is Eli, the guy demonstrating the technique here. I thought it might be ironic to mention that last week I had my elbow dislocated with this very move - good times.
And before anyone says it, yes, this is a shoulder lock, but if you hit the angle off a bit, you get a weird torque on the elbow...apparently.
In BJJ and points grappling this would be an awesome alternative if you had the back and couldn't get your rear choke sunk in. In MMA and Combat Grappling you would set your self up to take some serious knee shots to the head
In the last part, id recomend closing the figure of four, otherwise he can simply extend his arm, making the shoulder lock useless. Just an observation.
good vid. bro i've been looking for this particular submission. can you message me the appropriate name of that submission please. its something like onimura or something. can't remember

@Charkoly2 No, omoplata your opponent is face down. I like the leg kimura it is hard to see coming.

Nice vid, never heard this referred to by that name though.
It's always been called the Reverse, or Inverted Omoplata when I've seen it.

What poker is thinking of is the omoplata which while attacking the same joint with you legs it from a different angle.

If striking is allowed you could probably also throw body shots
