My husband works construction and it's awful. He works here and there and it's not dependable at all. I have been without a car for over a year but we saved enough money to buy a car we found for $500.00 !! I have two kids that may get Christmas this year but they won't get much. But the thing is... I am thankful for all that I have, it may not be much but what I have I am thankful for. Buying food, paying bills and all that is really hard but we make it and we are happy :D

A year and a half ago I was making $35k a year as a delivery driver. Got laid off due to company downsizing. Had to take the best thing I could find at the time. When I did my taxes this year, my gross income from last year was less than $8k.

US it's a full of resources country in terms of basic needs: food, energy / mineral resources, etc. What it is occuring now is a re-birth, a lifestyle change. No more default-prone credit lines, less luxury and worthless spending. Scooters instead of cars, weekends on free parks, lunch-boxes, etc. It is not the end of the world...it is just the end of hyper-consumption era.

My husband works construction and it's awful. He works here and there and it's not dependable at all. I have been without a car for over a year but we saved enough money to buy a car we found for $500.00 !! I have two kids that may get Christmas this year but they won't get much. But the thing is... I am thankful for all that I have, it may not be much but what I have I am thankful for. Buying food, paying bills and all that is really hard but we make it and we are happy :D

That's right. Smoking calms the nerves and dulls the stress. When I am under stress, I want a cig. I also want to smoke when I travel because I get bored, driving for countless hours. Consider this: being unemployed is both stressful and boring.
Taxes on cigs and beer are regressive and directed at the poor, since most of the cigs and beer consumed are bought by people with less income. Cigs and beer are two products that people really enjoy, but were affordable to everyone, until now.

Hey country, I know a way around the cigs! Go to a tobacco store and buy a cig machine called a Top-O-Matic (about $42.), the tobacco is $23.00, the cig tubes with filters attached, $3. for 200. No excessive taxes, great smokes!

Cigs were really cheap, until about ten years ago. Cigs and beer offer two of the few pleasures in life that were affordable to everyone, until recently. The problem with being poor is that everything is too expensive. When I see a poor person smoking a cig, I don't blame him because I don't think the rich are the only people who should be allowed to enjoy themselves.

free lance odd jobs, figure 8 dollars an hour for your tme, but flat rate the jobs.... get them by cold calling small commercial businesses.
that works.. not easy..but you can make a few hundred dollars a week that way.
and it grows, leave them a paper card with your number on it... painting, window washing, clean the johns, etc.

My girlfriend (with money and a car) didn't care that I was out of work and riding a bicycle to get around, never even having my first car yet. In fact, she's the one always taking me out to eat and stuff. No, she's not ugly or fat either, and I'm no male supermodel. She's 24 and only weighs about 107. Girlfriends can be had with no money or a car. They're out there... you just have to look for them.
