  • Wow I was young when this was popular and never really saw this side of the song. Love it.

  • This is her best song and the best video, thanks for sharing. I will always love your songs Tammy. RIP Siv.

  • A Lady First Class rip Tammy

  • I love her! and I was named after her.. and I want to be a country singer :)

  • RIP Tammy

  • Turns me to mush every time.

  • A very,very beautiful song!

    May Tammy RIP!

  • I have been saying this to Brenda Rasnake from Lebanon Virginia for 29 years now.

Just can't let her go. Jerry

  • beautiful song beautiful lady RIP xxxx kev

  • I hate sappy music

but I LOVE Tammy's sappy music. She hit's my heart where I'm afraid to look.

  • NO WORDS TO DESRIBE HER VOICE.....BUT WE CAN ONLY FEEL IT IN OUR HEARTS.TRULY A LEGEND, AND I LOVE HER AND HER MUSIC.

  • She has such a pretty voice!! It is special because it has a teardrop in it.

  • AMERICAN ICON!!!

  • I live in Nashville Tn and have the privilege of driving by Tammy's last house she lived in when she died i also visit here crept from time to time she was truly the first lady of country music a true class one of a kind i love to see her and her on you tube and of course the classic country radio stations that play her i also am friends with her and George Jones daughter Georgette and i truly think her soul lives in her daughter you can here it in her songs she sings god bless you Tammy!!

  • I fully agree.I was listening to real country music and memorizing the lyrics startng at age 4.This LADY my friends was and will always be THE BEST! Today's Country music is a joke! Its in a area all by it's self? I have not yet named it yet? I do not watch the Awards any more.At times they would allow a True Country Singer/Legend to give an award away or walk down the carpet to enter for a picture! That is more than an insult! All left living should still be a part of the awards.Makes me sick!

  • Holy Grail

  • brianemc has nailed it. What a talent, what a voice, what an entertainer! Tammy epitomizes country music as well as anyone ever has. Fortunately, her unique, angelic voice will live on forever. God bless you Tammy.

  • Very special times. You could understand the words to music and you didn't have to be half dressed to get noticed. Tammy proved country could be elegant and glamorous. She wasn't pretending to be country, she was country. Love it!

  • i agree! sure

    miss her

  • What a classic! I love it, and it never gets old. We have a version of this on our channel. Not trying to spam here, but I ask everyone please check out this talented 16 year old....she's a big Tammy fan as you'll see. Music row has their eye on her already, so stop by our channel and get a preview of her before the rest of the world does! Subscribe and comment if you like what you see. Thanks!

  • @RM23RM23 -- No one can replace Tammy, and you need to stop plugging another singer on this site. This song was posted as a tribute to Tammy. Let her rest in peace. And let your young singer make it on her own, the way Tammy did.

  • @ourmissboo Sorry, but nobody is trying to replace her. The song by this young, talented singer was a tribute to Tammy as well, just like the video. You're the only negative comment received of her covers of Tammy in over 3 years. She will make it on her own, and YouTube plays a role in it. She's had two very important meetings in Nashville in the last 2 months, and none of it would have happened without YouTube. Instead of whining, support the few young artists who love the classics.

  • absoulte classic. nothing else need to say

  • .....# 1 in US and and parts of Europe...!

  • Beautiful voice, beautiful looking, classy lady. My No.1 female singer of ALL time. If I could go back in time and meet just one person, it would be her.

  • God truly has an angel singing in heaven. That is You Miss Tammy..I love you

  • Thank You " Queen " for all the heart and soul you put into every one of your songs! You are truly NUMBER 1.

  • @bil1228 I wish you could have seen her in her early thirties, she was just lovely indeed and handled herself so very weill. The crowds just loved her. I still have an album she signed for me.

  • @Phil60289 I think she is the " Marilyn Monroe " of country music. Simply Breathtaking.

  • What an angel when on earth and now an angel in God's heavenly choir. We all love you so Tammy!!!

  • ...Tammy suffered from anxiety...yet she went out and did

    a classic Wynette performance...!

  • what a beautiful song :)

  • TAMMY gets new fans every year that goes by with this wonderful song.

  • no one can do this song like tammy!!!!!!! she was just great!!!

  • i grew up listening to Tammy Wynette among others and even though i knew this song because of Billy Gilman & Martina McBride, i just found out it was Tammy that wrote this!! She is one of the greatest female country stars!

  • What was George thinkin'..........He should have stopped Drinkin and paid more attention to Tammy...

  • This is heartbreaking - the Edith Piaf of Country - bittersweet and what a talent - this is one ofmy all time Tammy favourites - I met her after a show in London in the late 70s - what a gracious lady and the picture sits proudly on my table to this day - what a loss she is !! and what a standard she sets for Nashville!

  • OK Children, I'm gonna preach and answer some questions. Beautiful women can be programed. When their Father tells them how sorry assed they are and ugly. Well, they beleive it. Then when they enter their first relationship and their insecure boyfriend tells them the same thing , get the picture. That' s why the two Georges. Ms Wynette was not only a beautiful lady. She was the esence of country music. Good times upstairs at the Toot' s Miss you Tingle

  • Great song written about her break up with George Jones. Don't know how she managed to get through the song whenever she sang it.

  • I ask myself that all the time, how did she have the guts 2 perform at that point in her life? she truly was one of a kind, nobody can ever evoke such emotion like Tammy,It's a shame I'm 18, would have loved to grow up listening to her, she's one of my idols, heroes, inspirations etc. One thing I question about her is how does such a beautiful woman end up with ugly losers such as George Richey who just wanted her money, and one of her early husbands who didn't approve of her music career

  • I agree. I'm reading the book that her daughter wrote about Tammy's life and am interested in reading her daughter's thoughts on George Jones and Richey and others. I don't know much about George Richey but I did hear stuff about him being after her money.

  • The one thing that bugs me about Tammy is she married such ugly men. I swear both of the George's look like they were her dad. George Richey did not deserve such a beautiful woman like she was too pretty for him and George Jones I do not agree of because of the age difference. He's like 12 years older than Tammy that to me is disgusting. Tammy needed a man her age, that's my belief. Tammy did have a thing for George Jones though and this video proves how heartbroken she was. She was so pretty

  • TW had a voice that was pure powerful country! Miss her!

  • True lady Of Country Heaven has it's Singing Angel

  • I know I just posted but I have to do it again. Holy Moly! What a song, what a singer! Sweet, sad and so real!

  • Oh if only today's so called "country" music could compare!!

  • So So True! This is back when coruntry singers were from the cournty!

  • @cpehybrid78 lord what a woman, oh baby your good

  • Such a beatiful song by a great artist who went tooo soon we miss you Tammy

  • I can well understand why this was her favorite song. Her interpretation certainly shows the experience and pain she endured, and how she channeled it into gold.

It still has the power to make every hair on the back of my neck stand on end. When she hits the crescendo end of this song.. it's like nothing anyone has ever done before or since.

She was one of a kind!

  • I have heard many people sing this song beautifully but Tammy is the song.

  • Billy Gilman's not even old enough to understand the lyrics to this song. He's had his fifteen minutes and one hit. It's an insult to even compare him to the great Tammy Wynette.

  • ok, Im not going to argue(i never said he understood the words, I just like his VERSON) Im a fan of Tammy too, but I just think his verson is different(and not actually better but he is so emotional) I love him because of his music and his pure voice.I meant nothing by saying that....I swear that much...just an opinion I believe Im intitled to

  • people are so fanatic here, they just dont accept anything but their opinion and taste. you expressed ur judgment with politeness and respect. i dont understand hysterical reactions

  • thank you. I appreciate what you said...I try not to make my opinions full of anger or sumthing rude...I am intitled to my opinion just as you are yours...thanks again.

  • yeah, and when you criticize them they score you a little thumb down, just like 7 yrs old kids behave...

  • you are so right. it sickens me to see ppl behave like that. Will they ever grow up? I mean Im not fully mature but Im more mature than most ppl my age.

  • agreed he was too young to even be singing a song like that.

  • I'm Italian, and i start to listen country music not too much years ago with Dolly "lovely" Parton in 1991...So,i start to know this amazing lady when she work with Dolly and Loretta Lynn in "Honky Tonk Angel" album...and again not too much even that.

Now,when i try to know better this sweet songbird,i understand what i miss for long time.I it's a shame then in Italy"we"don't know pearl like her and this song.

Thanks to Miss Tammy for what she give to me after her dead too

    Sorry for english!

  • PAROLE SANTE . ho vissuto lo stesso processo io negli ultimi 3 anni.

    (ur english is pretty good!)

  • The whole reason Billy sung this song was because when he was really young he listened to this lady sing it

  • love this song.. love billy gilman singing it even more <333

  • classic song....classic singer......

  • b. fuller you know tonight, how bad i need you, let me keep on using you. you have hurt me like no other person ever has, but for some reason in my heart i need you, is it wrong for me to need someone who has hurt me so bad, i know there are other people out there who know exactly what i am saying, thank you Tammy for once again seeing within our hearts.

  • I agree with brianemc. Tammy is the queen of hurt.

  • Nobody and I mean Nobody can sing HURT like this lady, she is from my Hometown, and we are so Proud, to have had her, she is missed, loved like noone else, her heart speaks a song sang from so many from these parts. That beautiful voice echoes through these cotton fields, where she picked and chopped cotton. I cannot say enough about how we feel about her! Tammy you are forever loved and missed! Red Bay and Florence Alabama!

  • @brianemc I agree so whole heartedly. I have never been able to listen to her without weeping. She really knew how to deliver the emotion in a song. Bless her heart...no one compares.

  • @NonaTut thank you i am a 40 year old man and she brings me to tears everytime i hear that beautiful voice

  • @brianemc No shame in that game honey! A true artist can take you on a personal "journey". I live, eat, sleep and breathe music...I can name a song to represent every phase of my life can't you? I especially love it when Tammy and George would reunite on stage . Thier chemistry was magical and I may be wrong, but I swear they still carried a torch for one another til her death. Perfect harmony! Unfortunate it didn't carry over into thier tumultous marriage!

  • this is defo my fav song from Tammy, I believe just about everyone could identify with the lyrics in this song..dont write them like this nowadays!

  • What a song, with a message, I'm singing along

  • Then I'll know I'm over you and all my cryin's done . . . no more hurtin memories can find me.

Anyone hurt by love can identify with these lyrics!

  • My favorite. sound is a little off.

  • my favorite live version of my favoite of her songs. so understated, yet the emotion in her voice makes you feel how she aches. was this taped soon after she wrote the song? the hurt seems so fresh and honest.

  • hello tammy u are the best ever my name is angela i love apartment number 9 with fag cup tesco u just are the best from angela in apartment number 9 xxxxx

  • Looks like I lot of us used this song till we got used to losing someone. My first attachment to it was when I left my hometown, family and friends to move to Denver. I played this record over and over.

Thanks for posting this beautiful clip.

  • I will always treasure this song as well as the remarkable women who wrote and sang it.

  • What amazing song.

  • This Great Lady is from my Home town. We all can relate to exactly how she feels! No-One and mean No-One will ever replace her! Tammy these old lonely dirt roads and cotton fields hear your beautiful voice and we are blessed! For we are proud that the world can understand not only how a woman feels but the South in general! You are missed! But your memory and voice will always be alive!

  • i can feel the hairs on back of my neck going up

    Brrrr...........TYVM

  • Very sad song sung eloquently X

  • many people can sing this song well. But, no one can sing it like Tammy. Her voice was amazing. No wonder George fell in love with her.

  • She was and is the QUEEN. She will never be replaced.

  • I sit and listen to her music for hours. There will NEVER EVER be another like her. Her voice and emotion will never be matched by anyone.

Tammy we MISS and LOVE you!!!!

  • beautiful lady, beautiful song.

  • Thanks for uploading this!

Does anyone know where I could find Tammy singing 'Stand By Your Man' from the same show? It used to be on here a few months ago, but it was taken down.

  • It doesn't get any better than Tammy.

  • jesus--i'd heard of tammy wynette, but never knew her music and just heard this song for the first time. what a voice--what emotion. what are her best cds?

  • In short, any of them are good. There aren't that many currently in print, but, in 2008 her record label is planning something from what I Hear

    Dave-Cincinnati

  • This is my all-time favorite. Thanks to everyone for all the videos.

  • This song happened to me twice!!! Nearly kills a person. This was Tammy favorite song that she ever did and I have to say one of mine.

  • My God, it's been awhile since I've heard this song but with what happened to me recently in a relationship, it really hits home. RIP Tammy.

  • I hadn't heard this song before the brilliant film

"Sordid Lives"... just love this song and the film both.

  • That was the weirdest movie! I laughed until I almost had an asthma attack!

  • This full show just aired on RFDTV tonight, but this segment was left out :( for some reason

  • My all time favorite Tammy Wynette songs! I've lived the song once, hurts like hell. Love You Tammy!

  • love it very much put more like this please

  • would love to see "you and me" and some of her other mid-70s country soul.

  • Love it. One of my favorite songs.

  • GREAT!!!

  • Your mother should be proud! It is people like you who make the world a not so nice place. Please...get some manners.

  • Your the BITCH. And you sure have some nerve talking about TAMMY like that. So SHUT your DAMN Mouth when you have on clue a what you talking about.

  • Well, It seems that I need to clarify myself. I'm talking to the BITCH (endora60) and not anyone else.

  • Laura, do you have children? If so, then maybe you need to think about them or someone else's. Tone the language down. If you can't find more intelligent sounding words, please don't post. You don't even know the person you're cursing at, but you're cursing at her. She may be the sweetest person. You may be, too, but for some reason you think you have the right to upset everyone. Not good.

  • endora, that was the hairstyle of the time. Your mother probably had something similar. For the record, for you and the other foul mouthed poster, a bitch is a female dog. Tammy Wynette doesn't qualify, neither does any other human being. If you're gonna post, respect the others on the board. That would be really nice of you. I know I'm not the only one who doesn't like the limited vocabulary.

  • She sure is #1 and always will be in my book. I hope others will post more Wynette videos like this here :)

  • Supreme!!!! Wynette was and still IS #1

  • One of the best songs of all time sung by one of the best artists of all time.

    Thanks.

  • The queen of country!

  • love this song, thank you

  • pure class!!

  • As true of as song as ever written....

  • OMG I LOVE THIS SONG THANK YOU!!

  • I'm the same as you. this has always been one of my favorite songs among others..

  • WOW :) this was a treat to see. there once was a clip on this site where she sang "Stand By Your Man" from the same show that this wonderful performance was from
