He's a strange dude, but most geniuses usually are a bit on the eccentric side/odd (no disrespect, i'm a huge Tool/APC/Puscifer fan). He's been known to be reclusive & introverted. I think the masks/costumes help him deal w/the spotlight; kind of the same way people feel more outgoing on Halloween when they're dressed up? It may also have something to do w/the synth or to give his voice that raspy tone he uses for the song

I go exactly for what BladeQwert is saying. Other bands and genres of music have musicians dancing all over the stage, like Lady Gaga for example. They do that only to fill the empty space that their meaningless, shitty music cannot fill by itself. Bands such as Tool really just need to play music; they don't need to dance, because their music is so wonderful that it completely captures the audience, anyways.

... i envy all those people... tool is my favorite band and when they come to ohio next time... i WILL be there.

danny carey and maynard are close to 50 if not 50 now... i don't think they have many years of touring left ahead of them. considering it normally takes them 5 years to make an album this next album release tour is likely to be their last. and knowing tool.. they choose their personal lives over living for fans... i recommend seeing them the next opportunity you get.

He has an uncanny ability to portray complex emotions through his vocals not to mention his abilities as a songwriter. Who is to say they can't have multiple geniuses in the band anyway? ;)
