@AK410 I didnt spell that wrong. The Areopagite's name is Dionysius but when you use his name as a descriptor it is Dionysian (like Kant's ethics vs. Kantian ethics).
@unleashed310@1soualafois@fernandezcarbonell Hierarchy and the definition of order in the letters of Pseudo-Dionysius. A study in the form and meaning of the Pseudo-Dionysian writings.
Author: Ronald F. Hathaway; Pseudo-Dionysius, the Areopagite.
We interpret a work or mode of thought in the lower divisions of the divided line and our expression of it may be brought forth in the gnosis of the intelligible.
It is within these correlations [the esoteric being the art of correspondence] that you will find all that is within the intelligible realms on Plato's divided line.
Jung pulled his own wisdom from other archetypal definitions for reality. While it is not necessary to know metaphysics or alchemy (as noted in this lecture) it is again unnecessary to make an issue with Jung's path of seeking. (continued)
Beautiful lecture. I would suppose that Carl Jung merely appealed to alchemy, hermetics, and the occult as these topics were treasured most to him. If you look deeply into resources associated with magick et al you recognize correlations between occult topics and all topics within the realms of human knowledge (human experience, psyche, wisdom, what it is essentially to be human and to know your world, etc).
its rare to see anything done on this subject in a lecture format... usually it's only obscure texts. what if jung had used the hermetic, gnostic and roman doctrines as exposition! gr8 upload. the adepts know all to well, and the rabble know far too little
Maybe Carl Chung ended up in the " FIELD", the " MATRIX" where the nature of info is singular, the same place Plato went. They just took a different route.
@dirkdigla1914 he's a philosophy teacher, not really history, he's more about delivering the findings. But history always needs to be brought in even if briefly.
@RKSeams Too bad he gets quite a bit of the history wrong or shows a very shallow understanding of history... He really seems to get Plato and the scandal of Plato it is taught today.
