I grew up with Southern Gospel, Oak Ridge Boys, and The Stadler Brothers. I have seen videos of the Gaither Homecomings that have included the two bands. They both started off gospel and have come back to their roots. I believe that God will bless their music because if you raise up the name of Jesus, it will not go with out reward. No matter what you may feel about any of these groups, If they praise and exalt the name if Jesus, they are ok in my book.
The Oak Ridge Boys sing this song so beautifully. Their singing is so heartfelt and it's obvious they love God. What can be more inspiring than singing about God to those who love him? Thank God for the Oak Ridge Boys. God Bless them always.
I'm glad I rediscovered this beautiful old hymn. I'm going through tough times right now and this song literally brought me to tears and reminded me God is here for me.
I cannot believe such negativity. As a person God has used to plant a church in this day and age nothing is easy in God. I praise God for the example of Bill Gaither and how one would love to have the talents that he has had to enhance awesomeness in God over the years. The most important factor we need to remember is that God allows people to find him when they are ready. Man on the other hand complicate it all. I thank the Lord he doesn't judge like man. Blessings to you Bill Gaither.
2:79 Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands, and then say:"This is from God," to traffic with it for a miserable price!- Woe to them for what their hands do write, and for the gain they make thereby
Good to see so many Christians are here judging people like the Oaks & Willie Nelson.
How do you presume to know if they are believers or not?
What is wrong with the Gaithers having people on who sell records.
God wants us to spread his word. If we need to have non-christians participate to do that then so be it. In this case the end justifies the means. And besides maybe Bill can convince some non-believers to believe.
And as for my opinion the Oaks are ALL christians.
thanks so much for this and the many posts that you have shared, hoover4000..I can remember as a child, changing the 8 tracks of the oak ridge boys in our family car, 1975 chevy impala.. may God bless you hoover4000
I really like the Oak Ridge Boys. My problem is with Gaither and his bunch. Gaither and Friends , to me, seem like just entertainers. It is hard to really believe they are genuine. The Oak Ridge Boy seem as if there is sincerety.
@Hemoxin its pretty obvious you havent met any of the gaithers or you never would even question. i on the other hand have and take it from someone who knows, they are very much genuine and God Bless them for helping lead so many to Christ.
@Hemoxin which Gaither are you talking about? Is it the same Bill Gaither's folks, whose songs have made millions appreciate the love of God and His saving grace?
It is no one's business to judge these men. What is the point of leaving hurtful comments? That only makes everyone feel bad...including who gives the comment.
No matter how many times I've gone down a different road my family, my God and my real friends have welcomed back the prodigal son. Perhaps thats what sets Christians aside.
No matter how many times I've gone down a different road my family, my God and my real friends have welcomed back the prodigal sont. Perhaps thats what sets Christians aside.
Yes, God is the only one who knows their hearts. I do hope each man's heart is in the right place. There does seem to be a bit of poor judgment on the Gaithers' part since they often have "worldly-looking" and popular main-stream artists on their shows who may or may not be Christians and/or who may not have good testimonies including Willie Nelson. I would not use this as a reason to "boycott" the Gaithers, but probably would not knowingly buy albums with folks like this on them.
Songwriter 1951 & Jhorseman4: Don't say you're not judging when you just wrote something for the whole world to see that is possibly hurtful to the witnessing that the Oakridge Boys are doing! My son told me one time when I invited him to church that the people would all drop dead if they saw him walk in there. That's when I left that church and found one that believes in Holy Spirit conviction not conviction by your acquaintances. FACT: The OakRidge Boys have brought many people to the Lord.
yeah we have GOD'S eternal security...If GOD can forgive....,who are we to not forgive??? HE IS A GOD OF MERCY&GRACE..! GOD bless the OAKS!! I thank GOD for their SALVATION!
Beautiful gospel with a group that became THE BEST and still remain on top in my book !! Thank you Mark for sharing this with me. What an uplifting song.Wow, very powerful....
Great song, no matter who sings it. I do not stand in judgement of anyone; I have enough of my own to account for. I've been disapointed in some of the "gospel" folks that Bill has included from time to time; but he has given us some good music as well. I grew up listening to Duane DJ on local radio in TX ; singing locally and on to the Oaks. It's a little disapointing to see Richard not the clean-cut handsome guy he's always been; though he may have changed now since that was in '07.
I'm not trying to ruffle feathers. I love the videos you post, but to my knowledge the Oaks havent given any excuse or apology to fans for leaving God on a shelf for 30yrs while they sang about Saloons. I'm not against forgiving anybody. I forgave Micheal English and Kirk Talley when they admitted their mistakes and gave their testimony. Can someone tell me where to even find a real testimony from one of the Oaks? And not about gospel in their roots. That means nothing. Its in Satans roots too!
Just who made you God that you should go judging others especially when you haven't walked an inch much less a mile in their shoes...Take a lok at the speck in your own eye before you go trying to look at someone else's
Am I the only Gaither fan that is not happy about the inclusion of the Oaks? Bill has really lowered the par by bringing them back. They slapped Gospel music in the face 30yrs ago and we're supposed to just take them back because they're too old for Country and they don't want them anymore? Am I the only one who remembers they ran off Jim Hamill (a true gentleman) because he was too evangelistic? Folks there's no heart change here its all about money and they aren't getting mine!
thats the most unGodly attitude i've ever heard. Do you think God would throw in their face anything that may have happened 30 years ago? Lets face it, God wouldnt throw it in their face anything that may have happened YESTERDAY, if they are forgiven. So you shouldnt either. Dont pretend to know their hearts. Only God does. I am positive God would be very dissapointed with that comment
@hoover4000 I totally agree with you. Our God is a forgiven God. Noone knows if they have talked to God and God has seen what is in their hearts. ONLY God knows this. We shouldn't judge people, it's not our place too.
@hoover4000 VERY well said! And, you are certainly right...God says to forgive seven times 70, right? Lord, we are all only human and we all fall short of the GLORY of God! Forgiveness, that's key.
@hoover4000 Exactly, If we don't believe in redemption, then why are we singing these songs? I'm sure God could have picked someone else that hadn't killed so many Christians, but on that Damascus road, God chose who later became the greatest Apostle of all ! We never know what God is up to with people, it's not up to us to 'give up' on them, God won't.
@hoover4000 Bravo. I liked your response so much that I had to look up your profile name, and saw you are 24yrs. Wow, it seems you've learned a lot at your age. Praise God for your wisdom and your willingness to speak up!
The countless souls who were brought to Christ by way of The Oak Ridge Boys in 1970 or so, have probably been exponentially increased by this time. They all count. All of the souls saved by those who were initially saved through the earlier years until now, has to add into the millions. Well done!!!
The Oaks have never forgotten their gospel roots. Just check out their catalog of albums and you'll see along with their country releases, there is always a gospel release too. I have seen the Oaks in concert many times and they always have a segment of "gospel quartet music". It's obvious The Oaks love Jesus and their music is heartfelt and it is not about the money. If they keep singing gospel music and inspiring me and others, what's wrong with that? God bless the Oaks.
@jhorseman4 I am glad that Gaither and the Homecoming folks have more of an open heart. There are a number of people who are part of the homecoming family who have made some mistakes along the way but THANK GOD for his mercy and patience and for people like Gaither who keep an open welcomng heart. I don't know the history of the Oaks but while they did sing other music, they have always had Christian music as well.
@jhorseman4 you've not followed the careers of many of the greats in gospel music to make a statement like that. We've all 'fallen short of the glory of God'. Think of some of the best testimonies in the Bible, the Apostle Paul used to murder Christians, & came to be one of the great Apostles & influences of all time. What if God had not made him see the error of his ways? David, Moses, both had their moments of weakness & paid dearly for them, but God did not give up on them or us.
@jhorseman4 The Oaks slapped gospel in the face, really? I think it was the other way around. They really never left gospel, gospel left them. The other acts started attacking them just for jazzen up their music a little and the other acts were jealous. To make a long story short, when you can't get any dates to play because a few jealous acts run the business, what happens? You have to make a living, so they did what they had to do. Oh by the way God took care of them
@jhorseman4 If you are going to bring up the past, Jim Hamill had some issues himself, too - remember him getting all "blessed" on stage, and waving his coat around, only to have his cigarettes fall out?
The point is, the grandeur and truth of these hymns abides regardless of past mistakes or present unfortunate realities of the performers.
I love this song! I sing this song so much to myself especially last few months when stress of being a laid off single mom get to me--I hear "God will take care of you"..He has--and He will.
@JoeBonsall I've listened to the Oak Ridge Boys for decades and love your music. This is the most beautiful rendition of "God Will Take Care of You" I've ever heard. Love and blessings to you and all the Oaks.
My mistake on earlier (removed) comments; I was thinking of another song they sang. This one has two flat symbols on the staff, so it is written in G Minor.
Joe and Duane have always complemented each other superbly- as seen here. Joe's top defies time, it seems. Sterban rumbles out that final A (?) with a little roughness on the attack, but impressively round.
Les should be more impressed- I heard the fifth voice repeatedly
I have been able to maneuver very few of the Oak Ridge Boys songs past the UMG copyright patrol so I appreciate all of them that are on You Tube.Thanks. *****.
i"ll tell you true----they can sing Elvira and Bobby Sue till the cows come home, but when they sing like the one in this video----that is the real Oak Ridge boys (in my opinion) Great song!
What's not to love about the Oak Ridge Boys? Always fabulous but especially inspiring when they sing Gospel. I've been to their concerts here in Canada and they always add a few Gospel songs. Their roots as a quartet are in gospel music. I love all of their voices but Joe Bonsall has perfected that unmistakable tenor sound. I think he is the signature voice of the Oaks. Tenor of a group really makes it's identity.
It is nice to see that they have come full circle, I love their music but am happier that they have come back to their roots. They bring a special quality to the songs. God has truely blessed them, and thank you for collecting so many great videos.
beautiful!!! i remember yesterday night when i was walking back to my house from another place, it was so dark, then suddenly this song came into my mind and keep repeating God will take care of you.. God is so wonderful, i suddenly felt secure and Jesus is with me, and then i no more scared of robbery(which often happens here) anymmore, becoz God will take care of me!!!!
First concert I ever went to was an ORB concert. My daddy was crazy about them. Not until a couple of years ago did I realize how great into their faith they still were. How comforting.
Hi Guys. Great Song, Left Paris, Texas one morning early. Soon you all passed us and we waved, you all waved back . Two weeks later we left Spokane Wash. early one morning and there you gus were parked by the lake at Couer d' Alene,Idaho. We were in our little Black German Merkur XRTI, and we honked. We started to stop and see if you guys wanted to go into town for breakfast. Of course you were probably asleep. What a coincidence. We came on home. Always a fan, Berni, Keep singing
Somebody get the word to the Oaks... add 11 more classic hyms, record with only a piano accompaniment...and make them available asap!!! This is GOLD!!! Thanks, Ken U.
I was never really into the Oakridge Boys, but they really did a good job with this one. I think that guy singing high tenor sounds much better when he sings gospel.
I watched some of the old gospel videos the Oakridge Boys did back inthe 70's that Oakwarrior posted here on youtube. Their gospel is SO MUCH better than their country. I saw them do Have Little Talk With Jesus, man, they tore it up. What happened? When they were secular, they just didn't have it anymore.
Hoover, when you post videos of these guys, you should know that Oak and Ridge are separate words. People searching for "Oak Ridge Boys" won't see your video.
The Boys are stronger then ever right now. I am glad to see that Bill had them come in for his sessions. I kind of miss the old days when The Oaks did full gospel concerts.
sorry everyone, for some reason it's not showing new comments to approve so if i dont approve your comment it's because i cant see it not because i'm ignoring you! lol
I really love this song, the words are so wonderful and it brings back to me so many wonderful memeories. Thank you so much for posting. Keep up the wonderful work and God Bless.

goodness. ok richard's voice got deeper and he still looks young!!

Joe and Duane have always complemented each other superbly- as seen here. Joe's top defies time, it seems. Sterban rumbles out that final A (?) with a little roughness on the attack, but impressively round.
Les should be more impressed- I heard the fifth voice repeatedly

I was never really into the Oakridge Boys, but they really did a good job with this one. I think that guy singing high tenor sounds much better when he sings gospel.
MisterBoswell 4 years ago
