Issam, the drummer, is wonderful. He's a great drummer, and I met him at a workshop he and Sonia put on when the BDSS performed in our town. He was very warm and friendly (as was she). He plays the drum like it's nothing, but gets amazing sounds out of it.

The solo drummer is what really impresses me. This Dirbakkeh insrument is great for rythmic beats other than Military music.

There is nothing wrong with her body belly dance is for anyone, but i think the issue is how she is dressing her body, she is small chested ,that's really the only difference between any other performer in bdss apart from size,you see they wear a larger padded cup to balance the lower half (if they're pear ,most of them are)whereas bozenka is wearing a small cup so her bottom half is really outstanding

I had the opportunity to take a class with Bozenka back in the 90's when she was still a student. It was only her and me, and Amir Thaleb from Argentina, he was teaching at Tamalyn Dallal's studio in Miami for a short while.

From that day I knew she was going to be a fantastic dancer and performer.

Shakira may not be what you would call a true 'bellydancer'... but you have to admit she opened up the 'bellydance world' to more people then you realize!! has OPENed many doors in areas where it has been hidden for so long.. i know.. because of her i joined a group of bellydancers 2 years ago.. and i am 56 yrs old!!!

Well, I am also a bellydancer and I must say that Shakira does not do what the rest of us do; true.. but, I don't think its her aim to, her style is more mainstream and modern influenced. We are Bellydancers by prefession, Shakira does bellydancing also in her shows.. so it will not be the same.

isn't it? In my opinion Bozhenka has the best body-shape a bellydancer could wish to have (anyone can blow up her cleavage so: glad she didn't). she is great at drum solos, she says she always improvises and when you see her so joyful and relaxed you really believe her!

I am no expert. But I do have Jillina DVD on coreography. And most times that I see dancers from BDSS they use the same moves as her. Are the copying her or the other way around?

Jillina does the choreographies for the group. Then there is the fact that like most dance forms there is a definate movement vocabulary, so its not strange that they use the same movements.

It's not copying, it's just that there are only so many types of movement in bellydance. What you have to notice to tell bellydancers is their style; how and when they use those movements, how they put them together, how they group them, etc.

Dude, I read somewhere that this is Shakira's teacher.

And remember, Shakira is not only a bellydancer. She sings, plays the guitar, and plays the harmonica. I went to one of her concerts and she did a belly dance with traditional music(not what she sings) and it was very good. But I do admit, in some of her belly dancing performances that I saw on TV weren't that good.

Shakira herself DOES know how to belly dance.  Bozenka was never Shakira's TEACHER. However, they worked together on some of her coreography which is in no way a bad thing.

Even the greatests dancers that we know today, all team up with coreographers for ideas. If you had done more research, you would have also found out that even though she has worked with coreogprahers, she usually ends up going with most of her own ideas anyway. Otherwise she would be looking like all the other cheap performances like Spears's belly dance performance of "Slave"

Bozenka has done some of Shakira's choreography, but she wasn't her teacher.

I saw an uploaded video soewhere on youtube of Shakira dancing at age 11, I think, to Lebanese music. It was okay for an 11-year-old.

Bottom line, Bozenka is MUCH better in my opinion.
