...Cont'd- If nothing else, from my past I have learned what "NOT" to do! I preferred my mistakes to be new ones.... not a regurgitation of the old.And you know what... I've done a damn good job of raising some emotionally balanced, productive, high-achieving children. By the way, I'm the mother of 10 children. I've also written my memoirs to serve as a road map to mine and other youngsters so they will never forget which pitfalls to dodge.
We, the now older generation have to put our childhood, unmet needs behind us... accept that what we didn't get is past and begin to utilize our experiences as a teaaching tool for the young folks. We have enough of a History (past experiences) to know what to give to this generation. I came from a household of substance, sexual, emotional, verbal and character abuse.... but this is not what I want for my children and I have worked hard to take another path for their good.
Pt 2. They want USE you, and they keep telling you you got something coming. Pandering. Problem is "hand outs" just empower them, give them the vote. Follow the Chinese in America. They and others know the REAL DEAL.
Whitey here. And, I say: combine innate ability and energy of young black people with populist libertarianism and you have one dynomite group of people. hey bros. Don't let those Hillarys out there suck up to. Cornel and Tavis. These are smart righteous dudes!
Why we want to start at the top and work our way down. Progression never works that way. Dissect the problem. Bashing never works. Disagree. It's healthy. But its played out! GRAVITY will allow things to fall. The message. Reach for the stars people. Carry another with you. Then,
no energy's 'WASTED on conflicts. Stop! It's expected. Climb UP, Create a new box. Having a hard time moving upward? Remain stuck in old complacency. ' STAND TOGETHER-UP Stand down. Then, Stand up- TOGETHER.
What in the name of goobalee glop am I, as a black person, supposed to get from this production? It just looks like a bunch of Pre-Obama icons trying to figure out their relevance Post-Obama. I hope the full movie is better than the trailer. Cause it ain't flyin'... *sigh it ain't flyin'.
Please....everyone check out the book "WHY ARE SO MANY BLACK MEN IN PRISON?" by Demico Boothe; the book is featured in this documentary and it is one of the most profound books I have ever read myself......
I sincerely hope that Tavis is not continuing his negative rant on President Obama. He is really a crab in a barrel. He chooses to do this now with all the issues that the president has on the table? He wants to be President Obama so badly the only thing Tavis is concerned with is lining his coffers.
half of that's true and half of it's not...Obama needs people to challenge him...it will make him better....we can't just sit back and trust him to do everything right all the time..
African-American-studies professor Cornel West, whom Summers badgered and forced out of Havard, said , "Larry Summers is the Ariel Sharon of American higher education. He acts like a bull in a china shop; he acts like a bully in a very delicate and dangerous situation...." Until he, himself, had to leave, Summers said --his adversaries were "professionally incomptent."
Ask Dr. West why Summers has to get out of his brainwashing Obama position now.
@december53 I don't see how Tavis is being negative. Like the saying goes.."if you love the people, you serve the people" Tavis has most definitely been serving the people. I don't feel it's about wanting to be Obama. He's merely saying he has to be held accountable for the policies decisions he makes and who he aligns his self with. At some point we have to move past symbolism to substance.

'I'm looking forward to this film. Hopefully we can open some constructive discussions about racism in this country. I do hope the hate and ignorance doesn't manifest in the comments people will leave here, but I predict they will and thus confirm what so many deny: "race" remains a defining issue of our time.
Very true. I just came across this trailer and before 2 minutes was up I was blown away. I truly feel this movie needed to be made at this time, and I hope that everyone who needs to see it..see it.
You're right about that. Some one is going to end up leaving a racially charged comment on this video, and everyone else will start cussing him out. There goes our constructive discussion, lol.
