Only really just realised how fantastic the Byrds actually was. Obviously i knew Tamborine Man (& think their version is better then Dylan's- sorry, lol), but never knew too much about them (being born maybe 20 years 2 late 2 be there lol) until reading about the similarities or the influence they had on The Stone Roses (which i love =D). Now i cant get enough of them!! Play their songs all the time! Great sound, great style, great..... era!! The times right for that scene to make its come back!
5:00 and on, Dylan reminds me of Adam Sandler in the wedding singer, at the time where he's just been left and is completely hungover, but still performing :D
is that jeff lynn on bass? thanks for posting this great interview.. Bob Costas is a good host, I only know him from those great Bulls Playoff games back in the early 90's.
@freqazoidiac If you're talking about the clip when Dylan joins them on stage then no it's not. It's Chris Hillman (now that you mention it I can see the resemblance though haha). Strange how the interviewer only mentions Crosby's name when introducing the clip.
A fascinating interview and a unique historical document which examines the significance of this unforgettable Sixties band. McGuinn exudes an unusually gifted musical perspective which still speaks to us today. The Byrds always offered a distinctive style with lyrics and songs of unique character, timeless grace and perpetual impact.
This is a great interview. Roger seems like a really nice guy. Thank God The Sullivan Show had the good sense in the end to let them sing that song in it's entirety!

Back From Rio. Have had it and enjoyed it ever since it was first released. Great album, and deserves more attention than it has received....
