@BENSON018 I've seen a dozen or so shoot interviews. Everyone I've seen, they all say the same thing. Haku is the toughest man they've ever seen in the buisiness. Bobby Heenan really talked nice about him
Poffo came along at the wrong time. Muscled up freaks dominating the WWF, they didnt know what to do with his aerial abilities....so he put all the freaks over and occasionally won these gimmick matches. Nice of him to write that, if in fact he was the one writing.
@sonny4425 Yet to hear him talk about it, he is grateful for the push he did receive and the money he did make. He praises Hulk Hogan for jobbing to him on prime time national TV. He doesn't spend a lot of time whining and complaining about what he didn't get. It's a breath of fresh air to hear one of his shoots.
He also retained his health and quite frankly seems to be a rare good role model for wrestling.
David was only there because Bruno was. Bruno was only there because David was. Eventually McMahon set up David to attack a fan and he fired him. Since then Bruno will have nothing to do with McMahon.
Because of Bruno, wrestling went out of it's way trying to push David. The problem, David was a loser, period! He had no abilities and he was trying to live off his daddy's good name.
I wonder if David liked the poem? Given that Poffo is himself a 2nd generation wrestler, I'm sure he can feel for David. Heck, Vince is second generation too.
If this match had happened on Raw, there would have been a vignette showing the Moondogs convincing Thornton to be their partner. That would have been GOLD!
@WildmanWoodie What a shame he was relegated to being a jobber because Thornton was one of the most technically and fundamentally sound grapplers in the business.
SANMARTINO? THORTON? Nice spelling, WWF.

It's a shame Thorton got stuck doing the job. He was a really good worker, just never got the big push.

@Derby14 I don't think so. I think it was just a way of saying that living up the the legend is an impossible task.

he was going to get a huge push but they switched bookers and the new booker didnt like him so he turned into a glorified jobber.

Lanny Poffo inspired RVD to do flips in his routine. Lanny was way ahead of his time with great mic skills!

What's funny about this, is that Poffo give a 1 minute tribute to Sammartino but then David does absolutely nothing in the match!
