  • its good to see so many people coming together like this to help, but if America had not been occupying and bombing Iraq for the last 10 years then maybe they wouldn't have found the need to come over and help bush blow up the trade centered, think about this as retaliation for bush's attempted genocide on a nation

  • My God, we must never forget the heroes, and never ever forget who our enemies are, they are stillout there and they want to destroy the very fabric of this great nation.

May God Bless America and those whodid all they could to help.

  • The enduring spirit of the american people is one like no other in this world. In times of destruction and desperation we become brothers and sisters. Politics, race, and religion mean nothing. Its an amazing thing.

  • these are the heros of 911. do you see what we could accomplish when americans work together?? when noone is of higher status , we r all equal ? amazing things happen when we all come together and help those in need. the only thing good that happened on 911 is that new yorkers worked together and helped each other. no one was left behind GOD BLESS NEW YORK AND GOD BLESS AMERICA <3

  • i almost cried. very touching on several occasions i had goosebumps. i wish they would put this on the news instead of political bullshit

  • After all the years, I never knew this story! It was amazing and brought tears to my eyes! The untold heros of 9/11! Thank you!

  • @montana187xxx Good, well please give us extensive and credible research to back up your extreme claims. Claiming that you've researched it, and that we haven't, isn't the same as proving your case. You make the most serious of claims of the most vicious criminality on the part of the US government. The onus is on you to back them up with reliable, cited, extensive proof.

  • @equesfuscus The evidence is there, you just need to do some research to come to the conclusion that governments are corrupt and our leaders do NOT have our best interest at heart. You can prove it for yourself by researching history, wars, politics etc. watch?v=5SjLwhZ8Hko&feature=channel_video_title This might answer some of your questions. Also watch this and realize how the government / media is telling us lies. watch?v=hRgmkCxn0Bo&feature=channel_video_title I hope you'll wake up,good luck

  • @equesfuscus You need to be very knowledgable to see the bigger picture. And the problem with most people is they are too busy with work and stuff to figure all this out themselves. And most people tend to blindly believe everything the media tells them, which is actually very stupid and ignorant. Most people will think im nuts for telling them the media is selling you lies, and that all the time, but yet its the truth. And now realize that almost every household has at least one TV and how ALL

  • @montana187xxx Another deluded 911 truther. Sound like they done give you a lethal dose of no brains like your "Freemen" buddies.

  • @tripleheshy I'm far from deluded buddy, but hey believe in whatever you want to believe, i honestly dont care. I would suggest you to do some research, especially in ancient history, you might learn and realize something from it. But i bet you'd rather watch some movies and pointless tv shows. Everything is alright, your government is in control, its there to help you thats why they came up with the new world order to make your life better, lol...Now go and watch some american gladiators ;)

  • @montana187xxx people are brainwashed into believing the same lies, so of course majority will always agree with each other. When in fact they all bought into a lie. You have no clue man, television / media is being used to shape and form the opinions of the masses. Its the ultimate control tool. We all have been programmed and conditioned to think in a certain way, sometimes our thoughts are not even our own. It's really deep man. You need to wake up from these illusions. Good luck my friend

  • @montana187xxx You presume too much by telling me to "wake up". You imply that you are "very knowledgable" about "history, wars, politics", which also presumes too much. You make an argument and claim authority, but your only evidence is a YouTube video. Yes, politicians lie, and some officials can be corrupt. Unfortunately, you engage in an egregious fallacy by claiming that absolutely everything is a brainwashing lie. The boatlift was an example of human decency, and that's it. Thank you.

  • @equesfuscus by claiming that absolutely everything is a brainwashing lie

not everything, but a awful lot. And when i mentioned research i actually meant that i've done my own research in certain fields, and not just watching youtube videos. But i dont expect you to believe me, nor is it my goal to convince you of anything. I honestly do NOT care, i mean thats free will, right? You can believe in whatever you want to believe, but take it easy my friend and good luck with everything ;)

  • the only day that seemed like everyone helped each other. And surprising enough to see, boatloads on Ellis Island to leave NYC. backtracking our immigration can I say? Everyone should think about this day as a lesson. A very touching day. Let this day never become an impact of negativity in our future.

  • Breathtaking images. We all would like to think we would react bravely in a bad situation, but these people were just incredible... To think they evacuated more people than they managed to rescue at Dunkirk is just mind blowing. I hope that the naysayers are wrong.

  • It is a lie. I am exposing it with my next video. The Captain is Richard Sexton (son in law to Maurice Greenberg) the Coast Guard Capt is the Actor on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Kyle's Sisters new boyfriend. You can even se BAM's Uncle Don as the old guy getting on the boat. ITS A SCAM!

  • @dallasgoldbug Wow, some seamless integration here. Half a million evacuated by boat from Manhattan in 9 hours- insane. They are pulling credulity like taffy to make it more pliable. Tom Hanks has to know exactly what he's doing. . .

  • WOW!

  • This is just an extraordinary example of the good people in the world,I mean If I lived in NY on that day I would have probaly hid in my house and not moved it takes very special people to step up and risk their lives to safe many more

    I'm 11 and live in Scotland,UK

but I have been to NY and its has some amazing sights and amazing people

    xxxx

    God Bless America xxx ♥

  • I DARE anybody to say anything about New Yorkers. Those people came together, weren't asked, Just did what had to be done. I'm not saying that other Americans don't come together, we DO and that's what makes US the Greatest Country...it's just the way my city stepped up, makes me so damn proud to be a New Yorker and an American. God Bless the U.S.A.!

  • Still on about those fucking towers, fuck me.

  • I like the line the one engineer uses..."I believe somebody has a little bit of hero in them, you just got to look in. It'll come out if need be." It is amazing what people can actually do when we come together and put all differences aside. It's things like this that help me keep my faith in humanity as a whole.

  • @rhoadesjoe Yeah, when he said that it made me tear up. I have to admit the whole thing made me cry. All those boats, so many who just wanted to help. No greed, no profit. It was just fuck it all~ we are under attack, how can I help? TRUE AMERICANS.

  • What amazing HEROES we are all blessed with in this world. Thank you, all those who participated in this story! I am touched beyond words.

    chefjoyce1@live.com

  • that pilots teeth are white as hell

  • Amazing

  • Amazing i love our country and were all so lucky to be here

  • 4 people get sea sick.

  • A true testament of the American Spirit!' but where was the prime time Liberal Media during all this heroic action. I never saw this on the net work news. Every American should see this.

  • This is america coming together to do what we do best...helping one another.

  • Great Job. Thank You for this video. God bless America and all those unsung heroes. This is something everyone must see.

  • May G-D bless all the people who have helpt all those people of Manhatten.

    They are real human beings.

  • I wish I could somehow contact every single captain of every boat that came to rescue these people. What an incredible, amazing, heart-warming story. It has renewed my faith in humanity. My new motto is "never say 'I should have'".

    God bless America!!!

  • I cannot believe that it has been 10 years and this is the first time I have heard about this. The men and women involved in piloting boats that day and the US Coast Guard for organizing the evacuation, deserve a special day of recognition. God Bless each and every one of them!!

  • GREAT JOB CARLITO IT SHOWS THE UNSEEN HEROS THAT NO ONE TALKED ABOUT.I COULD FEEL THESES PEOPLES EMOTION & DRIVE TO HELP ALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO NEEDED TO GET OFF THE ISLAND.I HAD NO IDEA IT WAS LIKE THAT THAT DAY.THE AMBERJACK IS OUTTA SHEEPSHEAD BAY. GOOD JOB AGAIN

  • What a great film for anyone to watch for America to watch.

  • I did see several reports about the water evacuation on 9/11 and after, but I enjoyed hearing more. What a great thing they all did.

  • MAKES ONE SO PROUD OF OUR COUNTRYMEN. GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND THE PEOPLE IN IT.

  • How come there is o media coverage of this magnificent story? Thanks you for this beautiful video.

  • I got chills watching all those boats uniting together full speed ahead. It's ones of those few times that society actually bands together, no thought, just acting as one group. Like when an ambulance comes racing down the street and everyone moves.... It's unexplainable wonder how this happens- how we act as one whole. Why can't we help eachother now? When there is no devastation? Why does it have to be under circumstances like this where we help eachother? Why not in our everyday lives?

  • I don't believe I ever saw this on television. What an amazing story. This should be shown. Its a story of strength and unity. Shows how Americans come together in the wost times.

  • I still remember how I saw the second building hit and then the two implode..........it must be what it was like when people heard about Pearl Harbor..........disbelief, grief, outrage, a myriad of emotions all at once.

God shed His grace on us........

  • Unsung hero's....bless you all

  • I guess the media missed this one

  • I have the urge to make a tribute video of these guys,hmmmmmmm.....you know what? I WILL.

  • who could possibly dislike this??? I watched it over and over again, about 30 times and i cried each and every time

  • Im a Canadian. This video is amazing. Im glad to have America as a neighbour. God bless America.

  • @dustinbir God bless you brother.

  • Wonderful. I love the United States.

And Tom Hanks never ceases to amaze me. So unlike too many in Hollywood.

  • America Is Heroic and Exceptional, like No other country!!

  • I am at a total loss for words. Damn sure am proud to be a american.

  • wow, WOW! Like so many others, i had no idea. Thanks so much for sharing this valuable history!

  • GOD bless you all. You are the unsung heroes and the angels that walk among us. THANK YOU for your service

  • When American people come together as one you seen the results God Bless all the boaters that had a part in serving thier fellow americans to safety thank yoy for saving the lives of those in thier hour of need .

    Best1fishman

  • OMG! I survived 'Nam and then Gulf War, but this was a real tear-jerker and makes me glad to know we are a country of people that will lend a hand, no matter the risk to ourselves.

  • @excuzzzeme - Thank YOU for Serving. WELCOME HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are so VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!

  • They say, "Don't watch too much violence, or you'll get desensitized.," but I will never get insensitive to this kind of hatred.

  • This is so American. I love it.

  • At about 9:36, a man says something to the effect that, "you forget all about what you're supposed to do, what they teach you in school. And, you say, you know what? - morally, this is the right way to go, and deep down, this is what I'm gonna do." This is the feeling every single person needs to discover in order to rise up together and overthrow our corrupt government. We know what we've been taught in school - to listen and obey. It's time we take out the garbage.

  • Nice video but he didn't "save" anybody. Fact is not one person who waited to get off Manhattan that day died. Not one! They either boated off, biked off, walked off, or stayed on. He just expedited their departure. A noble gesture but from from saving lives...

  • @gwbyer your hindsight is 20/20. They didn't know there would not be another attack. They didn't know that someone with a life threatening issue or medical condition was not desperate for escape to medical help (and maybe there were, smart guy). And by helping those trapped people off the island they freed up the services of the police and fire crews to help those in greater need. Far from a just a noble gesture. I hope you're not the only one around if I ever need help.

  • @gwbyer you're wrong. the boatlift allowed emergency services to concentrate on helping the people on ground zero, helped people get back to their homes quicker to take care of their kids and sick at home, diminished the human suffering in that area both physically and psychologically, just to mention a few benefits of the boatlift. think before you post.

  • wow, I have no words.

  • Thank you for sharing this beautiful story! God bless these brave men and women and the families effected. That day we all became New Yorkers. God bless America!

  • I have never seen this before! Powerfull! I have a knot in my stomach & tears in my eyes. God bless all American who come through in time of need!

  • "I never want to say the word 'I should have'. If I do it and I fail, I tried. If I do it and I succeed, better for me"

... "Never go through life saying you should have. If you want to do something, you do it"

  • Wow, all this time and this is the first I heard of this. Does prove how wonderful it is to be an American, especially in time of crisis.

  • Great job, Eyepop. I hadn't heard this story. Beautifully produced.

  • nice clip

  • This clip made me cry. I have to admit I almost forgot 9/11 tragedy until I saw this clip. In some way, I think we are bleeding still in many ways. God Bless America

  • the 2 people who disliked this are clearly worthless anti-american cowards

  • The quote at 8:23 , well said my friend , too bad we all cant do this every day.

  • love that amberjack guy at the beginning. what a real, good person.

  • There should be no DISLIKES. Human Nature. Forget your naive politics. Do It. Time for saving people. Many volunteer medics, fireman do it every day!!!

  • Gave me chills, how together are nation can be at such an unknown and scary time.

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again: Never underestimate Americans! We can be proud of our fortitude, our attitude and our triumphs in the face of disaster.

  • I knew this boatlift had taken place, but I had no idea it was this magnitude.. This video brought me to tears.

  • It was absolutely incredible. These unsung heroes have a great deal to be proud of and it's definitely time for them to be thanked by all Americans. Thank you and God Bless America!

  • My heartfelt gratitude to every Captain, engineer, crew operator, every tugboat operator who responded without haste, thank you to Mr. Rosenstein and Eyepop Productions and actor Tom Hanks for telling this untold story, and thank you to those of you heroes who participated in the largest evacuation in history of all our US brothers and sisters. It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside to those of you who responded and did what you did. Just knowing you exist and are out there. You have my heart.

  • touching...

  • modern day dunkirk.this will show that good will always triumph over evil. we have to remember that there are many more good people in the world than there are bad. and this is a reminder to all terrorists and dictators out there, we will not be beaten.

  • That was the most inspirational thing I have seen in years.

  • We are at our best when things are the worst. God Bless America.

  • Fantastic video. It just shows the we may have some differences in life, but when it come down to it we pitch in and do what needs to be done. God Bless America!

  • amazing!

  • Hurrah!

  • True Americans. Unmentioned Heroes. God Bless and Thank You.

  • God Bless these boats, boat owners..

  • Amazing in itself--and doubly amazing the comparison with Dunkirk!

  • Heroes are great in the time of need. This Country was hurting that day and is still hurting. We need heroes to step up and provide jobs and food for the hungry.

  • The best protection we have is the care we give each other. Human to Human.

The financial down turn is as much a disaster as 9-11. I hope we can deal with it with as open a heart as those boat men did on 9-11

  • I can't even imagine the horror all you New Yorkers went thru that day. Absolutely devastating to say the least as we watched on our televisions. I know we felt helpless being thousands of miles away and watching this terror unfold. I sat mesmerized in front of the television for hours and finally, about 7pm, got in my car and went up to the store to make a purchase. I bought Our American Flag and hung it outside my house as I asked God to help and bless all of you ...

  • While I knew about "a" boat lift and had seen some stills showing it, nothing came close to what this video shows... Thanks so much for posting it and thanks to Tom Hanks for narrating it!

  • What a great theory to have in life. This video has changed my thinking a lot. His theory, "I have one theory in life, I never want to say the words - I should have. If I do it and I failed, then I tried. If I do it and succeed, better for me. I tell my children, Never go through life saying I should have. If you want to do something, then do it." May God Bless him and his family and the others who participated in the 9/11 rescue as well.

  • Hope Floats!

  • So sad that this was not known until 10 years after 9/11.

    Thank you for posting this!

  • This is a great story and was unknown to me until I watched the video. God bless all those who participated in the rescue.

  • Finally -- the story of the men and women of the harbor who moved a half million people to safety in less than 9 hours. As an eyewitness to those events I saw tugs, sightseeing boats, harbor cabs, fireboats, coast guard, private vessels come to the aid of hundreds of thousands. Thanks for sharing this incredible story of herosim and valor. BTW, I made it across to Jersey City on a boat named Albatross. Lou

  • O my, I cried. How I cried. Humanity. Never give up on the tender, good side of all men. Thank You SO much for this video. SO uplifting.

  • Reminiscent of the BEF evacuation of Dunkirk in WWII

  • This is what New Yorkers and Americans are all about... wearing their hearts on their sleeves....all pulling together in a time of need. All for one and one for all!! God love you my fellow Americans!!

  • No one who went through it will ever forget that day. I left on the Staten Island ferry about 3:00. After watching this video, I know again it was the worst of times and the best of times.

  • GOD BLESS THIS MAN AND ALL THE PEOPLE THAT HELPED AS WELL ,THERE IS A PLACE IN HEAVEN RESERVED FOR THEM.

    "UNPAZZO"

  • God Bless all those individuals that stepped up to the call of duty

  • Totally Amazing!!! Makes me Proud to be an American!

  • Why would someone react to this as funny...

  • Amazing!!!! I had no idea this happened. Ten years have past and yet another heart wretching story of the selflessness of ordinary people doing extra-ordinary things. Living in southwest, it makes me so proud that Americans respond so compassionately at a moments notice to lend a helping hand to our brothers and sisters. God Bless America!!!

  • @gloriaenriquez2 YOU said it right that was what i was trying to say. My good friends son did the editing & i think he put it together right to show every1 else what these people were feeling & the drive they had to just (like u said) selflessly help. Jen

  • You cannot help but to be overwhelmed with emotion in watching this film.

  • This makes me proud to be an American!

  • How can you watch this video and not cry? When it matters most we come together and help each other. So proud to be an American.

  • @onefodderunit

You're an idiot. Only an America hating moron like yourself could make the negative comment you make about comments made on a heroic video. The only lie here is that you have a brain fool.

  • @abentura2007 I agree. That person is an idiot. Too much public schooling.

  • @abentura2007

I'm a Washingtonian. Statesman of the late Rachel Corrie. Rather than name call, why don't you attempt to refute my point.

  • This film was amazing. I didn't even realize this happened until I saw the clip. It has to warm the heart of God to see so many of his children step outside of their every day lives, and become quiet and unassuming heros's the day the twin towers came down. It is so amazing, and so wonderful to know that so many of our people were so unconcerned for their own lives that day, and stepped up and were concerned about people in need that day. God bless the wonderful people of our nation<3

  • I didn't hear much about this on the West Coast. I am really proud that New Yorkers got together and made it happen. This makes me proud to be American.

  • No surprise - this IS America - that is our founding and everlasting principle and morality. that is what makes us outstanding from other countries and civilizations of this world

  • Comment removed

  • This really changed my mind about how America really came together as a nation that day.

  • I have been so proud of our Country! We handled this tragedy with honor.

This video shows how one person can start a movement! How we all band together.

God Bless The American Spirit. United We Stand!

  • This just makes me feel so many emotions I can't even describe it!

  • I am so proud yet not surprised of the heroism of humanity!!!

  • True heroism and humanity at it's best!

  • This is what makes me proud to be an American!!!

  • This is the American people we love talk about true heros. God bless you all. And thank you for what you did.

  • Brought tears to my eyes remembering that day but also pride hearing for the first time this story of compassion for all the boat operators responding to help all they could in this disaster.

  • Comment removed

  • Absolutely one of the best stories of 9/11. What we can do when we all consider ourselves Americans.

  • This is the so touching. Thanks for posting.

  • Truly Blessed by the generosity of your hearts and American Spirit

  • Wow!!! Tears of anger...tears of joy...tears of patriotism...so touching...please visit my youtube video..."Forget It" The 9/11 Remembrance Song by Dave Crowley

  • Wow Wow Wow - I'd heard about this story from a friend, but now seeing if for the first time reinforces the power of the human spirit and what it is to be an American. So many unsung heroes walk among us - what an inspiration...

  • This is a true HERO!

  • Why didn't we hear about this on any news shows. This is an incredible film.

  • this is incredible! all the heroes

  • This video definitely is touching...and shows how we can come together when in need in the face of such chaos. God Bless The USA!

  • And we all helped each other. Yes, we had fireman and policemen and other government agencies doing what they have been trained to do. But this guy on the video takes his boat and GOES! He just GOES!

THAT is being American. Just go and do it. We can do that now in this country. We don't need to be told what to do. We know what to do. When are we gonna start?

  • I am proud to be an american--we come together when the going gets tough! I never realized that many people were evacuated by boat that day. More heroes to thank!!

  • I never knew......!!!

  • I am so choked up right now. This is what the country I love truly represents. Unity and Bravery.

  • !0 years later.................. what a great story of people helping people.

So proud of those that took action and responded to help those people leave Manhattan at a time of t5he unknown. GOD BLESS THEM!! They are hero's to me. What a great story. I can't believe we did not here about this sooner. I guess there are lots of untold stories just waiting to be told. GOOD JOB

  • As a Coast Guardsman, this film makes me so proud! Far too few Americans realize what our service does to keep this country and it's citizens safe. Thank you so much to the filmmakers for sharing this story! BM3

  • This is amazing. These people are true true heroes.

  • People are amazing when faced with a crisis and I believe most human beings will do anything if humanly possible to help someone else! Thank you boat operators!!!

  • Oh my god

  • Being a Captain myself I thank you all for helping out.

  • GOD BLESS THESE PEOPLE....THEY WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. BUT THEY ARE AMERICANS AND THAT MAKES THEM REAL SURVIVORS AND FOR THE BOAT RESCUERS, THEY ARE REAL ...I MEAN REAL GOD BLESS THESE PEOPLE....THEY WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. BUT THEY ARE AMERICANS AND THAT MAKES THEM REAL SURVIVORS AND FOR THE BOAT RESCUERS, THEY ARE REAL ...I MEAN REAL HUMANATARIANS AND ARE RESPECTED AND LOVED TREMENDOUSLY. YES I SAY AGAIN GOD BLESS YOU EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU.

  • A lovely sight of the goodness of human beings...

  • Touching. Thanks for putting this together. Thanks for doing what you did.

  • This peice was unbeleivable. I was out of state for a week when our country was hurt so horribly , so I didn't get to see local tv, and to see what so many local people did to help their fellow men and women and children. Just when you are so down on what the world is becoming, you see something like this. Amazing. I,am so proud to be an American. God bless the USA!

  • Thanks to those that put this short together, and passed on such a wonderful story during such a terrible time. And thanks to all of those brave and wonderful seamen who did what was right on a day of terrible wrongs by cowards.

  • God Bless the Amberjack and private citizens like Vincent Ardolino !!!! We need to take care of ourselves and help each other. We can't depend on Gov't.

  • @kelley66 The Staten Island Ferry rescued thousands of people on 9/11. It's part of the fleet of the City of New York. Our firefighters and policemen lost their lives while rescuing citizens who needed them, and many are still dying from illnesses acquired on 9/11. Would you deny their sacrifice?

The spirit of the private citizens who answered the call is beautiful, but what was more beautiful was how they all worked together, public and private.

It's a shame to tear down that spirit.

  • God Bless the Amberjack and private citizens like Vincent Ardolino !!!! We need to take care of ourselves and help each other. We can't depend on Gov't.

  • I see that a lot of poster here missed the fact that it was the Government captains on the Government boats who were there first and were the ones who called for help. And I would bet that is was Government workers who did the coordinating to see that ship did not run into each other.

  • @mach037 EXACTLY! This incredible spontaneous boat-lift should be a powerful example of how this Nation should function ... individuals coming together by their own decision for a common goal.

  • "Everyone helping everyone" - that is the way it should be. No need for Government help, just let the people help themselves and their neighbors.

  • makes me so proud of what my school did that day...i'll never forget
