  • Musicality - speed.

    Good though.

  • BRAVO!!!!

  • The beginning needs to Be slower other than that it's awesome

  • IF SOMEONE PREFER SLOW FEEL FREE TO SEE MY PLAYING

  • The piano is amazing,it has a wonderful sound. And to make it work, please keep your fingers a bit longer on the notes. The piano doesn`t bite:) Please don`t make it staccato

  • too fast, not amazing, and u mess up a lot and added a few extra notes, which ruin the piece, no emotion either which is something u need, keep practicing

  • very well! but with all my respect, it´s too fast, notes are too forte, and there´s a lot of pedal. Try not to push all pedal. Should sound as having sordina. Close your eyes and imagine as play it for the love of your life.Soft touch, enjoy every note.

  • in your dreams,,, that version does not exist..

  • zu schnell.... das vid is eig gut, ich spiele selbst Piano, aber du

    spielst zu schnell.. MEHR GEFÜHL!!

Too fast... this vid is good stuff, i play piano for myself, but you are too fast... more feelings!!

  • @MRSsaschaline er schreibt doch, dass das eine neue Version ist. Künstlerische Freiheit!

  • a bit fast. like the others said you have to feel the music and let it soak in you. other wise it sounds like everyone elses. feel the music and slow down. otherwise you did a great job. i applaud you

  • How long does it take a beginer to become this good,on average ( I know people vary obviously) I am just starting out and would love to be able to play this and play it this well.

  • @entertainmentNmusic, it depends on your musical experience. ive been playing around without lessons for a few months and can do this but i play many other instruments so i get my finger dexterity and such from that, and this only helps. i also already am quite versed in musical theory so.. there was much less for me to learn. but hmm.. maybe in a like, 6 or more months id say you could pull this off?

  • I cant find the perfect version of moonlight sonata :(

  • uiuiui tooooooo fast, and you should giv it more feeling. its beethoven and not rammstein ;) but great job

  • Slow it down a little bit.

  • i wuld slow down a tad bit but good job!!!

  • i agree with the others, great job, though slow the hell down! xD

otherwise, lovely:) i adore the beethoven sonatas:)

  • I first heard the song at target at the touch to play song demos ever since i luved the song btw this guy is just like Beethoven

  • This sounds breathtaking :O

Probably because I have no idea how it SHOULD sound and because I'm not very known with strict classical music. Anyway, I'm probably going to have a shock if I listen to the "real" version judging from the comments here...

  • Why so fast? You must fell every note...

  • I agree absolutely with you!!!

  • nice job, but it could be better if you slow down the tempo a little bit

  • Nice work! It is a bit fast/hasty for my liking, but still VERY good!

Try experimenting with tempo to get more emotion into the piece... (it will make it more dramatic)

  • well you got the right notes......

  • love the

    song !

  • Amazing job! I also play the piano and I play this song. I love Beethoven. (=

  • too much resonance! (record it a few feet more away) and tune the piano. and play a little slower than that. tempo 60 to be exact! if you do that, it would be great!

  • Beautiful! I realize everyone on this board is an "expert" on how it should be played but it is your own style and I love it.

  • without pathos è.é

    breathe!

  • Beautiful.

  • Trop carré, sans émotions ...

  • good, but a bit too fast

  • はやい!!

  • ´Não sei porque mais esta sonata me faz a chorar!!!!!!é linda!!!!!!!

  • Good technique. Emotionless tho

  • this is such a beautiful song.

and you play it perfectly, a little fast but still amazing.

  • Why are you rushing it? The whole reason this song is slow because Beethoven wanted to express his agony of falling in love with someone who didn't love him back, by making the song slow, it shows how he felt, like the pain would never go away, and if it did, it would go slowly.

  • wow, you just perfectly explained the song for me. thank you. it is absolutely gorgeous and i now see that it is rushed...

  • duuude, whats´s the rushhhhh sloooow dooownnn!!! other than that its pretty good :)

  • I love this song I really like

  • sloooow doooown. wheres the emotion

  • It's Adagio Sostenuto and you're playing it like it was F1 race. Slow down the tempo. Also, since it's sostenuto you should slow it further down at some points to make it feel dynamic. Despite some errors you play it quite well and with some polish you will do it great.

  • As we practice and practice and we struggle to get all our notes just right, it is easy to forget that there is more to music than just the right notes. Remember that music sometimes flies, yet sometimes it cries; sometimes it is joyous, yet sometimes it helps us grieve. Music is a powerful thing, and it can be a force for good in the world, even a force for peace. Let it flow the way you want, not the way others want.

  • Very good. :]

  • oh mrpimp5061 shut the hell up you douche bag

  • Hey take your time, calm down and enjoy you interpretation! Youre good anyway

  • okay...well..this song is way too fucking fast really wat did this guy take red bull b4 playin da piano???

  • It sounds wonderful just how he's playing it. Quit complaining.

  • it would sound soo much better if you slowed it down a bit

  • Stop telling him to slow down. Jesus, he can play it however he likes.

  • But Beethoven didn't write "play however you like" on the music, he wrote it for the Adagio tempo, which means SLOW! Usually, this movement should last at least a minute longer than he played it! It's meant to be a tender soft movement, it's the sad first movement where Beethoven described the distance from the girl he loved. This guy's copying the way Glenn Gould did it, who destroys Beethoven music since he's only good at interpreting Bach, and then everything else he plays turns into Bach.

  • I can agree with what you are saying, but I was just trying to reason that in my opinion, the player should be free to play the music however it appeals to him most. It's an interpretation, and it's nice to break the mold every now and then. Music would get boring if we all played everything the same way.

  • No, that's where the musicality comes in, YOUR own emotion of the piece, that's what makes it unique, you're saying the person should make it unique by changing the music itself, no, the person makes it their own unique performance by the musicality, obviously you don't understand that, music isn't just in the notes, it's the music itself, otherwise it's like looking at a piece of steak that looks good but tastes very plain, like wood.

  • Because yeah, it's supposed to be the way Beethoven wrote it. If your argument is "play however you like" then put your own emotion in it, but don't change the notes or the rhythm, because then it makes it a different piece. The way this guy's playing it sounds like a march, and that's not how Moonlight Sonata was meant to sound, it's supposed to sound like a slow and tender sad piece showing the distance between Beethoven and Countess Giulietta Guicciardi.

  • Your arrogant tone displeases me. There's no need to challenge my musical knowledge, so get off your fucking high horse and quit making assumptions.

  • Arrogant tone? Since when am I being arrogant? I'm just simply correcting your "knowledge," if any, about music. You're the one who's getting angry because you know you've just been corrected. I'm saying, what's the point of Beethoven writing the music the way he writes it if people change it anyways? Then there's really no point in writing his music. So wipe your tears away and get this in your head before stating such ignorant comments. :)

  • No, but I stick by my original argument. If somebody wants to change the tempo of a piece because they prefer it that way, then that should be perfectly acceptable. Some people just play piano for themselves, not intended for the hearing of others.

Again, get off your fucking high horse, and quit acting like you're a fucking expert in the field. Utter cunt.

  • I know a few things, but I don't know everything and I'm not acting an expert. And why don't you stop getting so angry, stop crying and wipe those tears and stop cursing. Plus, it doesn't seem like you really do know anything anyways since you play on one of those hundred dollar keyboards and play Glenn Gould's version of Moonlight Sonata. You're just mad because I insulted your idol. Geez, it's not MY fault he was an alcoholic and had mental issues!

  • The quality of my keyboard, and Glenn Gould's mental issues have nothing to do with this argument. I posted that video as an experiment to see how it felt to play this at a faster tempo.

    It was an INTERPRETATION. Pinpoint.

Why am I wasting my time on cunts like you? Seriously now, fuck off and take your fucking head out of your arse while you are at it.

  • Ahh but it's not a matter of opinion. What mario54671 is saying is that music has boundaries. Let me give an example comparing its boundaries to other things. You're saying, screw the rules. Just like screw the law if I wanna kill someone, I have the ability to do it, it's just common sense that you're not supposed to take somebody else's life. Or if I'm in a movie theater, I don't just put my feet and stretch my body out on other people, sure I have the ability to do it, but it's wrong.

  • So it's not what "he thinks", it's the truth. That's how we're able to identify the composer's music. Mozart, Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Schuman, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, etc. This guy here broke the boundaries, and now it's not a Beethoven piece anymore. Because breaking the boundaries isn't interpreting the music, interpreting the music is your musicality like what he said.

  • either way its not about how good someone can play the song its about the song its self. think about it, Beethoven was def and never even heard this song but he wrote it in his head with no piano do you get what i mean?

  • i can play this piece the masterpeice edition and i mean the way i see music is not technical plaing to the 100% degree like a machine add feeling ect but dude SLOW THE FUCK DOWN no offense but this piece is much better played slower and sofer with more feeling! no offense other than that you are awsome to play this peice! :

  • Si tu jouais moins rapidement et que tu ne piquais pas certains accord, ce serait parfait.

  • BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!!Lucia.

  • oh you are really good.. wow

i´ve a question: can you send me the notes ?

i´m trying to learn this song soo long but i can´t find the notes..

    this will be very nice..

    greats susii

  • you did really goood!!!

and i play it that fast too

    so dont worry its fine

  • SLOW DOWN!

  • TOO FAST

  • This is really too fast! You musn't play it so fast. Of course it is funny but this is not the spirit of the theme. More over, you make errors, you have to work on the partition.

    Good luck !

  • totally agree

  • mantened el tiempo :)

    fast...and beautyfull.

  • süper

  • great bass hand.

  • whenever i hear this song it gives me creeps up my back even though its irresistable. i also think of a 2 cas closed episodes.

  • sweet im learning that rite now and it is VERY hard 2 learn but nice work

  • it sounds so sad but it's beautiful at the same time.

  • i really wanna play this piece! it's hard to understand the notes! great work!

  • En verdad debes tocarla mas lento, no se puede sentir el cambio de fuerza alugnas partes pero todo lo demas esta perfecto no erraste nada bien.

  • let him play it like he wants.. its not like beethoven gonna come outta the dead and torture him for it.. gwash ppl!

  • you're right. it wouldn't sound nice if it was too slow now will it?

  • no lol it would just be reli boring.. ive heard it before.. its sad how ppl make this piece boring

  • i bet he would if he could because ppl say he was a perfectionest

  • way too fast

  • ARE U ALL REATRDED??? ALL THE PEOPLE is saying too fast, saying it one time is enough.

    Nice work man.

  • exac-atacly

  • that was wonderful and it wasnt bad but isnt the song supposed to be slower? i would prefer u to play it again slower however it was still beautiful. 'great job!

  • sorry but I found that way to fast.

  • man to fast u need to go slower feel it...

  • Brilliant! I love it played loud and fast like it.. its so much more exciting then when played the conventional way! I love to give it a bit more umphh when I play it !

  • This goes in my BEETHOVEN;MOONLIGHT SONATA AS STERILE CONSERVATORY FARCE playlist....

  • A little too fast like people have been pointing out but it could be that you are nervous, and a little too loud I would suggest playing it quieter but this is how YOU think the song should be played so ignore the critics and be proud that you can even play this!

  • Bit too fast, but pro anyways. xD.

  • Heavenly :)

  • Its supposed be slower than this

  • Not bad..Check my video out..MAybe someday i'll finish this song..

  • I'm sorry but this is not the song! Most people will think im crazy but im not because, this are the notes thats right maybe the right technique. But this is bad there are 3 voices in the peace (Sorry for my bad englisch) the accords (have to bee carring for the peace) than you have the second voice the middle voice it has to be PP Pianisimo!!!! This is MF of mabye Forte. Than you have the medley this has to be P piano!!!!

So this isn't moonlight sonate 1st movement. Hope i helped!

  • slower is the best for this song but other that that great job

  • good job and all but can u go a slower?

  • to fast

  • Great job, just a little too fast.

  • Aha! I liked it reaaally much because i was thinking that only i play this song "so fast" ^^ If I play it normal then im getting scared that i can fall asleep ^^ It's so nice when it's normal too but it makes me sleepy i don't know how :D Good Job ;)

  • still good

  • too fast slow it down.

    but your good

  • Not just too fast, need to more emphasize on the higher notes which are the basic melody.

  • good job!! i love this song...

  • muito calmo, muito tranquilo , de muita paz interior. obrigado Brasil

  • one of the greatest pieces of music this plane of existence will ever hear. there is greater music, but you must go where beethoven went to hear such beautiful magical music of the gods.

  • to fast

  • Ouch... all you guys are throwing stones man... lol... I know I can't play that even that good, So I hope all the critics know how to play it better then him.

Besides the point Great job man I love this song, serisouly in my top 5 favorites!

  • this is soooo fast, but good, you should be a littler quieter and more feeling, more rubato and dynamics.but good

  • youtube is all about critics...

    i liked it

  • i like it, good job

  • really fast (i can play it)

  • One person says slow down the tempo and all of a sudden everyone who watches this video talks like they know the song by heart. He played the piece, and it was accurate regardless of the tempo. Good Job Westbee.

  • i know it by heart. others may not, but i guess everyone has heard the song at least once, and find the tempo rather disturbing. it's melancholy, must crawl, not run. what makes a good piano player is not just getting the right notes and master the technique, but the feeling and interpretation he puts on the song. it has to come from the guts. yeah, he plays alright, but he's still too worried about making a mistake to slow down and feel it properly. more confidence should fix that.

  • Too fast slw down feel it... is a very nice song ne of my favourites but slow down take it easy

  • some mistakes guy....

  • No fellings at all

  • insanely choppy. pedaling and fingering need work. way to fast. are you sure you're not a robot?

  • sencillamente un maestro, pero es cierto el tempo es muy rapido, aunque la emocion y el sentimiento es lo que verdaderamente cautiva

  • plays it with emotions......

  • I find this hard to play when I started playing this song. :(

  • the notes are perfect but it would be much better and more beautiful if you slow it down

  • PERFECT!

  • You play it a very fast tempo, but I personally like it more that way

  • A little too fast....

  • no... that's not the right tempo... It should be a little slower..

  • im trying to learn how to play this

  • perfect!

finally someone who plays it just at the right tempo

  • This song sounds a little sad...

  • Well, it meant to be sad...

  • His life is always sad though his a great pianist. He became deaf, he never maried though he fell in love many times, his nephew just gone after joining the military and didn't showed up showed up anymore...

  • i like this music but slow down a little

  • the tempo was kinda too fast but its still nice but if you do it slower it would be perfect

  • CISTO DEI

  • Un poco rápida, pero a mí me gusta más así :)

  • Watch Wilhelm Kempff on you tube and you will understand much better how to interpret this master piece. Enough said!

  • ummm weird i got another note

  • Relax, take it easy ;) Soon I'll upload new version of this sonata. It will be slower, I promise. Be patient ;)

  • I kind of like it faster. ^_^ You play beautifully.

  • is it by ear? or...

    anyway nice i like it

  • No, it's not by ear. I play with notes. Thanks anyway :)

  • Yeah, slow it down about four beats per minute.

  • Magnífico...

  • mmmhh... yeah man you're just too fast and out of voicing, correct these aspects

  • I have heard this song a billion times and feel that it is going too fast. It needs to be a mellow and slow song. Its like a long and sad melody, its a bit too fast. I think it needs more feeling. yet, its superb other than that.

  • To fast!!!!!!

  • i think faster is 10x better, but thats my opinion

  • Too fast.

  • very good

  • hermOza piiesa!

  • AAAAAGH!!!!

ok, this is not a piece to be pounded! I understand you aren't a pro...but please treat the piece with romanticism...like you are holding the most beautiful girl on earth in your arms. You don't say nasty things to her, or crush her. Tenderly, affectionately, try to convey those...instead of technicality so much.

  • too fast....common prblem...pedeling at beg?--umm good work tho

  • way way too fast

  • Despite what others say, I think you play beautifully.

  • Yeah.

  • Try picturing the moonlight. Fast? Or is it Slow? Slow the tune don't a little and you should get it perfect. Very nice though ^^

  • I agree...it is 3x the normal tempo it is usually played at. Also, you arent playing with any emotion at all, which is key to preformance. It seemed robotic to me.

  • Way to fast, and sounds like a human metronome! show some emotion, or atleast more dynamics. It's a song that seems easier than it looks, more practice is what it needs. Good luck, i hope my comment helped.

  • niesamowite, naprawdę świetne!!!!

  • PAH!

Der Notentext mag ja gekonnt sein, aber die Synamik ist doch unter aller Sau

  • andele andele arribba! slow down! very nice though :)

  • too fast ^^

  • very relaxing

  • Awsome ")

  • nice 1
