  • I just had my first horology lesson. Thanks for such an informative vid.

  • @roccotool How did my video compare to your fist horology lesson?

  • I am 13 years old and i live and breath old pocket watches i just love learning something new everyday and i have learned a ton of new things from you and for that i say thank you!

  • @joshualancto Thank you for the comment. If I can warp just one mind all this has been worthwhile. Contributions for the cause are gladly accepted but are not tax deductible.

  • I wish I could take a watchmakers class somewhere. This is a dying art, you my friend are very talented. Thank you for sharing!

  • @medranofamilytx I second that, fine Sir.

  • This was really great. I just visited the Waltham factory the weekend of the International Steampunk City festival. It's a shame that such an impressive factory that once produced the world's premeir timepiece is now being turned into condos.

  • its not a pallet fork, its an English Lever Escapement. The biggest problem I have in working with an 1883 is I hand wind in a new mainspring. I have a hell of a time getting the "T" of the mainspring to stay in the hole in the mainspring barrel. I sometimes use a forceps to hold it in place, but it often scratches the underside of the barrel...

  • @Waltham1892 I installed a couple of mainsprings by hand myself and I understand the difficulty of getting the "T" to stay put. I then said to myself there must be a better way and there is. I bought a mainspring winder. A job is always done easier with the proper tools. It is so easy now and you won't damage the mainspring or barrel by trying to force the mainspring into the barrel. I plan on making a vdeo soon.

  • '@bunnspecial Great video. I love pocket watches but I haven't taken one completely apart as I don't think I would ever get it back together again, i've got respect for people who do. Did you reassemble it without many problems?

  • @uncled39 Reassembly was easier than I thought. I have done a number of these 18 size full plates so practice makes perfect. While I had it apart I cleaned the pivots and adjusted the hairspring (the tick tick was not evenly spaced).
