  • nice utilikilt, got few of utilikilts of my own

  • I use a open 10" grinder wheel and use the sides of the wheel and it works great

    REN/TEN Kustums

  • are you (and everybody) using zink for the handlerivets?

  • Wearing a skirt and a pink shirt. Your balls must get carpet burns when you walk around your house.

  • hey Mate I like ya skirt??? was it home maded or store brough? I'm not meaning to sound rude I'm just wondering thats all.. and I like the clip too.

  • Makermook- Been watching and learning.. I'm 46, but have been living in apartments until the last 5 or 6 years.. got 7 acres now.. I always wanted to forge.. I'm collecting tools and knowledge now. It's great that you document your progress and learning experiences, your triumphs as well as your not so triumphant results. Seriously, that is awesome.. So thank you.

  • I totally love that kilt! I've never seen one designed for craftsman. Unfortunately I work on roofs sometimes and I don't think the boss would appreciate it... LOL

  • @maestrocup LOL! Yeah, kilts and ladders have probably never been a popular combination! hahaha

  • a few months ago i lost the feeling in my fingers on my right hand do to an accident.. If i came up with a design and got the material.. would would someone like yourself charge to forge, grind, shape, and sharpen a knife....

also is that a tactiakilt... looks like one that John Fitzen wears

  • @hawkdlb06 Bummer about your hand. I hope you recover quickly. As to your project, send me a PM and we can discuss it. And I don't know who John Fitzen is, but what I'm wearing in this video is a Utilikilt brand kilt. It's tough as a rock and has a bunch of pockets and tool loops...great for shop work.

  • how did you center the bevel so it was an even angle on both sides of the blade

  • its called a belt grinder but good job so far

  • @abcdefg82264 The thing with the spinny wheels that shoots sparks all over? Bench grinder. The thing in the background with the "belt" of sandpaper? Belt grinder.

  • its called a belt grinder

  • nice skirt fag wtf

  • @ninja6kid It's called a "kilt", little boy. Ask your mom to explain it to you.

  • skirt, dress, kilt whatever, you suck bags of cocks

  • @ninja6kid Sorry, man. I'm straight. You'll have to troll somewhere else if you're looking for a man-date.

  • that kilt make you look so dang skinny my friend lol you need to eat something your skills are amazing

  • how did u grind the bevel on the first knife? Did u use a jig or did you grind it freehand?

  • @atomicturkey27 I do all my grinding freehand. I've never really developed much of a comfort level using jigs.

  • why the fuck are you wearing womans clothing ?

  • @streetlegal15 When you get home from school today, ask your mom what a "kilt" is.

  • @Makermook yer i know it is i was joking you heard of joking ? but why are you wearing one anyways because your definately not scottish lol

  • @streetlegal15 Ah...I get it :) Sorry for snapping. I wear the kilt because it's comfortable, because I'm Scottish by heritage, and because it's "different". And because when I got out on the town wearing it, invariably some drunk chick will try to put her hand up the kilt to see what I'm wearing underneath!

  • @Makermook no worrys buddy sorrys if i offended you and yer i always like to be different to so your not alone there lol :P

  • i like the kilt im irsh and scottish. If i had one id wear it all the time. So what other knives do you sell and what are the prices? if you want you can just email me you have my address

  • r u wearing a kilt?

  • @nightwalker2830 Yeah :) I don't wear it all the time, only when the weather is a little cooler. It's made of real heavy denim, like a Carhart jacket, so it's actually cooler to wear jeans in really hot weather than it is to wear the kilt.

  • when you start a grinder u should stand to the side

  • Hi Makermook, I use a bench grinder all the time to make Scandi grinds. First, strip off the guards. I know this is getting dangerous, but, how safe can a powertool get anyway? Grind the blank at the top of the stone. The trick to getting a Scandi instead of convex is to turn the blank 90 degress and move the blank back and forth (as opposed to holding it as you do and moving it left and right). I have an improvised guide with stong clamps and I can achieve rather good results.

  • @ratbertovich that should be "strong clamps", not "stong clamps".

  • @ratbertovich That's a great idea. I'll give it a try one of these days.

  • Is it easy to change a knife to a single bevel. I have a Buck knife and I find that it is hard to sharpen. I find a single bevel easier to get the right angle. I do not want to chew up my knife trying to put it on a circular sander.

  • @mtnsnow11 I was trying out a new technique for establishing the bevel on the knives I make. I've been using a sanding belt and wanted to try the bench grinder. For me, the belt sander still works best.

  • Hmm,.. Fathers day is coming and your tactical kilt gives me a good idea. :)

  • I find no wrong...Great job as always Mook!

  • Good stuff Mook, enjoyed that, takes courage to admit your failings like that.

  • It's a Utilikilt. This one is built like a Carhart jacket -- basically bombproof.

  • is that a tactakilt?

  • nice of you to post your wins and losses!
