  • It's only a live vocal over a studio track. Great vocal though!

  • "Most Under-Rated Song of the '60s"?

  • EjZakic thank you for this vid. hey! did anyone notice that mick and pete aren't shown so oftten? i meant it for all videos ;)

  • as usual, just love Ray's facial expressions--so genuine, so reflective. Dave, adorable as always....

  • Thank you, thank you!!!

    This is an incredible spot.

It is live but the Kinks are so loyal to their own music that you can barely tell, but Rays' Dave's voices make it sound different from the original recording

    This song is so underrated!!

  • Ray's slide sound on the guitar is owesome

  • I love the way Ray mimics the sound of the sitar. And of course, Dave's harmony on top can't be beat.

  • Hmm, Dave's vocals seem to be the only "live" part to this version. Even Ray's vocals seems to be the original.

  • @lBStrokin Ray's vocal is live as well. Compare it to the original record - it definately sounds different :)

  • The instruments are being mimed but the vocals sound live.

  • This song was on the US album KinksKingdom in `65!

  • What is this music...??? Its gr8...

  • This clip is from the final episode of "Shindig"-Jan. '66.

  • This song is amazing. I don't believe I ever heard until a month ago. This video has really given me a firm feeling that Dave Davies is a force to be reckoned with! His voice is great on this.

  • This was released as a single in the UK but not here in the US. I hadn`t heard it either until 3 or 4 years ago when I bought a copy of it from a guy in the UK on Ebay. Good song, should have been a hit here...

  • Superbe!

  • temazo! de lo mejor de the kinks

  • The guitar is just so beautiful!

  • quality choon the way dave harmonizes with ray what a track

  • She is gone!!!!

  • its see my friend (singular)

  • The title of the song is "See My Friends", (plural)...

  • No, it is NOT singular.

Ray Davies said, "When I wrote the song, I had the sea near Bombay in mind. We stayed at a hotel by the sea, and the fishermen come up at five in the morning and they were all chanting."

There are several recordings of Ray Davies talking about the song and introducing it, and he clearly says "See My Friends".

  • I agree. Apparently the singular name only came about as the result of a spelling mistake when it was published. But it was too late to do anything about it once it had been copyrighted and pressed so they were stuck with it. Officially its actually meant to be the plural.

  • Would it really make sense if it were "See my Friend"?

  • luv it !!

  • I've known this song for over 40 years, and it's a great song. However, it is obvious that the music is playback, whereas Ray and Dave do sing live!

  • thanks for posting

  • I just love how Ray sings in this performance. Sounds much more cunning and sly than the recorded version. Brilliant! And a live video too!
