Samantha stepped out of the comfort zone of what was being filtered to her by media & government about the rest of the world to find out for herself ie: Reagan's "Evil Empire comment about the Soviet Union. We hear echos from Bush's "Axis of Evil" comments. This gives children nightmares. To hell with war mongers who push & prod other countries to war. Shame on ignorant people who believe these rants of aggression from their leaders. Shame on them in the light of a brave girl named Samantha.

Yes, unfortunately the events connected with Samantha, left in the past. Even in Russia about Samantha remembers the small number of people. And in the U.S. probably does not remember virtually none. If you stand in the middle of main street in San Francisco and will be asking people passing by you on 'Who is Samantha Smith?', Then I give my hat, that no one will answer correctly.
