  • Burgerman you're my hero!!

  • My fave pedal!!! :-)

  • What is that riff between 1:20-1:26!?!? It's awesome!

  • @RiffCito are you kidding? it's the chorus part from Bark At The Moon lol

  • I have been playing on this pedal for about a year now. It does seem to be different (better) with an 18V power supply, but I can't explain why. It just does. Mind you, at 9V-usually what most players have available- it works great. This pedal has a tube feel like no -other non-tube pedal I have ever played with. This is one of those things that they should just keep making year after year. It is perfect as-is. If you don't own one, get one, seriously.

  • It has got the tube sound characteristic but lacks the certain sweetness that real tube pedal have got.

  • Really enjoying your vids. They are very informative. I'm curious about which clean tone was being used on your Laney V50 for this video. Was it the clean channel itself, or the overdrive channel with the gain turned way down? Each channel is pretty different, filtering wise, and I was wondering which channel the Tube Zone was going through ...which channel do you mainly use with your pedals?

  • hi burgerman!

would you recommend this in tandem with a stratocaster?

  • I have one, and a lot of boutiques including OCDs, this is my go to box. If u can´t take a great sound out of it u better give up, super flexible!

  • It sound like solid state. buzzy....

  • does this pedal have a real tube ? sorry for bad english

  • @nikitofin Your English is fine. Probably better than mine! No, no tube in this pedal. :)

  • Mr. Burgerman sir,

Love this pedal. Own it. Don't use it. To me, this is sad :( Would you be able to suggest a pedal that's like a beefier version of the MI Audio Blues Pro? I own that too and LOVE it. As in, I NEVER turn it off. Oh, and I own the Blue Boy Deluxe and don't use it much either. I think it has something to do with all the extra controls...

    Love from jamiedavie.

  • Damn, nice tone!

I have one question, can it work in amp fx loop return?

    Thankss Burggg

  • @nasyasatch Nah, I wouldn't be putting it before the power amp. It needs to see an amp's input and pre amp first, for best results. :)

  • @Burgerman666 Thanks for reply ! All clear :D

  • How can you tell that it can take from 9v to 25v? What would have happened if powered with more than 25 volts? Would it burn or something?

  • Hey great demo! Ive heard some people say this thing can do some good Mesa Mark IIC+ tone and I was wondering if you would suggest this or something else for close to Mark II tone, also would this thing be closer to mesa tone with the 18v or 9v? Thanks

  • @cowcrusher Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately I've not had any experience with the MKIIC so I can't offer any advice.

    Anyone else?

  • Cool pedal. It seems to be able to do Marshall, Mesa, Vox... you name it, by the twist of a few knobs. All the way from jazz to deathmetal in a matter of moments, really.

  • Hi there Burg,

This may be a very stupid question, but what does running a pedal at higher voltages do? Specifically for this pedal, but also for others if you don't mind.

    Cheers!

  • @Botdra Not a stupid question at all. If the pedal is built for it, the extra voltage will usually give you extra dynamics (or less compression), more headroom and generally more volume. This beast can take up to 24V but even 18V is a big improvement (to me). Be warned though; not all pedals can take more than 9V. Always best to check with manufacturer. Cheers, BK.

  • @Burgerman666 Awesome, thank you so much! Did you take a look at the 9v compared to the 18v with this pedal? What did you think?

  • Superb demo Burgerman, thanks for this, you're demos are always classy!!! :-) Bought this pedal a week ago, it's fantastic! / Cheers from Sweden

  • @JonasSweden1 Thanks for the kind words, sir! Very glad to help. More soon. ;)

  • can i also use 18 volts on my marshal shredmaster?

  • I didn't care for this pedal as much at 9v. The 18v seems to give it a bit more depth

and a little more warmth. Much like what the Svetlana's have done for the Laney...

    Thanks for sharing.

  • I like this pedal much better at 18v. It seems to warm it up & add a bit more depth to it much like those Svetlana's seem do for the Laney. Nice demo!

  • I don't think i've ever heard an overdrive pedal that kicks so much ass.

  • @lute760 Indeed. It's one of the greatest but criminally unsung dirt boxes ever.

  • I emailed the maker and asked if there was much difference between running this pedal (which I own) on 16 as apposed to 25v. Because I wanted to use a BBE supa charger to power my pedals and it has two ports that can run up to 16v. He said there wasnt a huge difference. Great pedal, It just kicks your ass!

  • hey just wondering what type of type of 18volt adapter are you running? i bought mine an 18volt adapter from a electrical shop n im gettin this damn odd noise.

  • @angrytroll27 Just a generic 9V to 18V I picked up locally. Does the trick. I can't help you with the noise issue, sorry. It could be a number of things. Best to use a regulated and isolated PS if you can find one, though.

  • @angrytroll27 You are getting noise from the power adapter because it is unregulated. Most power adapters that you buy off the shelf are unregulated. Make sure you find on that is specifically described as REGULATED...

  • @kdr26554 killer thanks mate this the first ive used 18v. im gonna one of those gator power supplys in the next week. thanx again mate.plus i only bought the power supply from a generic electrical shop.

  • Sounds like you're playing through a wah. Weird pedal.

  • hi, wat are the differences between 9v and 18 volt???

    Great video and pedal.

  • @FabioBlood Thanks for the kind words. 18V will give you more volume, headroom and dynamics. Once you visit 18V, it's hard to go back. :)

  • @Burgerman666 ahahahahah!! :-) but all type of 9v (expecially distortion pedals) pedal can beused with 18 volts with damage?? and with increase voltage, decrease distortion???

  • @FabioBlood @FabioBlood No! Not all of the circuits can take extra Voltage. Be VERY sure about the manufacturer's (all of them) specifications before you try this. In fact, if it doesn't specifically say it on the pedal's DC input (or next to it) you are probably risking the pedal and its warranty if you use more than 9V.

    OK? Careful. Be it.

  • @Burgerman666 oook! thank you very much burger!! But I haven't problem because I built handmade pedals for me and people :-) (I'm on facebook, with name fabio d'errico and in photo album with name VINTAGE GUITAR EFFECTS there are my creations! See its!! :-) excuse my english but I'm Italian!! :-) Hi burger and thanks! Rock on!!! :-)

  • wampler wreck vs. miaudio tubezone, how did u choose? thx

  • @xiaorongTW Well, I have both and both are different. But if I'm choosing for instant results and minimal tweaking, then the Triple Wreck would be my choice.

  • To me this seems to have great dynamics and crunchy tube tone. But it still lacks character. Maybe altering the internal presence knob would fix that

  • The best demo ever fot this versatile pedal

  • Btw, what's your internal presence knob switched to?

  • Flat. I haven't altered it at all.

  • Hi!

can it do what the crunchbox can?

  • Yeah. It will take a bit of coaxing and tweaking, but it's all there. :)

  • Love it!

  • Great demo and nice quality audio!

  • Nice!

  • good demo!

  • Hi, i have this baby but in 9 v.Can i plug it in 18 v?It will change the sound?

    Thanx, my master

  • My master? Ha! Yes, running the TZ at 18V will give you more volume and headroom - a definite improvement IMO. Go for it. :)

  • Hey, so if I have a power supply that is 18V, I just plug it in?

What are the polarity for it (or the center negative, etc)?

  • Your sound will sound like ...my sound! Heheh. Bigger, bolder, more headroom. Standard tip power supply, just like the Boss only more Voltage. I think you can pump up to 24V into these things, but check with the MI-Audio site first.

  • from the site

" 9V Battery or DC power supply with up to 25V headroom."

  • Is this TUBE ZONE modified?

  • Nope. Stock standard. It will sound different depending on what you feed it to and with though.

  • Oh, Really?!

I have the same it, too.

But Your TUBE ZONE feels different in a color of LED.

    My TUBE ZONE is blue.

  • Brett, I was just about to pull the trigger on a crunch box but you have persuaded me to get another Tube Zone! I think I like the variety of sounds you can dial in with the TZ whereas the CB looks fairly limited Marshally territory. Thanks for the great demo's and keep up the good work!

  • They're very different beasts so decide carefully. While the Crunch Box is an unabashed hot-rodded Plexi box, the Tube Zone tips its hat more to the Rectifier stable - BIG bottom end. :) Both are lots of fun.

  • Hi Brett, thanks for the nice demo of this pedal!

Sounds really awesome, very high on my favorite lists thanks to you :)

Currently playing through a solid state marshall (avt), but dreaming of an all tube amp.

I think this tubezone would really complement the tone of a Peavey JSX head (it's built with pedals in mind).

Are those humbuckers on your redmond model 3, or single coils / coil tap?

Sounds very versatile :) Subscribed, you've made some nice demo's before

    SanderD

  • Thanks Sander; I'm glad you're enjoying my little indulgences! That Floyd has vintage spec HSS setup. Checkout the Floyd Rose website for detailed info. It's a Model 3 Redmond. They're very hard to come by these days as they were only made for 2 or three years. Grab one if you can, you won't be sorry. Cheers, BK.

  • I think that the Crunch Box has a better punch than the Tube Zone, but they're both fantastic!

  • I have a Mi Audio Crunch Box, but now i want this one...looks much more versatible.

  • Oh yeah. Lots more versatile. Although as a quick MIAB solution, the Crunch Box is pretty hard to beat.

  • Bugerman 666, please make more demos of Red Witch pedals. Thanks man.

  • I think Ben does a pretty good job on his own, doesn't he? Have you had a look at the new videos on the Red Witch site? They're not bad at all. :)

  • Red Witch pedals are awesome. I have a doubt...Red Witch Pentavocal Trem or Catalinbread Semaphore Tremolo. What are you think about this pedals ? What are the best ? I´m from Brazil, sorry about my english.

P.S: Make more videos with Sadie, she so sweet =)

  • That's a tough call because they're both excellent. But..I'm going to give the thumbs up to the newer, smaller sized Semaphore because it doesn't color your tone, has a great buffer (when turned on) and can run at 18V for more headroom. And it doesn't take up much room on the board. The Red Witch is great too though because it features a 'bottom' knob that you can use to wind in some real deep swampiness. Tough choice. More vids with Sadie soon. Thanks. :)
