  • I wonder how many take they needed to do this in?

  • This is a lovely tribute, an impeccably handled accurate copy of the original done live in front of an audience. How brave to take it on because it could just go SO wrong!

Nowadays we get so many poor copies of the greats, or worse, spoofs or re-writes that mock or don't understand and respect the original. You can only feel that this is a loving and genuine salute to 2 of the greatest-ever talents of British television.

  • me and my brother tried doing this in are kitchen we were doing well.....til mum got us

  • @hugamumfterwoof hahahaha what did your mum say when she saw you two doing it

  • @animelovers000

she literally said 'u missed a bit out,' so we re did it and mum just said..... 'well done'

  • Brilliant!

  • brill version of a classic sketch.. LOVED it!!

  • Armstrong and Miller are the closest to M&W you will get around these days... but never will be able to be as good as M&W

  • nothing like the original, personally hated this

  • it won't beat the the original but this routine is such a challenge to recreate as it needs to be timed perfectly with the music and Armstrong and Miller have done it wonderfully.

  • Not as good as the original, but they did a good job and it's always nice to see the comedians of today paying tribute to the comedians of yesterday.

  • They did a good job

  • identical yet equally funny, and you can tell that its been slightly altered in the mannerisms and in that way unique. its amazing that they could recreate the same set or preserve the old one

  • A fantastic tribute to two of our most loved comedians performing arguably the funniest of their sketches. Well done A & M, RIP M & W. Fantastic. Thank you.

  • Armstrong actually cut the grapefruit better than Eric did. :-)

  • I'm sure that Eric & Ernie would've LOVED this :) x

  • It's very good as a tribute and full credit to A and M, but M and W cannot be bettered. Both versions were pretty amazing. How did they throw eggs and not break them?

  • Beautiful (as a tribute)

  • Its amazing to know that Morecambe and Wise will never be forgotten :') I doubt Armstrong and Miller will be either :)

  • I always thought M+W used camra tricks to make that sketch

  • @EccentricGentelman I don't think Eric & Ernie used camera tricks, but I think they did pre-record the sketch and only showed the audience the completed article. Armstrong and Miller obviously rehearsed this piece to kingdom come, but they did it completely live in front of an audience - which is a case to say that this is arguably better than the original. Blasphemy, I know - but not impossible.

  • Easy to criticise, but as far as I can tell, A & M was performed live (apart from one or two small cutaway shots, such as the pancakes landing in the pan) whereas the M&W version was recorded - so they had as many takes as necessary. Don't be fooled by audience laughter... the studio audience is shown the recording, and their laughter is then recorded and dubbed onto the original for transmission... what looks like "live" often isn't!

  • It was a good recreation but the camerawork didn't do it any justice wihatsoever.

  • what song did they do that too?!

  • @chibinekogirl101 It's mentioned at the begining.. The Stripper

  • Wonderful tribute to a great double act!

  • was a great tribute :D

  • It's nice that they are reinacting such a wonderful sketch but where is the passion? They make it look like its effort ... Eric and Ernie took breakfast to a whole new level!

  • Eric and Ernie would so proud i think if they saw that now! It shows how much of an impact they had on the nation. much love to M&W

  • A great tribute to the greatest ever double act

  • nice and do you no what the music is?

    can you tell me?

  • @ZeChamps97 The music is The Stripper by David Rose

  • They did as good job as the original, they could never outdo then original version...

Think A&M are as close as you'd get today to M&W

  • COMPLETE & UTEER FAILED

  • Not a bad recreation, but the Morcambe and Wise original will always remain the best, not that Armstrong & Miller are trying to outdo them anyway. Have to say though the har graft of Ernie stirring the eggs was not apparent in this remake, as when he did it he looked like he was going to pass out lol.

  • It always amazes me how Armstrong cuts the oranges

  • Well to do it live with that much accuracy is astounding.

  • that was so acurate to the original it's scary

  • A great tribute :)

  • that is as good an imitation of the breakfast sketch as you'll ever get

  • Not as good as the true masters. I know this was done in honor however the love of the sketch is not there. Is it me or the effort does not seem to be there?

  • @ajhomryder i know what you're talking about but i think they were just worrying about getting the timings right 'cos of it being live and all

  • @brandnewyork48 Just watched the special to Eric and Ernie on the bbc. His wife said they were so worried about timing then, Ernie wise was upset because he starting beating the eggs to early.

  • @ajhomryder i watched that too! did you see the drama they did over the new year with victoria wood playing morecombe's mother? i feel the two actors did a very good impression of the duo.

  • @brandnewyork48 tha drama was absolutely fantastic wasnt it!!! the actor playing eric was incredible, he mustv watched every episode and copied him exactly. brilliant drama and comedy

  • @salter50 i know, the glasses nod and everything lol!

  • Wish my toaster did that!

  • @dfarmbrough Mine does unfortunately...the toast almost went in the sink once lol

  • not a bad re-creation but there will only ever be one M+W

  • Woodenly acted, no charater, it looks like they hate doing it.

    I need a drink.....

  • what is the music to this?

  • @Bluxico The stripper by David Rose.

  • seemed sleepy

  • Why can't all breakfasts be like this?

  • Very VERY good tribute! Where did you find this?

  • Well rehearsed, those lads. Well done.

  • Absolutely fantastic.

Not as good as Morcambe & Wise's, but being better than them is an impossible task.

  • how do they do the omelette/pancake thing?

  • The classic Breakfast sketch redone, how wonderful! You can learn many thing's about comic timing in this!

  • Brilliant! Not as good as the original of course. How could it be -- wouldn't be much of a tribute if it was.

The great thing about the M&W version is that they really do look and act like they just got out of bed. A&M ham it up more -- but then they're live on stage so you can forgive them.

  • I think this sketch is actually funnier than the original

  • they think they're Morcambe and Wise!!!!

just joking, love the sketch, if possible even better than the original

  • This was good ,Take your hats to these guys for timing, the original breakfast sketch was better.

  • I don't think the audience realised the sketch was about thirty years old.

  • What a good recreation of a classic routine.

  • I love these two! They are both such intelligent men (Ben Miller has a PhD I believe) and it really shows in their comedy!

  • Comment removed

  • These two are pure genius. My favorites are the RAF sketches. I have never laughed so hard. It's weird seeing Miller act so silly since he's so serious (with great one liners) in Primeval

  • i totally agree, the first time i've saw him was in primeval, and i start to love him from the first moment^^ and so i looked for more of him and found johnny english, that was strange xD and now armstrong and miller, where hes making fun and sings and so on ;)

  • @mmgringoire2 Indeed in the RAF ones are zany! My favourite one being when they discuss if they'd do Vera Lynn! What's your fave RAF sketch?

  • @leela145 Probably the sketch when Armstrong is in the hosptal and his legs have been blown off, or the one where they have been captured by the germans.

  • @mmgringoire2 Good choices mmgringoire!

  • Not as good as the original, of course, but amazing nonetheless!

  • @michaelritchie200 yh i agree lol

  • @michaelritchie200 better

  • @michaelritchie200 No recreation will be as good as the original. This was fantastic.

  • how very nice, those two performing the breakfast sketch

    very good

  • Not bad. The toast popped right on cue on this vid :)

That would be fun to do a routine like this, or the "Boom-Oo-Yata-ta-ta." The fact I was able to take part of such good comedic bits would be awesome!

  • Sorry but....where's the 'old man river gag'..must admit i HATE this routine, its shows none of morecamble & Wise character play, witty banter, but they wheel this lame fluff out, whatabout the greg piano concerto routine or boo ooh yatta yatta, much better.this is why i whole generation DON't GET Morecambe & wise,I love Morecambe & wise, there 60's show,70's show, even their lesser ITV series & movies but the Stripper leaves me cold. Soory

  • ScareMeSexy71 - The "old man river gag" is done at 1m15s.

  • yep,sorry just spotted it

  • Hahahaha that is such a good recreation!! XD

You just made my morning better hun :)

  • Aw, bless you! Glad you liked it! They did such an awesome job didn't they? :D & I love how they made it their own, they didn't try to "be" them, they did it, but in their own way...just fab :D <3

    Eric & Ernie would be proud I think :D x x x
