  • WE did It MR. Ruffin on the new season of UNSUNG!!!!

  • Effortless with his greatness. Maybe the greatest?

  • I'm sorry Jay Z, but David Ruffin invented SWAGG!

  • David Ruffin was the Temptation! Despite his faults.

  • @MaBreeze100

You may be ten years old buddy, but your way ahead of many young folks listening and appreciating artist like Dave Ruffin and the many others of his league back in the day.

  • that was grand

  • I would have a album out with songs with otis redding, david ruffin, marvin gaye,al green, amy whinehouse, tevin cambell, stevie wonder, donnie hattway in a collab album with them doing songs together oh shit ..and sam cooke

  • Ofcourse, everyone got it right. One of the greatest.

Boy, check out the notes arrangement of this song.

  • Legend.

  • One of the greats!

  • @isue411 You are so right, he had the best Voice af all the male Voices at Motown, and thats saying a lot, with Levi, Smokey, Marvin, Stevie, But David Didnt appreciate his gift, he took it for granted,,and we all know whatt happened, Im From Philly , i heard it on the news , That night in 1990, I think it was..... His dead body was dropped off in front of the Univ. Of Penna Hospital, and just such a horrible waste of a life.....I was devasted..

  • @isue411 All I saw was a fantastic performance by a fantastic performer. David had his personal problems but when he got on stage it was magic. I really didn't notice anything......actually I thought it was for emotional effect. He always seemed to connect deeply with his songs. Anyway this year marks 20 years since his passing. Let us alway remember the great musical legacy he left behind and forgive his human frailty. Peace.

  • @marcie0303 I AGREE,THE MAN BEEN DEAD TWENTY YEARS,PLS LET HIM REST IN PEACE,HES ALREADY MET WITH GOD HIS CREATOR,ONLY GOD COULD HAVE JUDGE THIS MAN,MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN YOUR RIGHT PLACE WHEN HE COMES FOR YOU HES NOT GONNA ASK YOU ABOUT RUFF, ITS GONNA BE YOU AND HIM,WILL ANYBODY BE ABLE TO FIND YOU ON YOU TUBE AND ENJOY YOUR MUSIC,ENJOY THE MUSIC KEEP YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS TO YOUR PERFECT SELVES

  • NAME IT AFTER MEEEEEEE!!!(THAT POSE...LOL) GENTLEMAN RUFFIN

  • One of the greats what a voice,a tragedy of a pure genius,

  • 1:25 it's interesting he puts his hands on his cheeks, just like a photo of Tammi Terrell.

  • NATURAL ENTERTAINER,REGARDLESS OF THE DRUGS,IF HE CAME ON STAGE,HE CAME CORRECT,YOU COULDNT TELL BY HIS STAGE ACTIONS HE HAD A PROMBLEM,REST IN MY PEACE MY BROTHER.

  • kush and oj nikkhuh

  • to the family of david ruffin i feel your lost for david was one of mine favorites but to me this song repersents all of the essence of his soulhe love you

  • this shit is sooo deep

  • The Man was a natural talent!! Only if his ego & drugs hadn't gotten in his way!

  • The Original Temptations David Ruffin, Melvin Franklin , Paul Williams , Otis Williams and last but not least Eddie Kendrick's were by far hands down the greatest R&B act of all time. Steps, style and they all could sing that's what was really amazing! Like it will NEVER be another Michael Jackson I think it would be safe to say there we will NEVER see another group like The Original Temptations! Timeless classics...

  • THIS IS ME AN MY GRANDFATHER FAVORITE SONG.. MY GRANDFATHER PASSED AWAY TODAY ON 8.2.11 I MISS HIM SO MUCH

  • @LaDiiCocktail so sorry for your lost.

  • @TheTrigger900 thanx

  • Real music right here....no profanity just real words and a man not afraid to admit he is wrong. Today we try to buy a lady but back then your character is what got you a lady. It takes a real man to apologize for his wrongs, this real music my friends....

  • Statue of a fool should be put on your tombstone George..

  • greatest ever... hands down...

  • ICON LEGEND R.I.P DAVID

  • concealed inside was a broken heart,i can relate

  • What a great voice. R.I.P. david Love you!!!!!!

  • A great song David wrote in 1958 (despite reports to the contrary)! From the"excellent Dancing In The Street"DVD, containing the last performance of Mary Wells, Martha Reeves, David Ruffin & Eddie Kendricks together on the stage in concert (L.A. 1987). You owe it to yourself to see the whole DVD, as they do a much better performance than they did with Hall & Oates! It is a must for your collection!

  • @LIsMRMOTOWN I heard lots of rumors that he preformed this back in the 50's and 60's and that Rick guy stole the song, i also heard David never had copied wrote the song which allowed that Rick guy to steal this song

  • Gosh David will always be my favorite Temptation. Eddie said that as David posed as a statue whenever he sang this song, he would be cracking up backstage. RIP ♥

  • ....I LOVE THE PART WHERE HE STANDS LIKE A STATUE IN (2:22). ALOT OF PEOPLE USE THE PHRASE, "YOU WERE BEFORE YOUR TIME", THIS DUDE WAS BEFORE HIS TIME.........YALL AINT NUFFIN WITHOUT DAVID RUFFIN !!! (lol)

  • God Bless Mr. David Ruffin...

  • R.I.P DAVID RUFFIN...

  • gingerdead man 3 is gonna be bad ass

  • I have never seen (or heard) a bad performance by Mr. David Ruffin. I'm so glad that one day in Whyanot, Mississippi, David said "Why not?" and left and wound up in Detroit. Motown is the best!

  • Imagine this June 1 will be 20 years since David left us. David was talent - pure and simple and this clip personifies this. Despite the challenges he may have had in his personal life, he was (and is) still able to bring us joy through his music. Thank you David and I hope your spirit has found peace and is at rest. God bless you.

  • I like Jack Greens's over this one. David rushes through it.

  • crackhead lips (no joke, look)

  • how old was he in this?????

  • @Eclipse3581 44 or 45

  • I think they were the voices, all three very good in their own way and making magic together, a pity Paul didn't have more leads, but I think all 3 were good in different ways, my fav remains David though

  • can anyone say who was better david or eddie and even paul had a powerful voice

  • omg this man's voice makes me cry, it's too sweet, I wish he was still here... David Ruffin gone but will never be forgotten

  • R.I.P David you was fuckin great !!!

  • Its Too Bad He Couldnt Shake That Monkey Off His Back Theres No Words That Could Explain The Mans Talent. Singer And Songwriter. R.I.P. David

  • This is the first time I heard this song. It's beautiful and so is the video. I have three soul singers, that tops all other singers for me. They are David Ruffin, Bobby Womack and Sam Cooke. True masters of their craft. I always feel them.

    r

  • Isn't it sad that so many times talent is overtaken by circumstances or substances ?

  • thank God for David Ruffin and this song..

  • LEGEND!!!

  • I feel this shit....

  • Though his generation of music far exceeds mine with its message and soulful tones I still feel somewhat as if this music was made for me. Friends used to question why I would listen to oldies as much as I did but what can you say, one listen to songs like "Just Let Me Hold You," "If I Should Die Tonight," " Cross My Heart," etc and you'll understand why. The music spoke to me and gave insight on the right ways to treat and address girls. I must say that aspect of R&B has dwindled

  • This is almost like Kanye's runaway.

    they realized they fucked up.

  • To Utterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...... Every tear you shed. Ha!

  • That damn flute... fits so perfectly.

  • He's singing this song straight from the heart, and I believe

that he's talking about "himself". This is a great song, sung

by David with the great "Voice"!!!!

  • He made the song cry!!

  • love dis song.......

  • DIANA,THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS,SO REAL,STOP TALKING BAD ABOUT A DEAD MAN,GET YOUR OWNSELVES TOGETHER,WHAT ARE THEY GONNA SAY ABOUT YOU AFTER YOUR GONE,RIP DAVID RUFFIN,THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD YOU DID DO

  • there is no one who duplicate this guy,he`s got heart and soul to max.

  • Man they replicated this look so good in the Temptations movie. Leon was so spot on in his portrayal.

  • @eexot Agreed. Me and my mom think all men that portrayed The Temptations in the movie should have won Oscars. They did a really great job. Tempations....FOREVER. :)

  • @eexot yeah no kidding i mean i was shocked at how eerie the resemblance was when i saw the pic before viewing the video

  • @mryoungro2 im not judging him i love him just sad to see how he wasted his life with DRUGS

  • ballisticafr, I agree with you, David sang from his innermost being , he sang from his soul, David had some issues, but on stage he was mesmerizing, incomparable, unsurpassed, poetry in motion and, the man could sing the newspaper if he wanted his voice was an instrument, and he shared that gift with us , one of the greatest entertainers bar none.

  • There are only two unique and exceptional voices in the history of singing and music without a doubt...Sam Cooke and David Ruffin!! These two voices sat the bar. They can never be duplicated. Many of the other voices in showbiz and vocal performance sounds basically the same, and are easily imitated, but David and Sam, wow! two exceptional unique voices!!! Only one regret for both...GONE TOO SOON!! RIP SAM AND DAVID!!

  • An absolute master at work. I miss him terribly. I love this live version, the recorded version does not come close.

  • his shades are dope

  • That was awesome. I love the pose

  • name it after me!!!!

  • He did do a wonderful job. The sad thing is that he tried to pass it off that he wrote this song. Everyone knew that he didn't but just let him pretend!

  • this is my song right now, cryn like a baby

  • The back up singers be getting down @ 1:19 lol

  • reminded of beres hammond

  • Just another all time classic......I've been there. I didn't understand it until it was me looking at a Statue of Me.

  • David Ruffin's voice carried me thru some serious broken hearts in the 60s

Mr. Ruffin they should build a statue and it's plaque should read...

One of the world's greatest entertainers

    Thanks for the music

  • can you send me this video

  • Those are some serious glasses.

  • Ilove this song

  • Sampled in Juicy J's "Name It After Me", from his Album "Chronicles of The Juice Man", Ha.

  • David should've wore smaller glasses. They keep fallen off his face. I guess he liked the bifocals.

  • David Ruffin had a phenomonal voice. I never knew he had a son that had that same great talent. I miss his voice, his stage prescence, all of the Temps that have passed on!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank You

  • His words where so true. Why cant anyone see ?

  • I love this man!

  • ballisticafr I feel you. I don't believe the temptations would have as much success without David. When I heard his voice the first time I looked for everything he I could get my hands on by him. It was later that I learned all my favorite songs by the temps was with him singing lead. With exception of Eddie. Dennis is Good. Eddie is and was GREAT!!!!!!!

  • One of the greatest singers of all times, its a shame drugs took him over RIP Ruff dog

  • Crack didn't kill David, he was murdered...

  • No 1 like Him R.I.P D.Ruffin

  • wow He was still able to hit those high notes. Impressive considering his age and what he was doing to his body.

  • one of the best to ever do it

  • the ruff is king. uk nottm

  • Raw emotion. When you talk Temps, it's David, Eddie, Paul, Blue, and Otis. The other ones after were OK but they were not "Temps". No other lead singer bought in after Ruffin could strike the chord of emotion that Ruffin did.

  • So glad to see this , but miss him . So very sad to see hem this way very sad :(

  • wow!!!!!!!!!
