As an original gulf war vet I have all the respect in the world for any branch of the service, especially the Marines. However, there were no WMD's in Iraq. Making Iraq the largest crime scene in our military history. We attacked another country without just cause sacrificing young men and women. Now Afghanistan is the longest declared military conflict in the 235 year history of America. So I respectfully ask....what in the name of God are we really doing and is it honorable anymore?

The war was fought because Saddam Hussein had a history of developing and stockpiling weapons of mass destruction.
The US could not take the risk that he might have had some left over from the Iran-Iraq War when he did use them against Kurdish civilians. His regime supported Arab terrorism in the past.
It would have been foolish not to consider a strategic partnership between Saddam and Al-Qaeda developing.
Iraq is on the path to freedom and democracy.

That would not have been possible without the 2003 invasion.

I watched friends die and become injured. I think about it all the time, but it is worth it when you free a nation. He has no moral. I'm being forced to deploy for a 3rd time within 4 years. You join the military to serve not serve your self! These guys are all confused deeply. The media is to blame telling us we shouldn't be there and it's the wrong war? I remember when they said it was the right war? if you approach me on the streets and asky why serve I'll give you a good answer but if you ask why fight in iraq? hell I serve so I do as Im told.

Our rights as citizens of america are limited. we do not have a true democracy. When the federalist changed the consitituion without public knowledge. where was our rights then? if it werent for our forefathers to instill the bill of rights giving us certain civil liberties we would have no rights!

One of the things that upset me are those that have never served this country and have no family members abroad calling active duty members with a conscious babies when they question our politicians. These people are usually professionals, religious, form an allegiance with a news organization, and believe in political party over country

Getting out does not mean cut and run, but that does send a message to those who oppose us that America is weak and that when the going gets tough, we back out. That is the truth; take it or leave it. Hating America seems to be a fad. If the seed of democracy grows from Iraq, I don't see any reason for anyone to hate us. Though, if it doesn't work, they will have a point.

Iraq is very centrally located in the country. It can either serve as a strong foothold for terrorism or a strong foothold for democracy. Though, we are on our way out now. So, it will be interesting to see what happens after this.
