  • its kinda cachy boom chika band a

  • I prefer Whirlpool... or Maytag!

  • Please do not buy any GE those Made in Mexico made of Junk.. not good last long as short life.. Suck but my LG wash is good... they Made in Korea!!!!

  • Make sure you check the shipping bolts and level the washer. haha, jk man, Didn't anyone watch the video? The METAL is being pushed OUT on the side. You could level this POS all day without getting results...lol. Putting the bolts back in would probably do this machine a favor. That's all I have.

  • @leDouchey Best reply I've had in a long time lol :)

  • I'm happy that you're happy. But whatever you do, don't buy an LG Rumor cell phone. I had to replace THAT pos with an iPhone. So now I'm left to wonder, what if Apple made a washing machine?

  • @beardedwulverine I can't argue with that - my friend had a lot of issues with that same phone.

  • @beardedwulverine wow i like the sould of that !! it would be all white and have touch buttons ooh and have an i-pod in it !!!

  • Yeah. When the four pegs all sit flat on the floor it keeps the washer from rocking back and forth. I might know cause I have a GE front loader myself. ;)

  • @beardedwulverine The machine was perfectly flat and level. When it hops off the floor 2"+ during a spin cycle and can't detect that, something is wrong. I have since disconnected this POS and bought a real machine. My LG can spin anything I load and runs circles around this poor excuse for a washer.

  • Adjust your four 'foot pegs' so it doesn't wobble when your load is uneven. You probably think it's built wrong. Lol

  • @beardedwulverine So I'm to understand that you think adjusting the 'foot pegs' is going to solve this problem? LMAO thanks for the laugh. Try reading the comments next time. I'll add your comment to the others that keep mentioning to remove the shipping bolts.

  • Try anti-vibration pads which help absorb vibration. Check out Vibrafix pads. Those are sold for $9.99 (set of 4), which is the cheapest on the market. Let me know if that fixes the problem.

  • @najieliza You must own or work for the Vibrafix company because you leave the same comment in every related video. Anti-vibration pads will not help with this at all.

  • @adisharr I agree that the pads wll probably not fix the issue posted with the video above, however, it did fix the floor vibration issues that were caused by my washer. I have spent a lot of time researching on-line for a solution, so when I found the product that works and wasn't expensive, I wanted to share it everywhere else where front-loading washer issues were present. And I might consider selling this product, since it's about half the cost of other similar products out there. :)

  • GE has a kit that consists of rubber shock absorbers that fit on the legs. Works sometimes. Cleaning out the pump guard is also helpful but if you go to the ge you tube channel and watch their new video, the Shakertons, you see they do know the problem and they fixed on their new machines. Didn't do anything for their old customers. Seems to me admitting the problem, they should replace EVERY one of those butter churns.

  • alot of people dont read what you are suppose to do when you first buy a washer, but the washer jumps around like that when you dont remove the shipping screws

  • you might have already figured out the answer, but with our new set, we thought the set was going to fall apart, but there are 4 "shipping bolts" that had to be removed before operation. Once they were removed and we leveled the machine, the stacked set runs like a dream.

  • This often happens when the washer shocks have come off of the tub at the bottom. Sometimes the shocks come out when the washer is moved or from a overloading or highly unbalanced loads.

You should be able to see the shocks by removing the bottom panel of the washer, or by removing the back panel.

  • @appliancesrepairman Thanks for the tip but the shocks are in the correct position and are securely fastened to the machine.

  • hey i liked the beats the washer made

  • same prorblem but stop working period what should do

  • @MegaBobland If you know you still have power to the unit then I would call GE to schedule a service call if you're not experienced repaired this type of appliance.

  • @MegaBobland you should remove the shipping bolts in the back of the machine

  • I bought mine in 2009, long story short, they have replaced every part in the washer, still it shakes violently!!! Now the dryer has started turning on by itself *nice to come home to a running dryer with the new hydro rates!* The unit is stacked, so I blame the violent shaking of the washer to the dryer's new problems. I have had the pair for 1 year four months now- they are replacing the units. Contact me for more info,,,,they need to replace your units!!!

  • You have to remove the shipping bolts.

Refer to this video to see how to do this.

    ?v=VjaBG8TkseE

  • @ccgob1 Completely useless comment but thanks for playing.

  • @adisharr I had the same exact problem. Been frustrated with it for 2 years now. I was told to remove the shipping bolts (4 bolts set in the back of the machine to limit the movement of the tube while shipping). They are set in what look like four black rubber feet but on the back of the machine. I removed them and still had the same problem. Then I revisited the issue recently and took a pair of pliers and pulled out the black feet. So far so good. Hopefully the problem stays away.

  • @adisharr probably a bad bearing, warped inner basket, or a broken arm on the basket support. easiest way to tell is. spin it by hand pulling each fin on the drum back and fourth. if the whole outer tub and basket move together, your fine. but if its loose. theres your problem.

solution: replace this pos with a wp direct drive toploader.

  • @yourredcomrade717 I've long since replaced this with an LG front loader. Night and day difference.

There's nothing wrong mechanically with the GE, just a poorly thought out control design.

  • @takispap100 An unbalanced load on this machine is detected by looking at the RMS motor current as the load revolves. The more unbalanced a load is, the larger the deviation. When this deviation surpasses a programmed threshold, the machine determines that the load is unbalanced and then resets the spin cycle attempt. As you can imagine this system does not work well to detect lower speed unbalanced loads. GE does not believe there is a problem with the machine.

  • 1. Overloaded washer 2. Single item washed 3. May the load has been becomed tangled or twisted.

  • @takispap100 It is a heavy load - two large weaved blankets. They do occasionally become tangled. I don't have a problem with the machine being unbalanced. What I do have a problem with is that is can't detect that it's unbalanced.

My LG has absolutely no problems washing these items. It also becomes unbalanced quite frequently but has no problems detecting a faulty spin attempt and quickly trying again.

  • This problem is because is unbalanced

  • @takispap100 You are correct.

  • If you would lower the back fight leg I think it would stop shaking like that. And I'm 92.7 percent sure that model is made by Frigidaire and is a low end starting frontload model. You can't compare this yugo style washer to the lexus type LG or Kenmore set. You get what you pay for

  • @trogers19951995 Low end model or not, I require that a washer not self-destruct. This is just an example of an engineering failure. All it needs is a better out-of-balance detection system and the problem would be solved. The LG I also have has a much more advanced anti-vibration system but most of the features do not even come into play due to the load weight. It's better sensing system, however, works wonderfully - even if it does have to try 10+ times to balance the worst loads..

  • Shipping bolts removed?

  • @chillymn1 Yes - that gets asked about every 10 comments.

  • Did you get a new control board and did it fix your problem?

  • OMG - this is EXACTLY what our washer does. UGH!

  • That is a pretty awesome beat.

  • According to GE they said that we need to wash same type of loads together.

Example...towels with towels only....Do not cross mix such as towels with lighter items. Try that.

  • @efd49931 I've only ever washed clothes in the unit that way. We never mix types. GE just continues to make excuses, meanwhile my L:G has not had one issue washing all the same types of clothes. The GE is just an inferior machine with numerous issues.

  • The carol burnett show found a use for this machine in the clip "no frills airline" @ 6:50.

  • hope you get this message for the fix. had the exact same problem with the exact same model when I found this video.worked fine when I first got it. after a year I got pissed and tore my machine completely apart and found a corroded penny in the pump. I believe what was happening is the penny was intermittenly jamming the pump and the excess weight of the undrained water caused it to be off balance when it started to spin out. The pump has two chambers. take off the bottom panel, remove pump.

  • Hmm i have the same machine and mine does the same thing. I hate this machine! also there is another recall for anther part as well. I looked up ge front load recalls and i had to put in my make and model and my machine was on the recall list. So they are sending someone out to replace the recall part. I may ask about the sensor as well.

  • I have the same problem and Sears will not warrant mine - they are making me take it off the pedistal saying that is the problem NOW but yours is not on a pedistal , i have a warranty they are avoiding to replace the machine nor did they put the motor on it they said was bad either because then the warraNTY WOULD BE THE 4 TIMES OF SAME PROBLEM AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT -SO ME WITH A DISABILITY ARE MAKING ME MOVE IT

  • I have video taped my washer again and Sears said now to me about it - they refused to put a motor on it this last visit because then the warranty would be in effect and they would need to replace the washer so now they said to me remove my pedistal as you can see the other guy on here did not have it on a pedistal and it still did the same thing mine is doing- i have a disability and it is going to be hard to move the pedistal - they did not even put the motor on - Sears does not warrant

  • I too have the same problem and sears has rebuilt it pretty much except the motor ,electrical or circuit board-- and i have a major warranty on it and thery say it is not the washer it is what it sits on that is doing it-- but yours is not on a pedistal and it is on concrete and doing it , i bought the pedistal later to try and fix the problem of knocking and not wanting to spin correctly and washes forever because of the knocking and resetting of itself, they will not make good on warranty

  • it has some great rhythm, had me tapping my feet then lol:)

  • Death to a lousy washer. After coping with repairmen who didn't have a clue as to how to get our washer to operate the way it should, we gave up. My dad and I loaded the "monster" into the back of our pickup truck and took it for a ride in the desert. Then we used it for target practice. Afterwards we went shopping for a Maytag top loader. That baby works great.

  • I have a GE Profile, nine months old and has been repaired FIVE TIMES. Waiting for GE to authorize a new machine......

I have an LG at my cabin, seems to work well, but had a leak that was fixed immediately.

  • I have a GE Profile, nine months old and has been repaired FIVE TIMES. Waiting for GE to authorize a new machine......

  • Maybe need toss barney in smooth out..

  • I wish I'd never bought the GE. I had no idea it would be so difficult for it to complete a cycle without addiing minutes repeatedly on every load. Maybe the tub is too big, so the load can't balance. Or maybe it is just made too touchy. I'm getting really sick of the thing. For two-cents I'd pitch it onto the Interstate in front of a semi.

  • That's why you buy lg.

  • Finally went and bought an LG machine - should be here on 4/24. I'll have to post a video comparing the two. Hopefully this new model will be everything the GE is not. We'll see how well the 'True Balance' system works.

  • @adisharr So how good does your new LG washer work?

  • @hillbillylily It seems to work very well so far - I haven't washed the heaviest load yet but as soon as I do I'll record it and post it. It's been crazy the past few days unfortunately. The balance system works MUCH better - it does go out of balance but the system does a great job detecting that and striving for the best balance. I haven't run a load that hasn't been able to get up to 1300 RPM (max spin) yet.

  • I am soooo happy to know I am not alone. I have been trying to tell these people this for two years....They are telling me it is my fault and I don't know how to wash clothes and so on.... Of course, I am thinking well maybe ??? So I try every conceivable way to arrange laundry in this machine and come out with the same results..I am so happy to find this video and comments and now the people who have tried to make me feel inadequate is about to see a whole new me......

  • FRONT LOAD BAD! TOPLOAD GOOD!!!!!!!!

  • sounds like the load is unbalanced.. its got a catchy beat you can dance to though... Mines causing structural damage to my house Hopefully if GE gets enough bad press on here they will improve the quality if their products or compensate us owners

  • I had an idea that might be worth trying. Since the fins are not adequate, something has to be done to keep the clothes from tangling. What about putting something into the tub with the clothes? I'm thinking a basketball, but of course that probably woudn't be a very good idea. Perhaps a child's rubber ball the size of a head of lettuce? At least it wouldn't make thunking noises in the tub.LOL

  • I just got a GE like this one and like the way it washes so well, but hate the way it keeps going unbalanced. The manual says to load it correctly, but does not go into detail. No matter how I load it, the thing goes unbalanced and then adds time to the cycle. So I stop it the instant it stops, and readjust the clothes. That way it doesn't add minutes. This machine has been on the market for years, but GE can't be bothered to remedy the problem.

  • It would seem that whoever wrote the code for this machine needs to be fired. I don't understand why they put in such a long delay before it tries to spin again when the washer knows it's out of balance. The washer also has a tendency to tie things up in knots due to the plain fin design in the tub. Another fantastic GE shortcut.

  • cool your washer has rhythm you can feel the beat and fill in with your hot guitar licks :) seriously i have the exact same washer and it goes out of balance like that if you put like one or two things in it. A full load doesn't have as many problems... cheers

  • @Firecat7409

Hehe hey thanks man - sometimes I feel like getting a glow stick and dancing around it like I'm at some laundry rave. Other times I feel like setting it on fire. I'm torn :-P

  • @adisharr I feel your pain - Got the same problem. I think I might make a drum video out of it! - Acoording to GE - it is "working by design"

  • i had the same issue....after they came out 10times to tell me it works fine and even replaced the drum and shoks on it. AS OF DEC 18 2009 GE GAVE ME MY MONEY BACK (I HAVE THE CHECK STUB TO PROVE IT) AND I BOUGHT AN LG!!!!

  • @bf3907

I may have to give your method A shot. I would really rather not have to have some GE 'technician' come out to give me a bunch of assorted excuses before they would refund my money. The washer absolutely has a major design flaw.

  • how long have you had your washer? i only had mine for about ten months.

  • We also have the same issue! So far only 5 techs have been out, any tricks to getting the money back?

  • GE Washer wants highspeed spin now (on 0:44) and it stops (on 0:50).

  • this man is correct! these washers dont have a move all over the basement sensor...lol

  • Well for 1, i tend to agree, 1 or more of the struts are bad especially if this happens every load. It may just be the fact some items are very heavy if soaked. All front loaders also require a filter to be cleaned often. usually behind a small access panel or the lower face panel in the front. usually easy to do. the washer wont spin out the water, be off ballance and stop mid cycle. Clean the filter before you pay big bucks for the repairman. (web search this for your model for more info.

  • looks like one of the drum suspension shock absorbers or springs are broken.

  • @madcheme

They're all fine as well. The problem is that the machine does not always sense that there is a very unbalanced load.

  • Hey, I have the same model.mine tryed to spin & stopped 1/2 thru then go to pause. U may have had it fixed by now, but if not..remove the panel in the front below the door. remove the 3 screws on the bottom of this panel and remove it. the filter is the plastic plug about 2" in diameter. Unscrew it and cash in all the coins you find!! also flush the line before you put the filter back. watch out for the wires and such if ya still have the machine plugged in or they will call ya sparky!

  • I have the same model- and i hate it.

It is correctly installed, and leveled.

It takes FOREVER to wash clothes. An hour and a half sometimes. If you are buying one- you would be better off buying something else.

  • GE engineers are a joke. Can't believe they allowed this into production. They all should be fired and give all thier wages back to GE. GE wasted thier money and tainted thier reputation. This machine needs to be recalled.

  • which model number maching is this? i'm looking at buying a new washer and was looking at a GE....

  • @desertbriez

Sorry for the delay - this is model WBVH5200J1WW.

I would recommend against any of the GE washers from what I've seen and heard.

  • I just paid cash for a brand new set of GEs, similar to your's but my washer is WCVH6800JWW, higher end model I guess. They won't be delivered for another week, and I hope to god I don't have this problem, otherwise they will be going directly back to Home Depot.

  • @lithium803 =- Yea good luck - I got the same model as you and it clunks like an ald car going down the road. - Is yours working fine

  • @lithium803 =- Yea good luck - I got the same model as you and it clunks like an ald car going down the road. - Is yours working fine

  • @TheDrumChannel We've had ours for a couple months now and the machine has never gone out of balance and is nearly silent when in operation. I couldn't be happier with it. The only complaint I have is that the fabric softener dispenser doesn't always rinse out completely.

  • Don't buy GE, I have 3 GE's thinking it was a good brand, but unfortunately they are junk. I have a GE Profile series refrigerator that has a problem with the ice maker, I have a washer that does the same thing as the guy in this video and I have a GE range and it does not unlock after self cleaning...I don't know how these products pass the test...I will NEVER, NEVER, EVER buy another GE appliance again. I hope this helps you make a decision what NOT to buy.

  • I have the exact same machine, in fact this one we have is a replacement of the same machine we had before, and ours does the exact same thing including the previous machine. We have had lots of technictions in, and lots of parts replaced, however, no one seems to know why its doing this. We are sick and tired of it, it just gets worse as time goes on. If anybody is considering on buying one of these GE Washer, don't buy it. Its a piece of junk.

  • go back and check that shipping bolts are removed - the bolt is comprised of not just the metal bolt, but a plastic and rubber outer piece as well, into which the metal bolt was installed - you will notice that when you remove the plastic/rubber bolt you can then cover the hole with the adjacent plastic cap

  • @wynnemun

They are most definitely out as I've mentioned before.

  • Umm....Does GE make good washing machines ? I've never seen one in Europa yet.

  • @czolgista999

From my experiences, absolutely not. Shoddy build quality and performance.

  • Did GE offer any resolve? They have sent 2 techs out. The 1st one told me to have them buy the machine back, not to have them replace it. GE will not buy a product back. The 2nd tech told me when the machine starts to walk across the floor I'm supposed to stop the machine redistribute the clothes then restart. The machine will not spin bath towels, period. I can't believe the GE engineering team would allow this product to be released. I paid 700$ for a washing machine I have to babysit.

  • @salmagunda

They could do nothing about it and offered no solution.

  • Mine does the same thing! We've done everything to try to fix it. We actually have just taken off the front panel and cleaned the inside filter. I doubt that will help but I'll let you know if it does.

  • Thanks but the shipping bolts have been removed since day one and it's level within 0.5 degrees.

  • I've seen quite a few older GE washers including the filter flo's that shook like hell including the very first washer I saw in action when I was one and a half.

  • It sounds like a GE filter flo i once had when it was off balance.

  • Well turn the dam thing off you might have it overloaded.

  • You've heard of a balance sensor right? Well thanks for the incredibly useful suggestion but the machine isn't supposed to self-destruct if someone overloads it. The correct response would be to power down or pause until the situation is corrected.

The main problem is that GE products are made to very low standards and use very inexpensive components to do the job.

  • Thanks for posting this! I am canceling my GE order & will now buy the Samsung WF448AAP. I'd get a migraine listening to that percussion every load! Thanks again! I hope GE gives you an upgrade! Send this video link to their marketing department and the CEO!

  • Did you remove the shipping bolts (4 of them in the back) that allow the suspension system to work?

  • Yes, the system moves freely but the out of balance system does not always register correctly.

  • EU Front Loaders Are much better.

America Should Stick with Top Loaders As They Cant Make Front Loaders.

It is the same with the EU With Top Loaders.

  • Has it always been doing this? I've been watching noticing a repeated comment from YouTube users about new washers doing this is due to something called "transport bolts" not being removed by the installer when first installed. These bolts are supposed to keep the drum in a certain position when transported, but have to be removed when the washer is installed.

  • Why don't you put your gay lover in there and see if it goes 'out of balance'.

  • First, he would never fit in there and second, that would just make things worse.

  • LOL! Nice to know you have a sense of humor.

  • Hey, I want to see the gay lover and the partner :)

  • I had this exact same problem! GE came out to fix it and the repair guy said it wasn't installed correctly (sound familiar). He charged my wife $30 for the visit and left. I will NEVER buy anything GE again!

I think they know they have a lemon and they are refusing to fix it.

I wish I had seen this video before buying my GE washer!

  • I've got a slightly different model than you do (I've got a "my cycle" button on the front which I didn't see on yours) and I haven't had this problem. When I have an out of balance load, the machine doesn't keep going. It starts to speed up, then slows down again and rebalances if need be. I would guess that your out of balance sensor is on the fritz.

  • makes a good drum beat!! all u need now is the music

  • lol

  • Great machines but a bit on the pricey side.

  • I was planning on buying this product but after seeing your video I am not so sure.

Do you know other people who have baught this product and have the same issues? If so get back to me.

    Thanks,

    Zyon26

  • are u kidding me? i will stay with my kenmore toploader! im sorry you have this problem.

  • Yeah it's not designed very well - I don't believe the Samsung units have this problem as they use some type of internal ball bearing balance system. GE seems to have just cheapened everything over the years.

  • That was interesing and informative. I'm getting a top-loader!

  • Nah...stick with the front loaders. Europeans have been using front loaders for decades now. First of all, they're more efficient energy-wise, uses less water, they can also fit more clothes, and finally they are gentler on clothes because there is no agitator. You should get a good brand and I'd go with European brands or Japanese ones. If you want to get a top loader, get an Asian model. They use a different technology. No agitator but have a disc in the bottom with paddles. Also gentler.

  • Kenmore Oasis, Whirlpool Cabrio, and Maytag Bravos in their HE form use the Asian disc technology in a bigger drum.

  • I have a washer like this also. I wash clothes nearly every day and this happens 98% of the time. GE sent a repairman out and he told me I was putting too much detergent in it. Everything else was okay. When he left I washed another load and again it bounced!! I HATE this washing machine. No one else has any problems with theirs. Any suggestions other than buying a top loader?

  • He thought it might be too much detergent? Clearly another GE brain surgeon. The out-of-balance sensors in this series really seem to be out of whack. Mine will start spinning perfectly fine and the machine will think it's out of balance and stop-start the cycle again. If it's severely out of balance, the machine seems to have a hard time recognizing that. They really need to design an auto-balancing system for these. This is ridiculous.

  • Did you remove the safety bolts out of the washer yet.good luck.

  • Yeah, I've removed the bottom cover and you can physically see the assembly banging into the sides.

  • Turns out there is nothing loose on the bottom end. I'm puzzled how the software of this machine was tested. It detects an 'imbalance' sometimes when it will clearly spin w/o a problem and other times it will beat itself up before it figures out something is wrong. Some stronger shock/springs and additional weight on the drum assembly would probably help quite a bit. The back end of the drum seems to move much farther than the front part no doubt due to the rubber gasket attachment up front.

  • You have a shock at the bottom of the machine that has popped off of the tub. It is an easy fix. Just take the bottom of the machine off in the front. I would say that it is the shock on the right hand side. You can just pop it back into place, then turn the top so it locks in place.

Your "sensor" did kick in when it tried to go into the high speed spin, that is why it stopped.

  • Thanks much, I'll take a look at that. I figured it would stop while it was banging during the slow speed spin - it decides to stop sometimes during a much more balanced spin.

  • You're welcome!

Let us know what you find out.

    BB

  • Possibly another problem solved on youtube!
