  • You're the best!

  • the influensa!

  • I LOVE GIRL FRON SWEDEN

  • Yes, håller med Kalimamma - Hans är FANTASTISK!!!! :-D

  • Sweden, country with the most atheist in the world today.

  • good historical video

  • hahahaha! Our country is ruled by a consvervative/neo-liberal alliance of right-wing parties which have, since the election of 2006, sincerely crippled Swedens welfare and social politics. But yes, before that the socialdemocratic party, backed up by the Trade Unions, has pushed Sweden into a great, but not perfect mind you, country to live in.

Free education and healthcare is communism? I would say no. But a way towards communism (ei. a class free society)?. I hope so!

  • Sweden have progressive taxes so that the upper class pays more than the avarage worker. In other words; a swedish worker gets more education, healthcare and so on for less money per individual than the avarage american joe.

Communism = class free society and have not exisisted in this world. State-capitalist dictatorships like Soviet Russia and North Korea never called themselves "communist" and you will not find me defending them.

  • @Hundpiraten

You are totally wrong. If you listen to ex economic advisors for the Sovjet economy they will say that the Sovjet planning economy was based on a Communist system aswell as the political system.

Sweden has achived it's high level of economic growth: First because it invested early in education: Second because it has been one of the most capitalistic ecnomies and one of the worlds most free economies.

So the state became rich and could invest more because the private sector grew

  • hehe, man.. the US are no THE WORLD ;)

  • these guys must be proud

  • When the immigrates and muslims will take control of Sweden, it will go something like 30 x 500. Europe rise again

    Go Hans go -u rock!

  • lol

asså svenskar kan inte prata engelska låter nästan lika dant men amerikanska WOW

  • ohh by the way you forgot to mention Mexico. North America contains more than just the U.S.A. and Canada...Dumb ass.

  • I believe the UN, as well as other sources, classify Mexico as Central America now.

  • Vi sjunker aws..

    SD 2010!

  • wow, so informative. this is incredibly meaningful. thumbs up!

  • ööh?:P

  • On the colorful bubbles, he was telling you what each color meant, he never once mentioned north america?

    Why?

  • Because U.S.A and Canada sucks

  • ...beacuase Canada and the U.S. both are members of the OECD, which he mentions: "the country club of the UN".

  • Because it wasn't relevant in the current comparison.

  • Great video! Than you for the information. My grandfather was from Vittsjo, my family from Smaland. Proud to have Swedish blood! Great work!

  • He forgot 100 000 killed by "forced medicine" in Sweden critical citizens to regimes yearly!

  • thats what you get for government controllng your healthcare

  • You live in CANADA jackass. Our government controls our health care too.

  • @punjabisikhwarrior Well its good isn'it?

  • Too many people talk about accent compared to content. Views is easy to have upon almost any subject but the argumentation is a different issue.

I think Mr Rosling is an excellent teacher showing the progress in society. The fault finders rely on accent arguments. Maybe there will a graph for pinheads soon...

  • Nice video, but how do you translate the income in 1701 into US dollars? Do you compare the price of grain?

  • But now, you can't even reproduce yourselves!!

    What a joke!

  • just wondering who is from sweden? and what are swedish girls view on dudes from the united states?

  • We like ppl from the Us, like everyone else, due to culture like music and movies. But we also love to criticize and question americans if they come here, about stuff like the war.

  • Love to play around with GapMinder. :D

Your accent reminds me of Robert Gustafssons ambassador. xD

  • I'm also from Sweden, and trust me, I don't have a accent like that. My dad and my mom speaks English like that though.

  • its kinda hard to get rid of an accent?

Try to speak swedish or spanish without and accent? huh?

do you even know another language than english`?

  • I can speak fluent Swedish and English without an accent in either language. :) cheers

  • Stop whine ffs, you can understand it right?

  • Hardly ;)

  • ur totaly FUCKED UP!

  • Oh fuck off you ignorant asshole.. you say you could hardly understand what he said.. well that only proves that you don't know anything about development economics or you weren't paying attention.. I'm guessing you're just stupid

  • What? He speaks good, clear, easy to understand English! If you can't understand him with his slight accent then you wouldn't be able to understand half the people of England who speak their regional dialects with broad accents!

  • Hmm... Didn't he say the Asian countries had a higher health-to-income ratio? Hard to see with that logarithmic x-axis of his.

  • You can see it due to that most countries lies to the left of the swedish axis, thus they have a better health-to-income ratio. But its a bit misleading, it could just aswell depend on a worse economi than a better health. Its just a matter of viewpoint.

  • Excellent presentation. I would be interested in seeing a similar presentation on crime in Sweden. Crime is underreported in Sweden, infact its hardly reported at all.

  • Hans Rosling is Awesome, i want too see more!!

  • motivated guy

  • US is 41st in infant mortality - behind Cuba

    (CNN Dec 14 2004)

Women in USA are 70% more likely to die in childbirth than in Europe (NYT Jan 12 2005)

Only USA & South Africa do not provide health care

Literacy: America is lowest of all nations except Mexico (Nat Geo Roper 2002 Global Lit rates) - Congress cut funds to Nat Science Fnd & send 3 billion yr to Israel

Foreign Grads applications to usa down 28% - We're not the place anymore

  • Great! Looking forward to seeing more vids!

  • hmm...

    very interesting.

in 2050, Brazil will look like Sweden today.

  • do u think this progress is due to economics or due to education.

  • Ive seen some of his other work, and i think he beleives there are 3 factors;

Democracy, Economy, health. Country start out in diffrent places, for instance, sweden started to build a strong economy, then got better healt and lastly we got democracy. (1921)

Education is part of the democracy i suppose.
