I am thinking about breaking up with my boyfriend i am really struggling with it , AND Every TIME I THINK ABOUT DOING IT I THIS SONGS pops in to my head ..so depressing;(
The crowd is too close...they're surging forward at Yvonne!! Security should be surrounding the stage to keep that mosh pit under control!! (It must be the way she sings "love me please, just a little bit harder")????...;-)
One thing about the 1970's. People did not believe in getting their asses up and dancing. C'mon man!!!! 35yrs. in the making & it will still put the new artists to shame. This song rocks!
written by the bee gee's but sung so perfectly by Yvonne. Man i dont get these white people in this video, how can they listen to this song and not move their asses a little. ''WHITEPEOPLE''!!!
European audiences always look like they are on Quaaludes or like Deer caught in the headlights. Every old performance I see done in Europe they always look so unmoved and unemotional, I'd be singing along or dancing in my seat.
Damn. I'm in love. What IS IT about that voice... strong yet soft at the same time! Great timing and phrasing on her part too. This song plus the divine "If I can't have you" showcase it beautifully (hats off to Barry Gibb). Still can't find the descriptive word for her voice though... "cozy" maybe?. I give up; it's just beautiful.
Imagine what it would've been like back in those days when we heard these songs, loved listening to them but not knowing what the singer looked like, but we loved the songs anyway. Today with the help of many devoted lovers of good music we can go back in time and re live our youth, to a degree. We can't buy time so use it wisely and cherish what we have.
Excellent ..fine.. super... great... and everything else ..bravo..etc.,,!, Brings me right back Bigtime. More than any other single i ever heard from that year.
Would give anything to go back there and then. Downhill slope since.
@chevyvictor this is how it was done then, unlike the no singing today. When you were on Soul Train, Top of the pops, or a show as this, if you could not come with your band you lip synched to your own record.
Yvonne hit that one out of the park!! I loved that song since my teen years. VERY underrated. I was surprised to see someone found a video for it. She has alot of soul in her voice, too! ;^)
This song brings me back to my teens. I used to sing it all the time. Love Yvonne's voice and of course the song was written by my all time favourite band - the Bee Gees. Classic!
I was only 9 when this song came out. Yvonne Elliman was my favorite singer. She had and still has a massive voice. I use to try and sing like her with my microphone in my hand (it was a hair brush). oh what fond memories. 40 + now and im still trying to sing like her (without the hairbrush) now (heh hehe). Your the womann Yvonne
What the hey, can't blame Elliman for going the pop route in the late 70s. Most musicians struggle to make a living. No one can discount the great stuff she did with Clapton and Blind Faith earlier in the decade. And although this isn't particularly relevant as regards Elliman's music, she is a gorgeous and sexy woman:) --
lol i konow what ur sayin "blancface" lol but anywho i love this song they always play this song in the jamaican club and i get excited when it comes on....
yester years! cherrish those memories dearly. music like yvonne will never fade. will be around for future generations to appreciate. let's keep our finger's crossed! for those of you who remember the music from the 70's, know exactly what i am talking about. I remember when she sang this song on dick clark's american bandstand! The only thing is Yvonne didn't know how to lipsync the correct way!
Great video of memories long ago! I get a kick out of the restraint of the audience...they must have been told to keep looking forward and not turn around...
There's me thinking Martine McCutcheon was the original singer.. But as usual, if you hear a song today that seems good, likely it's a rip off.
