  • Lovely and mellow. Beautifully done.

  • @Blacksquareable Thanks very much :o) The learning thing is just that there's always something else to learn on the guitar, thankfully!

    Cheers

    John

  • @LiteGauge what tuning you in?

  • @tanglewood95 It's in Open C

  • well played my man !

  • Cheers :o) Glad you're inspired. Have a go - great song by a great man.

  • beautiful voice!

  • Thanks :o)

  • Brilliant cover, thanks for posting.

  • Thanks very much :-)

    Best wishes

    John

  • This is absolutely beautiful! You have massive talent! Well done :)

  • Thanks very much, Betty :o)

  • Anytime ;D. Can i ask how long you've been playing the guitar? Ive just started learning and im wondering how long it will take to become as good as you!

  • I played quite a lot for about 15 years, and then stopped for a while when work and family took up most of my time. Now 20 years later I've started again. The good thing is it's like riding a bicycle. The body remembers what the head forgets :o)

  • Ahhh right. Well i guess perfection takes time, i shall keep on practicing :)

  • I think it really depends on how much you want to learn. John Martyn recorded his first album after only playing for about a year apparently. I'm lazy. You've got YouTube so you can watch and see what people are doing - - Fretkillr and GtrWorkShp - great stuff. On the other hand, I had to learn everything by ear which is also a really important skill to acquire. I've always thought that the most important thing is hearing songs you want to learn - that's a big incentive.

    All the best

    John

  • Yeah, i guess it does. I think john martyn's music is beautiful, but i'd prefer to play songs that people know. So i started on a green day and its going rather well :)

Yes, i shall check those channels out.

Well thank you for all your help! Take care, Betty

  • hi, what is the tuning that you used. the tab i found said that the b string needed to be tuned up to c, and a capo on the 1st fret.

  • It's in Open C, so you need to tune the B up to C and then tune the D to C, the A to G and the low E to C: CGCGCE

  • looking for songs about rivers for a session i am doing at at museum.

    came across this randomly.

really enjoyed your voice and phrasing.

  • Very well done dude, I'm a huge JM fan. I try to play too, wish I had a fraction of your talent with the acoustic. Good luck, keep strummin :-)

  • Thanks very much :)

  • really nice playing.....mellow voice too really enjoyed

  • Thanks very much, Robin
