  • Stiff! Hahahahaha!!!!:) boy joke!

  • if a wireless controller bumper fell off will that still work to fix it

  • Why not just hot glue the cardboard to the "little peg"?

  • sweet thanks and nice contoller

  • Worked great, took all of 10 minutes. Thanks!

  • Im sure i must fail, works for everyone else. You would of thought after dropping 6 previous controllers to the point of breakage I would of learned

  • you awesome

  • Thx man your the best omg I'm going to do it tomorrow and i did call my little brother a idiot for breaking it when it wasn't even broken

  • it works! thanks!!

  • My rb worked for the first few days but all of a sudden it dosnt work?

  • Okay so my LB kept feeling like it sticked, so I took my controller apart then I tried getting the RB and LB triggers off, I got RB off but couldn't get LB off, I tried using plyers and I just left a little mark, so what do I do now?

  • the rb on mine worked to begin with, why would the little peg be to short all of a sudden?

  • why can't they just put normal screws on it? that's the only thing keeping me from fixing mine...

  • fuck it im buying a new one

  • Basically dont fuck up when doing this, you can also short circuit the board by touching it.

  • Tamper? you mean Temper right? Tempered steel... Tamper steel makes no sense

  • my darn lb cost me alot of deaths in mw3!

  • How to Fix a Bumper on an Xbox 360 Controller (LB Button / RB Button

  • will this work of the Bumper is stuck? Its like im always holding RB

  • The stick beneath the button on mine is rattling around inside the shell! Think I may as well mod the controller as I'm fixing it.

  • I was skeptical at first... but this actually works really damn well! $2 for a security torx bit is a helluva lot better than $50 for a new controller

  • got 1 at Lowes. Its called the TT8 there.

  • where did you get your T9 screwdriver with the safety? I can find normal torx screwdrivers, but not one like that=\

  • Fuck that ill just buy a new controller.

  • you have the same controller I have

  • i have the same controller haha

  • im sorry, but i have a wired Power A glowing button'd controller...i cant see where the card board was, my right bumper registers, but i have like an OCD with this, i have to hear a click or i freak out, i cant play MW3 as much because i hate how i quick scope and try to throw a throwing knife, and i freak out and just wanna quit, im sorry, please, tell me an easier way to do it with the RIGHT bumper, above the Y button yes, but...i dont know where exactly to do this...please reply.. help please

  • thanks a lot! my controller works now (:

  • lol if its your first time it might be a little stiff THATS WAT SHE SAID!

  • Comment removed

  • Will this work the same for a wired controller?

  • @WalnutDave

I don't see why it wouldn't work, give it a try

  • Thanks man. Works great and everyone with a fitting screwdriver can do it.

  • Where did you get the controller? it looks badass

  • @Arkham44x

    halo reach custom edition

  • @DanieLDude1554 Oh duh I feel stupid haha!

  • i droped myne by acadent shud this work for me

  • when you play call of duty shit happens .... thats why i am here

  • anyone know a way to get that screw out in a more ghetto way, because as a mechanic you can make whatever tools you need even if it states you have to have a certain thing.

  • Thankz dude cause I was bout to buy another one tomorrow

  • cool video helped me out alot

  • I just did something like this over the weekend with my LB button and instead I used a little bit of glue from a hot glue gun. It may take a few tries to get the right amount on the peg but it works great. Make sure the glue hardens before reassembling everything.

  • how long before u have to do this again?

  • @MassGamer121

I have not had to do this again, it's worked fine so far

  • @DanieLDude1554 thanks tried it out and it works just how it used to =)

  • Mine was fine, untiI started hitting it playing trials hd and I got this problem

  • But it worked before I accidentally let my controller fall, why do I need to do this?

  • street fighter 4 ruined my controller

  • Thank you so much! After years my left bumper finally works! If this happens again I know what to do.

  • that's my controller :)

  • waste of time u messed up you pad by using a t9 your meant to used t8 because they make those all with long neck. also if there is a problem with the actual lb or rb bumper then what you are doing is useless and most people have that problem. and you shouldn't wave you pad circuit board and hold it with bare hands as much as you do coz you can kill the board and also break the rumbler connection not trying to be rude just trying to help :D

  • My controller is now perfect. Both LB and RB work after doing this.

LB was happy with 1 layer of cardboard. But RB needed 2 layers to "click" normally.

    Thanks

  • my controller had been having bumper problems in both bumpers.

I tried opening it up, putting it back together, etc, etc, but to no avail.

This worked great! Thanks! So ghetto, but it works, haha

  • thx, the controller not work perfect, but its okay ^^

  • The first 50 seconds were totally unnecessary

  • this video helped me along the way. but all i did is cut a small piece of cardboard the size of the peg it self and super glued it to the bottom of the peg. my RB is like new now. works just like my LB

  • IT WORKS!

  • Thanks

  • thumbs up if u raged at a game and came to youtube XD

  • Don't buy the t-8 i bought it and it doesn't have the hole so if the screw is stripped just a little bit you cant get it because it will just slip.

  • @TheFi3Ndx -.- maybe because you need an t8h the h stands for hole so buy an t8h and it will have a hole in the middle and u can open the controller

  • i'm about to try this tomorrow...fifa broke my controller.

  • @bobmarleydied9 same shit happened to me! fifa is not healthy for your controller! :O

  • @lillenjohan5 Me to :L

  • @bobmarleydied9 me too hahaha

  • @bobmarleydied9 same

  • How was that microwave meal?

  • IT WORKS

  • see the two pegs on the bumber strip one of them is snapped of is that makes the bumber wrecket?

  • how do u do this with the y button?

  • ooOOoohh thanks! :) i was so scared to start this, but now i can fix 2 controllers. my bf broke the bumper on both -_- thanks again!<3

  • i didn't have the tool so i stuck a pair of scissors under the bumper and pulled it halfway out and now it works again

  • My Green cardboard thing isnt coming off :(

  • thanks for the video man....i was trying to fix it for days xD

  • you kind of sound like tom hanks

  • Where do you get the screwdriver from?

  • or u can fix it with a knife

  • only works on wireless not wired

  • thanks

  • thx dude... i've used a butter pot to make the "device"

  • THANKS FOR THE VIDEOS!! IT S WORK! :D

  • what if you are fixing a wired controller and is mess up on the left bumper?

  • mine makes a wierd springy noise

  • I found it kinda funny this is the exact controller i'm trying to fix...

  • Well, i'de be a shit covered dick, this really fuckin' worked!

  • Fixed my pad with a teeny square of foam rubber 1/4 size of a postage stamp. Second biggest pain was getting the fancy screwdriver (Amazon: £1.50) Biggest pain was reassembling the darn thing, without all the bits dropping out.

  • I actually used a fine tip screw driver to take out the screws. Worked good.

  • my Y button is jamed, its really unreliable, what should i do?

  • @TheMrHDTV just clean it. if its not the bumpers or analogs, it just needs cleaning.

  • Hey dan dude how can I fix my controllers A button?. It doesn't respond when I touch the A button but when I touch it or press on it really hard it sometimes will respond.what can I do if anything to make the A button on the controller work everytime I touch it ? Thank you for any info you my sugjest

  • i have the exact same halo reach controller as this guy, its pretty cool.

Also i cant belief that you have too get all those stupid little things just too undo al the screws its soooo bullshit i dont wanna have too get that just to undo the screws fucking gay!!!

why cant i jiust use a screw driver? fuck!

  • Hi, I took my controller apart yesterday to change my thumbsticks and a few other bits, When i put it back together the lb doesn't click, It still works but sometimes stays down when you press it. will doing whats shown in the video sort it? Thanks.

  • by the way i did this yesterday and it works as good as new, i mean even better i think :D

  • This is my acutal problem....my xbox left bumper for the comtroller is clicking normally...but it isnt responding can you tell me how to fix this probem?

  • bought that wrench, works great, the bumper works, but i have to really press it to get it to, should i try a thicker piece of cardboard?

  • Hey, if my controller is working fine, do i still need to do this process?

  • @ISHOOKAI no, this is only if you can't use your button anymore.

  • when you are lifting the mother board on the remote just push up on the joysticks and the board will pop out easier :) <3 keep up the good work

  • where did you buy the screw driver?

  • Any idea if just swapping data boards would work too?

  • it was so wierd my lb didnt work, and i tried to take it apart, but got stuck on 2 screws, so i gave up and put it back together, and it worked!

  • @DanieLDude1554 my buttion is jammed it can hit it but its jammed

  • Thanks so much :D I was getting really annoyed from the button not working but the cardboard fixed it right up.

  • wht aout when it clicks well but it wont work

  • i use a small Phillips or flathead tgat works fine

  • Dams got so pissed I just threw my controller and my rb and lb don't work

  • Thanks, man; this worked like a charm for me!

  • I tried & it didnt work, plus I have experience in repairing consoles, controllers etc, I guess I'll just have to buy a new controller :(

  • I have an easier way to fix it. Go on ebay and buy a new one for 15 bucks.

    Much easier.

  • @imnotbad9 "Easier" doesn't necessarily mean cheaper. It also doesn't mean faster, as the author of this video said above, shipping could take a while. I mean, really. Who wants to spend 15 bucks on a controller unless you really have to? Just fix the damn thing. It's a learning process as well.

  • Thank you sooooooooo much this worked!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks! Good as new!

  • Hey were do u buy that T9 torx

  • This is such a stupid design fault, mine fell from my couch and the bumper was broken. Fixed it with your tutorial, thank you!

I used an actual playing card for best responsivness. The coating makes it more flexible.

  • Thank you so much this worked for me aswell i threw mine at a the wall cos i kept dying at black opsswell

  • Thank You soooooooooooo much for making this video. :)

  • DanieLdude can i post my controller to you and you do it for me please!! : |

  • I have a problem, I did this step by step but when I put my controller back together, the buttons become really hard to press and lose all springing functionality. And also my bumper "strip" is super loose and it falls off without my having to put any pressure on it, is this a problem?

  • @WhatTheToastt

the button will lose a little bit of it's original springyness and will not sink as much when pressed down as a regular bumper, but there is nothing that can be done about it. However if the bumper is really hard to press and it isn't moving at all when pressed down, usually the cardboard is too thick. as far as pieces falling apart... make sure you correctly assembled it after doing the mod. What you described isn't normal and it shouldn't be happening.

  • @DanieLDude1554 But that is the thing, when I first took my controller apart it was like that. As soon as I took the board out the bumpers fell off. And also the bumpers won't work even when there is cardboard.

  • @DanieLDude1554 Nice tutorial but would this fix my controller if it was because I dropped it? It might've landed right on the bumper button but I dont know

  • what do you call the thing that the bumpers are attached to that says Microsoft on it???

  • actually if you use super glue and tiny peices of cardboard you can just glue the little pieces to the sticks and it works better and its simpilar cuz its the same thing for both sides but thanks for the video it gave me the idea

  • Hey man my rigth bumper is messing up and I can't get it to get the firm click could u help me out

  • (RT) bad. It is as if the button was pressed all the time.how do I fix??

  • @thiagorokero22 just buy a new controll :P

  • why not use plastic instead of cardboard ?? thin flexabile plastic

  • @mcarroll1983

I just say to use card board because it's easy to find and it's stiff but flexible. plastic tends to be too rigid and doesn't bend well. you can try it if you want though.

  • Hey DanieLDude can u make a video on how to Place the piece of cardboard on the right side cuz mine broke from the right side and I don't to mess up

  • Thanks...tried it and it worked like a charm. Took it to a repair shop the other day and the guy there told me that the "clicker" was broken and that it could not be fixed and his best suggestion was to buy a new one...he needs YOUTUBE!! Thanks again...

  • thanx it worked :D

  • thanx it worked :D

  • thx bro worked perfectly

  • this video has sooo many "thats what she saids"

  • nice. rather than using cardboard from a cereal box like video, i used the plastic casings from merchandise because the cardboard was too thick and made that "squish" effect. the thin plastic was good

  • droping ur controllers reall y doesnt helpm i have 8 broken ones it seems to be the sllim design tht breaks the most for me thr all in repair my brothers doing it for me :)

  • i didnt have one or knew where to find one of those torx screwdriver things but i managed to fix mine by gently priming inside the left bumper space with a box cutter and it started clicking and working again but it gets stuck sometimes but i just repeat the process

  • You too? The same fucking controller broke for me.

  • You can do this tutorial.. OR you can save time and just buy a new lb/rb piece that he took out off ebay for like $2-$3. Same dis-assembly except i recommend taking the controller off face-up using tape to hold the buttons in place.

  • @thesorrellsfactor

would buying something off of ebay really "save time". shipping might take a while...

  • @thesorrellsfactor

If it's not the bumper though that won't fix it. I had a messed up LB button and tried just replacing the bumper, but it didn't fix the problem.

  • @thesorrellsfactor its not the bumper its the pickup

switching out the bumper won't do shit

  • lol the T9 fits perfectly... after you hollow it out with a screwdriver.

  • the little white button on mine doesnt click and when you play it presses itself down and its really annoying i cant play anything because it presses on its own

  • @motaro47

oo me too. like i push it, it works, maybe i push it again, it works then it pushes its self.

(sprinting and stoping automaticly in halo)

  • THANKS FOR THE HELP!

  • dude my reach controller has the same problem thnk u for the video

  • thanks a bunch man!

i called Microsoft. and they told me i had to pay $50 to get mine fixed.

now i got mine fixed for $3.00

    thanks!

  • it seems like my controller dont want to be split apart, i have the controller from the xbox elite can that be why?

  • @chrizTAUBR

as long as you have an official Microsoft controller it should come apart. Make sure you took out all 7 screws, including the one behind the battery cartridge. That one is the only one that isn't visible so it's easy to miss. For more details check out my dissassembly tutorial on my page.

  • @DanieLDude1554 HAHA! thanks i forgot the one behind the battery cartridge :D

but thanks mate your videos are really really helpful, keep it up :D

  • Thanks. I was going to get a new controller but I had the necessary tools to get this done.

  • Tip: if you take blow dryer, wax paper, and , a thin blade you let the blow drier run on hot turbo or what ever is a hot setting. Just blow air on it for 2-3 min and begin to peel with the blade and slide the wax paper under while lifting. This allows you to stick it back on.

  • Oh thank you lots it worked and all but i had to keep the screw by the button just a bit loose so it could work...but it works perfect thank so much :)

  • LOl all i did to fix mine was push the button even harder...now it works

  • @xXSN0K1ngXx Me to

  • would it work put a dab of hot glue gun glue on the little white button?

  • What if the RB workes but requires more push than the other. What should I do?

  • My journey to fix this issue on both RB and LB buttons took me 2 hours. I used carboard from filter paper, a screw driver not designed for the screws, duct tape and a pair of scissors. As you can tell with the equipment I used it took a lot of patience, I ended up spilling all the other buttons on the floor when trying to get it back together and having to replace the cardboard. I no longer have rumble as I ripped them of cos they got in the way. At least I have a controller. :S

  • The black button on my bumpers are broken and now I have to press really hard

  • wat about buttons like a or b

  • I dropped my controller an now it has a problem when i press it and wont click prperly it just slides down. Like in assassins creed i have to press it down like hell in the left down corner to activate the weapons whell for a brief period. I will open it to see whats in there but i thought someone could help me with some clues.

  • I see the little cardboard piece but what is that piece below it? It looks like some kind of cotton? Help?

  • Thanks Man!!

  • it works, thank you so much, now to fix 2 more controllers...

  • just trying it now, im using super glue instead of tape hope it still works, great tutorial

  • sorry, i mean that, my xbox controller was dropped, it has fresh batteries, but when i play a game it shuts off, it's annoying, how can i fix that?

  • @machodudelaser

if your using a rechargeable batt. try regular batteries. If you're using reg batteries make sure they're are fresh? If they are try a different battery casing. other than I don't really know what is wrong with it, i've never had that problem, sorry

  • @machodudelaser He sounds like Tom Hanks.....lol

  • @machodudelaser the case might be loose... wrap sum tape around the case to tighten it...

  • i dropped my xbox controller and it keeps shutting on and off when it has fresh batteries even, do i have to buy a new controller?

  • thanks so much. I decided to use a glue gun on the bumper piece instead but this video helped with everything like opening it and understanding why my bumper buttons stopped working. Thanks!!!!

  • Excellent tutorial, followed all the steps precisely..... worked like a charm

  • so this happens when the little button hitting peg gets squished and shortened by the fall
