Why would anyone debate with someone who has gotten every single fact in a 4.31 minute video wrong and cannot pronounce Khadr or Guantanamo? If you want to debate adults, try educating yourself first.
@CanadaUDHR First sign of an adult is that he/she does not judge the validity of a person's argument on pronunciation. Why debate someone who got "every single fact" wrong? To correct the misinformation. You could have at least mentioned a couple.
Dear Christine: It's always nice to have proper education. First you should educate your self and then speak in front of the audience. Your bias and xenophobic mentality is not appreciated. Keep repeating "Guantanamo" until you get it. What a waste of time to argue with you!

Apparently you don't know anything about the case, so maybe you should not be talking. Go do the research and get your facts in order then come and talk. And just so you know, we were born here, we have as much right as anyone and everyone. As for him being a murderer, were you there? just in case I missed something, no one in their right mind takes a guilty plea after 8 years if he expects any justice. It was a kangaroo court, with only one side of the story heard. For justice and freedom.
just so you know the courts said he was treated inhumane.. and the proof is some hyped out millitary man who wants to kill everything that moves.. so ya i dont think you would want your kid treated this way for disagreeing with the popular thinking
This neurotic woman is lying! This whole story is a joke. Khadr, victim of a horrible family, was brought to Afghanistan at 11, and captured in a compound which was bombed by planes, combat helicopters and attacked by 50 to 100 American troops. Nobody knows who threw a grenade, if any grenade was ever thrown. Then he was shot twice in the back when he was in shock on his knees. After that he put in an illegal dungeon in an island, tortured and "confessed" in a kangaroo court. Shame!
if the kid had not been in afghanistan, and taken to guantanimo, I would have said lock him up for life. but being captured and taken to a barbaric prison, where all prisoners were tortured, if not physically then psychologically under the pretext of guilty without trial, itsnot easy to completely condemn him. I know a man named moazzam begg who is now back in england after being released from gitmo. he admittedly went to fight and protect his relatives from invading soldiers, continued....
@jancrowb ....as coalition forces went into afghanistan, as unwelcome aggressors, then, for muslims to go there and protect their own families from the invading forces, should be an acceptable thing to do, considering the afghans never attacked anyone to begin with. obviously soldiers will die as a result of this, the deaths of the soldiers should be blamed on their own government for sending them to invade other countries. if khadr's family dont like canada, then they are always free to leave.
Well, no. I don't think I'd ever despise Canada, but if I did, I would voice my problems with the country and push for change. In fact, that's what I do now. I don't know if she's pushing for change, but telling someone to get out of your country because they've voiced their opinion isn't very... well... Canadian.
Sorry for the miss understanding.Make the changes and voice your opinions on those things even if they aren't in line with my beliefs. This woman is insaulting Canada just to insault it.She doesn't want to change this country she just doesn't like it. I don't like Iran so I will not be moving there. As for her leaving her homeland to find a safer place to live she could have moved to a ton of places. Why IMMIGRATE to Canada if they DO NOT LIKE Canada?what is she gaining?
Agreed. He gave up his right to citizenship when he decided to fight against our nation's troops and allies. His family should be forcibly kicked out of the country, along with anyone else who objects. Like they should have done with Laibar Singh- what a fucking farce THAT was.
For example there were two survivors of the bomb attack the destroyed the compound that Khadr was in. The other survivor was armed with and AK-47 and grenades while Khadr had been unarmed when found. Since no one saw who threw the grenade why did they assume it was Khadr? In addition Khadr lost his left eye, has shrapnel behind his right eye and had shrapnel wounds to his arms and chest. Could a boy that badly wounded even throw a grenade?
Hi Christine...a few corrections for you. Omar was born in Toronto, there is strong evidence that he was tortured in Guantanamo, and the American GI that shot him stated that he was cowering in a corner behind an adult fighter, who was shot along with Omar in the altercation. You may want to watch a CBC doc on the incident:
@cansurfer1 Have you seen the home videos of him building IEDs? He wasn't cowering then. Thanks for the info on the birth place didn't know that. He was not a child soldier at the time according to Amnisty International. Thanks for the comment.
@christinepeace Hi again. Yes, the video to which you refer is included in the CBC DocZone feature I mentioned. It shows him standing there smiling while adult Taliban plant the devices. Did you know that he was blinded by shrapnel from the air strikes that proceeded the ground fight? That incident report docs were altered? That the chief interrogator in the case, Sgt.Joshua Klause, was later indicted for torturing an innocent prisoner to death? and there is more, but I'm out of comment space..
@christinepeace There is nothing wrong building IED against a military invading a country and killing civilians. Even my family members did it in Italy. He is not a murderer, but a child soldier under his father control. He was even tortured by war criminals.
he will eventually end up serving time in Canada, probably in a facility in Kingston, then receive a 10.5 million settlement for his ordeal from the Fed's, hence why he wants to come here.
That kid was a terrorist in training and took up arms against American soldiers defending a secret cache of insurgent weapons to kill my nations troops.
He graduated and should have never left that alleyway because he is now a danger being a clear example why ;both civil law and the Geneva convention needs to be amended with the realities of modern day asymmetrical warfare in mind.
@Huttate1 Anyone that fights against Canada and NATO countries as a civi that kills, yes I would take their citizenship away. As of were they go that will be their problem to work out. There was a woman from Canada that when to eastern europe in the early 1990s as a sniper for the forces on the opposite side. She is dead now but if she wanted to come back to Canada after her murders of NATO troops there is no way I would want her back here.
@christinepeace Why not try them for treason ,but I gusee that would be hard to prove unless you had proof she actually killed a Canadan.. Sounds like she went to Yougoslovia ,Serb , Croat or Muslim ???...
He isnt just a murderer. He travelled to a war zone to fight and kill Canadian and or Canada's allies soldiers.
If that isnt an act of treason, I dont know what is.
And because he is indoctrinated into militant (orthodox) islam. If he holds that ideology, he will always be a threat to Canada and Canadians. Only a fool would ever let him walk free in Canada unless he gets successfully deprogrammed from islam.
I don't know much about this story but speaking about Canadian prisons, do you know if your countries system is more concerned about punishment or rehabilitation? This would be on some sort of continuum between the US(punishment) to Norway (rehab).
Hey stranger, hope you're keeping well! :-)

I have a feeling the facts may not be as plain as they appear. (Often the case in war.)

Why would someone IMMIGRATE to Canada if they DO NOT LIKE Canada??
I don't care for Saudi Arabia, therefore I don't immigrate to Saudi Arabia.
I don't understand why people immigrate to countries, then complain about the very same country to which they immigrated. WTF???
Flights leave daily,... don't like it, move.
