Using instrument racks gives you more flexibility when layering sounds, but bouncing the audio gives you different controls over the sound since you have it as an audio file. Both methods have their pros and cons, so its essential to know both.
hey mate, just to let you know i used your technique today, and it works great. But i used the simpler and used 4 different bass sounds with the same notes and sequence and then cut and pasted them together!!
cool sounds, but this is this is really an inefficient way of layering. This guy may be a pro but this isn't the best advice for beginners. Disagree? Watch a few more tutorials on creating layered sounds. Or play around with Sampler for 10 minutes.
@amorchola Are you joking??? Name one program better (and thats after you actually learn ableton before talking shit.) Stick to fruity loops and rainbows!
@soundskeeperwillie The fact that that is what you've convinced yourself of means you're an uneducated noob. Deadmau5 swears by FL Studio, as does Porter Robinson (even more so, actually).
Dude, your tutorials are brilliant, I've already learned so much about this program from your free stuff, if I ever get money I'll buy some shit off you, word
@antiropos use a real moog save up and get a little phatty along with the control processor and a couple mogerfooger pedals and yu have endless possiblities but moog vst is great also f sho what is your fav vst?
great tutorial! Have you tried using legato mode to switch between the alternate bass takes instead of doing it manually? Pretty sure you could do legato mode, map clip launches to your keyboard, and record it into arrangement, then just fix it / duplicate parts to finish.. might be quicker

Instead of recording the midi track into the audio track, i have a better solution. duplicate the midi track, freeze track, flatten.
cool layering, btw.

Nice tutorial.
Why does everyone feel the need to compare one DAW with another?
If you're making good music, who gives a fuck?
I've been using Ableton for a year or so and I love it - My mate uses FruityLoops and makes pure fire beats. It's all about what suits you.

in your opinion which program is better fruity loops, apple pro logic or ableton?

You don't need to record in real time. You can drag the midi part to an audio track & it will give you a recording
MrPetepetepete 1 year ago 4
@MrPetepetepete
That did not become possible AFAIK until Live 7, which Tom did not have at the time he made this tutorial.

Yeah, use 1543-ca4d23-611de
If it doesn't accept it, try unplugging your internet then restarting the program entering the serial and then plugging your internet back in.
