Everybody has the year on this wrong, including Favell. He has the opponents and score right but the year is wrong. He first wore the mask against the Kings on Oct 29, 1970, not 1971. I have a Flyers program with full colour pictures of Favell with the orange mask in action against Jean Beliveau and John Ferguson of the Canadiens, both of whom retired at the conclusion of the 1970-71 season. By October 1971, Beliveau and Ferguson were both retired from the NHL.
Jim Rutherford had the first designed mask. His red wings placed above his eye holes was the first designed mask.
