  • Helpful, thanks!

  • Thank you so much for making this video! you're great. (:

  • Thanks dude, I'll watch this again with my acoustic in front of me. The Guitar pro version is impossibly hard. ( cause of my small ass girly hands) This seems playable. PS, complete new guys here, so you mean dropped D tuning in all other normal but dropped E to D string? or dropped D in the whole guitar dropped one step? with guitar I figure it out though I guess.

    Cheers,

  • @Burkie782 Thanks It's just the top E string to a D

  • Thanks dude, cool.

  • good man!! :)

  • Thank you very much, I know there are multiple ways/sections to play this depending on acoustic/electric but I honestly like your way more :)!

  • Very well done and clear, thank you.

  • you have a good voice, you should train it more.... and nice playing man, you should get a different guitar though, there's too much buzzing.

  • good playin and good voice ;)

  • nice job,thanks. BTW,love the guitar.

  • great lesson - thanks mate!

  • Great lesson. I had to chuckle when I realised you were sitting on your kitchen floor though.

  • Does Chris Cornell add in the buzzing strings in his version too? I kinda like that effect please let me know how to achieve that buzzing noise. Thanks Jason

  • @jasonbear72 The fret buzz is actualy undesired. A consequence of sloppy playing or a bad set up. A bit of both in my case :-)

  • @skater4life29237 Arlene Roth, a respected guitarist, video teaching pioneer... quote

"Bar chords can be painful; work on it for awhile , play something else, get back to it later". The strength will come in time".

  • the clean acoustic sound is nice, never heard it that way before. sounds better than the effect Kim had going. i think it almost gives it that temple of the dog-ish era tune.

  • I like the buzzing string effects really cool.

  • tks for tips mate!!!

    well done!

  • thanks Underdog! I love this song and now I can almost play it! haha... I just need work, been playing 2 months and lovin it!!! Graci!!

  • Hey I'm kinda new to playing guitar so I'm confused on how to tune it in Drop D. How do I know the top string goes from E to D? Any help?

  • alot of grunge bands have drop d tune

  • Very good lesson, and splendid vocals there. Wouldn't mind seeing a video with you covering this song.

  • Great lesson !!!<<<

    MANY MANY THANKSSS

  • WHAT CAMERA U USE ?

  • thanks man, great lesson - focused.

  • nice lesson but what about the struming pleeeeez!!!!

  • Super!!

  • is drop d tuning a half step down, normal, or something i dnt know? plz tell me in step form! half step 2 step wat?

  • drop d means the top E goes down to D which is a full step. The other 5string stay in standard. :-)

  • @underdog7676 the matter is this: I tuned my bass at 440 herz and then I dropped down my E string to D. I tried to play listening the original video here on youtube and it seems I am detuned. Also setting my E string on normal E and starting to play from the 3rd fret (G note) anyway it seems detuned. I think this song is not tuned on standard 440.

  • @Domenix71 if you didn't get an answer, i believe you have two problems

    a) videos on youtube of songs tend to not be 100% accurate on the pitch of songs

i don't know if it happens when people rip the songs on to the computer and upload them, or if youtube's quality kills it...but it never sounds right

    b) i believe the tuning for this song is e flat, so half step lower

  • @banklikefrankwhite1 Maybe, but I asked to a friend of mine to lend me the original CD to try to play this song and I got the same feeling. Of course the song is great and I like it, but the tuning seems to me not right. :-)

  • @Domenix71 oh, well if you listened to the cd, and it still don't sound right, try tuning all strings a 1/2 step down, if that don't work, you may be playing it wrong, if you read tabs online, try multiple versions, and see which sounds best for you

  • @banklikefrankwhite1 thanks for your advice :-)

  • @Domenix71 dude, i was wrong, and i have no idea why i continued to type that when i have never thought it was that tuning.

what i meant to say is that it is dropped d, but it's possible that it's dropped d with all strings a half step lower.

  • @banklikefrankwhite1 when you play along to the album version tune your guitar in drop D tuning however change the frequency setting of your tuner to 433hz. Sounds spot on when i play it... Hope this helps.

  • @dbswann isn't that dropped d style tuning, with all the strings being relative to e flat?

    (example D flat, A flat, G flat, B flat, and e flat)

  • Ok on the album Superunknown they obviously recorded the song in Drop D however they altered the pitch when they recorded it onto tape by slowing it down etc... many bands have done this eg Metallica RTL album, Pantera Vulgar Display of Power album. If you have an electronic tuner and you can alter the tuning frequency to 433 Hz and tune your guitar like its in drop D then you will be in tune for the superunknown version of this song...

    @banklikefrankwhite1

  • @dbswann so is it between drop d with all strings flat, and regular drop d? or is it one or the other?

  • @dbswann i just realized i forgot to type that in the first place, that it was dropped d with all strings a half step lower. still, i'm not positive, i've heard versions on youtube where it sounds like the half step lowering is right

there are other recordings where it just sounds straight up drop d

    i don't know.

with the studio recording, on my good sound system, it's definitely drop d

  • @Domenix71 i have confirmed, they use e flat tuning for this song..hope that helps

  • @underdog7676

is it possible to play this with a capo?im not that good in tuning.

  • @shotterslife all you do is tune the low E down so that it when you play it on the 7th fret it sounds like and open A string

  • @BratsInBatallions bring your Low E down a whole step to match your 4th D. so while in complete standard, just play your 4th D and tune you Low E to match it's pitch, probably the most common way of doing it without a tuner.

  • @Ghostofgrace92 The other way to check it is the the 7th fret should match the A string.

  • thanks for your tutorial

  • Great lesson. Easy to follow. I'm playing the song after 3 minutes.

  • I've been looking for this. Thanks a lot bro.

  • I think that some chords are wrong and the notes are also a little bit wrong

  • Great tutorial... Thanks!
