Dear computerpurple, (cool name btw!) the practice of destruction of private property, is still going on today. I have a Palin Power bumper sticker, after this election, it will need some body work, and a new paint job. Both sides of my car are keyed, a dent kicked in my door, and multiple gouges all over the car. It is truly ugly the extent to which Obama supporters will go to "support" their candidate.

IMHO, it all goes back to the teachings of Saul Alinsky.
