4.10 Gearing? Was it fast? My trucks only got 2.42s and a 5 speed and i can take off in 2nd. I blow thru them first gears so fast but 3rd-5th are longer
can you please tell me every step you took to make your truck sound like this i have a 1997 5.9L Ram and i am at my wits end cause i cant get this sound
Hey 01DodgeRam360, I have a 1970 Chevyrolet C-10 with the 350 V8 in it. I ts got headers and the stock mufflers. I wanna get Flowmaster Super 44's for it but I was wondering if it's always gonna scream. If I just drive around and don't really hammer down will it be that noticeable? The cops are assholes in my town. Thanks
@WhiteNuklz966 My 89 with a 350 has Super 44's on it and if you're driving Ms. Daisy it's not all that loud but if you get on it it'll make your ears ring a bit. My full setup is Hedman LT's -> true duals -> Super 44's -> 4x18 stainless tips.
did you gut the cat completely or not and did the check engine light come on when u gutted the cat and did you leave the o2 sensors in or do something with them in a diffrent way
could you please tell me all youve done and bought for this exahaust system, because im getting an 01 dodge here soon, and in my opinion this is the best sounding truck ive ever heard and i want mine to sound similar to yours.

@ smartpartsionlover, i have the same problem and i was told it was the universal joint that needs to be replaced. and the truck is nice dude, very nice sound
Yeah, I agree. It got a little too raspy with the gutted cat and longtube headers. Shortly after I had made this video, I put a magnaflow catalytic converter back on and it smoothed things back up.

hey man I have the exact same truck. It's bone stock, thanx for putting this up now I know what parts I should get. what brand lift do you have on it? That 44 sounds REAL good.
Well, if you want long tube headers, buy the Pacesetter headers with the matching 3" y-pipe. Make sure they are the ceramic coated ones so they don't rust.
yeah thats what i was thinking. good power coming from that setup? figured i'd throw a hollowed out cat on there, having the welder out already. and of course. rusts ugly lol.
Well, you wouldn't need an x-pipe if your running a y-pipe, that's if your running a true dual. You could buy the pacesetter long tube headers with the y-pipe and buy a universal magnaflow catalytic converter with a single 3" inlet/3" single outlet. That's what I ran for the headers.
The guy across the st from me floors his stupid ass harley down the street EVERY time he leaves his house, can't wait, I'm getting my new exhaust installed on my Ram today....hahah...payback time.
fight fire with fire :D I live right next to a busy street, I hear people flooring it all the time, only time it annoys me is when ricers do it, but I enjoy the sound of a v8 going down the road any day
@papaown Usually, I wind up laughing in the face of the kid in the rice burner with the fart can muffler. Hell, my old slant six with a turbo muffler sounded better than a rice burner.
OMG ... Dont tell me you just replaced the mufflers !!!!!
cause thatss loud son ! I just bought a super 44 for my jeep and I really dont want it to be as loud (louder than my stereo) LOL.. did you take the cats off too ?
The 4.10 gears were stock, so I can't contest to whether they helped or not; however, they do enable me to choose a larger size tire without effecting the power of the truck. The gearing on this truck is the number one reason why it's so powerful.
personally i would have kept it like this but im also kinda an outlaw want to be rebelious person and i like loud trucks that pop alot. i need to get a vid of mine now and have my cats cut off and make a vid of it. id love it without the cats cause itd be loud as hell.
My brother owns a '95 F-350 with the 460, and he runs a 2.5" true dual with an h-pipe, and gutted cats (pipe through them). In the past, he has run dynomax bullets, super 44's, cherry bomb extremes, and super 40s. The bullets and the cherry bombs were extremely raspy at full throttle, but it never got quite as crazy as the dodge for some reason. I would definetly suggest cherry bomb extreme or a flowmaster 10 series. And gut your cats if they aren't already.
Well you can just take the cat off, but goodluck getting it inspected. The point of the gutted cat gives the illusion you have a cat so you won't get fined if a cop looks under your truck or if its getting inspected. I would try the cherry bomb extremes. The super 44s are bulky mufflers. Having two of them isn't going to help. On a true dual system, run a smaller muffler like the bullet, cherry bomb, or flowmaster 10. And run some nice exhaust tips too, going behind each rear tire.
And yes, headers will most assuredly add to the sound of the exhaust. I know Hooker makes some nice longtube headers for the Fords, go on Ebay for some nice prices. My brother runs the the Tri-Y Doug Thorleys.
i was thinkin goin true dual super 44 with my truck and maybe headers. what kind of performance gains did you get and how much mpg do you get out of tht beast
Headers will definetly make the truck sound awesome, and they will provide an excellent mid range and high end boost to the truck. Honestly, I don't think a true dual is necessary with these trucks seeing they only have about 245 h/p. If you do go true dual, it is said to go with 2.25" piping, which to me, seems redundant. Also, I would stay away from glasspacks, they are trash. If you want it loud, get the cherry bomb extremes.
i hear a lot of ppl talk bad about glass packs. my brother in law has cherry bombs and they sound awesome he is on my friends list check his vids out.. i also was checkin out this vid of a 99 ram with the extreme and it sounds good as hell. idk wht type of new exhaust i want to get its either betw the true dual cherry bombs, possibly the extreme. which would be louder and have the better aggresive tone? also i was thinkin bout the super 44 after hearin your vids
to get the sound you have thou would i have to get my cat gutted and the headers? i just LOVE the way yours sounds. im just in betw. 3 differnet exhausts lol just want it to be as loud and as best sounding as possible. ne idea how to get the check engine light off it i gut the cat?
I also will mention that if you get headers, you don't have to gut the cat for it to sound nuts. A high flow magnaflow cat can keep it smelling right and not throw any codes, while still letting it sound nuts, just not as raspy. If you hadn't noticed, I no longer run a gutted cat, it droned too much for me, stunk, and the exhaust note got a little too choppy driving around town for my taste.
k im thinkin about gettin pace setter headers with intake and throttle body spacer. not 100% sure on the exhaust yet.. so you have a high flow cat on ur truck and this vid and it sounds that good?
No, this is what it used to be. The truck no longer is in this state. I had to take the lift and tires off because of a lawsuit with a transmission company. If you want to hear my flowmaster 40 muffler with a magnaflow cat, check my videos out under "dodge ram mudding" and "dodge ram flowmaster 40". And for the tb spacer, the dodge forums say they are a waste of money for these trucks.
honestly if i didnt know better id say you were running straights on here. i think id love to get true super 44s but i dont have th money. i think imma get true dual straights on mine. i already have true duals i just need ot cut my cats off. then itll be loud as hell.
Lol yes that muffler was very loud, loved it. As for true duals, I just want to make it clear that it doesn't necessarily make it louder. A single muffler can be equally as loud, and in my view, sounds better over all.
It just started to loose tone and crackle too much after the headers and gutted cat. I thought the magnaflow would be neat, but I hate it, no definition. I'm posting a magnaflow video right now so you can see what I'm talking about.
oh really? All the heat and pressure of it wore the plates in it huh. You should get true duals, LT headers should always run true duals because of all of the heat and force throwing down the exhaust, especially without cats. I got rid of my Silverado in April, only had 6500 some miles on my Super 44s. Still sounded great, but rusted as hell. If I get Flowmasters again i'm for sure going to paint them to prevent the salt damage. I'll look out for the Magnaflow video
Yeah, I noticed that in this video the truck was crackling way more than the other videos with the long tube headers. Too much crackle for my tastes in my opinion. Can't wait to hear the 40 series though! Is it a Super 40? Original 40? Delta Flow 40?
It will be the original 40 with 4"x18" tips. I also have installed a new magnaflow cat to eliminate any unwanted crackling. Can't wait to get the system put on and make a video.
I've thought about a true dual, but I don't know if it's exactly necessary. The LT headers came w/ 3" collectors and a 3" y-pipe. My piping is all 3". I kept a lot of torque with this set-up, and it sustains power throughout all power bands. Plus, swapping mufflers is less painless.
Sounds good, good call on Original 40. That and the Super 44 are the best Flowmasters IMO, less restricted, and best sounding! Looking forward to hearing your exhaust once you have it updated.
i live in freeport. yea i had magnaflow and i hated it. the super 44 is great but it is to loud in y cabin 4 me, so i switch over to the aero turbin 3030 and its awsome. it sounds bigger than it really is
i saw this thing blow past me on the highway. my god best truck i have ever heard. i have a 99 dokota r/t wit supper 44 single in dual out wit the fipk kit and it sounds nothing like yours wut do i do
Ha thanks man. Where do you live? I actually just bought a flowmaster 40 and some new tips and I'm changing it again. Right now I have a magnaflow going out the back and I HATE it lol.
ah, i gotcha, i had to get rid of the dodge i told you i got.. it had alot of motor bugs, and that big lift killed my gas milage. so i sold it for 8,000, but i bought it for 7500, so i got some money to play with. i fixed my chevy after the wreck, so its back on the streets. i ordered me 2 super 44's today and they will be here friday. i cant wait!!
i can most definately agree with 5maredod, that is one badass dodge!! I just wish i could make one of my trucks that awesome. had a dodge for a week, and i couldnt afford the gas for it, so i sold it :(
4.10 Gearing? Was it fast? My trucks only got 2.42s and a 5 speed and i can take off in 2nd. I blow thru them first gears so fast but 3rd-5th are longer

Well, if you want long tube headers, buy the Pacesetter headers with the matching 3" y-pipe. Make sure they are the ceramic coated ones so they don't rust.
01DodgeRam360 2 years ago
yeah thats what i was thinking. good power coming from that setup? figured i'd throw a hollowed out cat on there, having the welder out already. and of course. rusts ugly lol.
educ8tedhorses 2 years ago
whats the 3" y-pipe for tho? in place of the muffler? or else where
educ8tedhorses 2 years ago
Well, if you put the pacesetter headers on, the collectors are going to be 3", so the y-pipe is 3" to match the collector size.
01DodgeRam360 2 years ago
oh, well i have a 2 in 1 out cat so i'd need a mid pipe followed by an x pipe to connect to the cat right?
educ8tedhorses 2 years ago
Well, you wouldn't need an x-pipe if your running a y-pipe, that's if your running a true dual. You could buy the pacesetter long tube headers with the y-pipe and buy a universal magnaflow catalytic converter with a single 3" inlet/3" single outlet. That's what I ran for the headers.

It will be the original 40 with 4"x18" tips. I also have installed a new magnaflow cat to eliminate any unwanted crackling. Can't wait to get the system put on and make a video.

it should sound good, when do you think you'll get the system installed?

I've thought about a true dual, but I don't know if it's exactly necessary. The LT headers came w/ 3" collectors and a 3" y-pipe. My piping is all 3". I kept a lot of torque with this set-up, and it sustains power throughout all power bands. Plus, swapping mufflers is less painless.

Sounds good, good call on Original 40. That and the Super 44 are the best Flowmasters IMO, less restricted, and best sounding! Looking forward to hearing your exhaust once you have it updated.

ah, i gotcha, i had to get rid of the dodge i told you i got.. it had alot of motor bugs, and that big lift killed my gas milage. so i sold it for 8,000, but i bought it for 7500, so i got some money to play with. i fixed my chevy after the wreck, so its back on the streets. i ordered me 2 super 44's today and they will be here friday. i cant wait!!
