such a bunch of crybabies - you get signed by a record label, you deal with their producer.. they had NOT earned the right to call the shots when they were making that album.
I'm sorry "Walk Like An Egyptian" had such a negative impact on The Bangles. But, I love the song, it's catchy, colorful, fun, and a great pop rock song. Many years later, after all the drama, The Bangles look like they're still having fun with the song while performing it live.
I love the remix of "Walk Like..." combined with images of Michael Jackson's "Remember The Time" music video here on YouTube. It's an awesome mix.
I so agree with the comments about Walk Like an Egyptian. It goes to show you that if u can make a song about a stupid dance like Macarena, it would be number one or at least in the top 10.
At 3:35 the narrator says they went back in the studio to record Hazy Shade of Winte in early '88. Actually they recorded and released the single in 1987. It was in in early '88 that it reached its chart peak, #2, on the Billboard Hot 100 a.k.a. pop chart. It spent a week there, 02/06/88 -- not in April as the narration says. At the time, Could've Been by Tiffany was in its first of two weeks on top.
I completely agree with Vicki Peterson -- it is the only Bangle song I have never liked and it never really seemed to fit that great garage band sound that I know and have loved them for!
Proof that oftentimes producders do know best even though the egotistical artists don't like their stuff being tampered with. I've seen so many bands try and do just what they want and they're horrible at making creative decisions. Watch any local small dive band and you can see how most have bad ideas as far as song selection, song order, who sings what songs if there are mutliple singers, instrument volume, etc. Sorry, but producersmanagers are creative artists too and totally necessary.

I think at this point Suzannah started believing the hype about herself and thought her poop didn't stink. The fact her solo career never took off proves the opposite. Two bad two of their biggest hit singles weren't written by themselves. It kind of puts a bit of a damper on them. They were truly controlled by the puppet masters at the record company
To quote Rush, "Glittering prizes and endless compromises shatter the illusion of integrity." To some of the Bangles, that's what they felt had happened when they recorded "Eternal Flame."
sad story - they really could have been a great band
Makes you realise why the best bands (artistically) are the ones that garnered limited commercial success

@mrberryv I hate when BTM makes mistakes. Cause I swear by them.

@mrberryv how long did they made a song after the brutal lame Egyptian song that created the tension?

I have to agree with the women themselves - I like "Hazy Shade of Winter" a hell of a lot more than their other hits.
