I love the movie. There were a lot of gun fights in the old wild west. However, there were just as many in Appalachia. I got family who were in gunfights in Harlan County, Kentucky. Lots of people died back there even after the west was settled, '20s, 30s. The Hatfields and McCoys was in around West Virginia, Kentucky. These feuds and gunfights are never talked about.

I love the shot of the four of them walking, in black, with fire in the background, as if to say they're walking into a very bad situation, which would continue on for the rest of the movie. OR... it's a symbolic gesture of what was said earlier: death (all of them dressed in black) and hell (the fire) followed. Great shot.

this is the most accurate re-enactment of the OK Corral gunfight, I read this encyclopedia about the wild west and it showed the layout, how the bodies were found, who was standing where, how th first guy ran off and Ike Clanton ran into the studio then off out of town. kind of fascinating to see it how it really happened.

I grew up 7 miles from Wyatts birthplace. I went to school with some of his descendants, their account of Wyatt Earp as a person is vastly different than history's. They all viewed him as a sociopath and cold blooded murderer.

The fight is a bit inaccurate when you see Tom McClaury, the man that Doc blasted with the shotgun. The movie shows Tom getting hit and falling dead immediately. Tom actually staggered away from the fight and later fell dead in Fremont Street. Also it is believed that Morgan Earp fired the first shot.

In many ways, Billy Clanton was the most tragic figure of the shootout. He was just a brave, but naive, teenager who took after his family (who were all on the wrong tracks) and was messed up, thinking he had to man up. In the real fight, when some of his 'friends' (and his own brother) ran away, he stayed blazing at the Earps, and was shot multiple times. When a town person came to him dying in the dirt, he asked in a weak voice for some more bullets for his gun. Those were his last words.
