I've been trying to find a video of a baby that does what your baby seems to be doing. My little one just started doing this 1 week ago and I feel devastated not knowing what she has. They only did the EEG sleeping but she gets these episodes while awake. They said it was tics but I just feel it might be more serious. Have you found out more information since your last post??
She is beautiful!!!! I work with little ones with developmental delays, and seizures sometimes accompany them. I cant imagine your frustration and worries, where do you guys live? how are the services where you are?
Baby Ria (now coming up on her 3rd birthday) never got a diagnosis. Also she 's suffering from autism-like developmental delays which also have not been diagnosed conclusively. Its a medical mystery and very sad and frustrating. I wish I had some answers for you.
In case you haven't found out yet, I'm almost positive it is benign myoclonus in infancy. My daughter has the same exact thing. The EEG will be normal.
Please post if you find out what this is. I have an 8 month old who has been doing something very similar upon waking or shortly after waking. We brought her into the doctor today and are scheduled to see a neurologist in then next few days.
Please, if you find out what these are post it! My duaghter has been doing this as well since she was about 4 or so months old and have been to neurologists many ped's and had eeg's, ultra sounds, and ct scan, thankfuly they have nearly disapeard but still have no answers she is now 17 months old and has had a so called febrile seizure with only a low temp not to mention always getting sick and unexplained fevers gag/vomiting issues. but it is exactly the same thing.
EEG study with constant fast (beta) rhythms. The finding may be due to the chloral hydrate (Noctec). No focal or paroxysmal discharges were seen. An awake EEg study is recommend.
Results from 03-10-08
This EEG is normal. No focal, diffuse or generalized abnormalities were noted. The hyperbeta pattern seen on the sleep EEG of 03-06-08 was not duplicated in this awake study.
the onset was sudden. It started that same day after waking up from a nap. Her initial EEG wasn't conclusive as to whether or not the episodes were actual seizures. She goes back in on Monday as well.
I was just wondering if this came on gradually. My daughter started doing this shortly after turning 6 months. She doesn't do it as so many times in a row, but it is the same movement. Do you have any idea what it could be? We go to the doctors on Monday. Thank You!
