"it's me coming across...not someone's perception of me" she speaks so nice...and she's totally right and honest, the music she has now is the emancipation of who Mariah really is...she stood the test of time but she progressively improved to the point where what you hear is 100% her...i don't know why people say her music declined...I guess your not real lambs since your living through a different perspective of who she is...im just glad she's happy

Personally I don't think she's any different here than now - I think back then, if she trusted the interviewer she was more open (really that's human nature though).
Imagine being in in the machine of Sony and not knowing who to trust - that would be extremely stressful and obviously you're going to come across as being on guard.
