When he's talking I can just picture Niel from 'the Santa Clause' talking in his diagnoses voice!!!!! LOL! Anyways, Great Information for beginners! One thing to note; lighting software that runs your lights strictly from your computer (not a board that is software driven) is only good in smaller venues ( under 3,000).
This would be much more helpful if there was a spreadsheet or chart that compares all of the DMX software features. So many of the sites don't have full descriptions of their features. The auto generator and boundaries are very useful features but so far I've only seen them in ShowXpress going through your list. I'm not sure if Freestyler or other software packages have that feature because most of the sites limit their software description/feature list.
Thanks for the vid , YES there is alot of new or old software at the momment , kmoew one has really explaine freestyler , in the U.K , USB controlled dmx is quite new here , so I hope you post some more vids Thanks
hey dude, can you help me with my terbly mc-512 dmx interface? it of course comes with its dmx lighting software. i can play my scenes but i'd like to know how to put them into a chase and then run them just like what i used to do before with my dmx controllers.
Hi...Can you direct me to the Revo III fixture profile for the 4 or 10 channel mode into the SweetLight controller software? Your videos are very helpful. You helped me decide on what to get and how to operate some of the features. I figured that if anyone knew where to get that profile ... you would.
I was able to do all the other fixtures that I have except that one.
Keep up your great videos because us novices need all the help we can get.
Thank you soo much, this video was so useful. I am a student sound and light engineer, i've been looking to purchase software and thinking about the various options surrounding them.
You have helped me so much and I will definitely be purchasing soon.
Hello!! Thanks for your video, it is very helpfull. I have a question for you, which light would you chose from accu spot 250 II and pearl river solo 250..Thanks a lot!!
For software: freestyler + enttec dongle. Enttec Basic requires your computer to do all the DMX work (higher demand + slower response). Enttec Pro does the work for you (less requirements on your computer, + faster response time).
Hardware: Chauvet DMX-70 has some very nice features not found on other low cost DMX controllers (like ability to save specific times between scenes).
hey hows it going...what is, in ur opinion, the best bang for your buck? i am about to do the switch to DMX... so far the only dmx light i have is a American DJ Mega Flash Strob(sad i know) but i am about to get four 250ii and some scaners.
Great info here, but why are you talking like that? Just talk normal on your next video. We will still get the content. And we won't get quite as annoyed. We are not fifth graders.
Great Vid, very helpful-Thank you. Of the software programs you have become familiar with, which program is the easiest to use, yet isnt too limited? I plan on using LED Par 64's and some smaller background lighting fixtures for my band. So I think I will need trasparent cues, but wont need any lasers or moving lights any time soon. Any advise? Thanks again dude!-Corey
canyou controll MAC intellgent Lights with the Chauvet ShowXpress? Im soon thinking about buying it, what one do you use and how much was it? many thanks
ShowXpress can control any DMX fixture. It's whether or not the software has the fixture in the visualizer. Most moving heads are fine. It's the effect lighting that usually are more limited. Take for instance the Revo/Vue Lines, none of the visualizers I know of can accurately create their effects.
I bought the BOX version ($499-512 channel). Great for portability, but the Rack mount ($899) is great for having 14 programs loaded into it.
Thank you I have a Freekie controler and now I think I want to go with a software based one Can you use a freekie as a hardware controler for lightjocky? Mike directsound
