  • is

  • loved the commodore Amiga os. best icons.

    Brix!

er, on topic- love this band.

  • Those pop-up info windows were so prescient.

  • EXCELLENT!!!

  • THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST THE BESTEST

  • MES, bestest by far - he's a like a really, really bad actor playing a Ukrainian hitman who has decided to make music (when he's not killing people) and thinks he's blending seamlessly into the Manchester landscape... The most original, consistent and couldntbeanythingbutBritish rock star ever?

  • LAUTER!!!! WAS ISN DAS FÜRN SCHEISS?

  • The bestest ever... bestest? is that a word?

  • @nath909 If it is, then it's the bestest word ever.

  • OMFG !!! Them cups missed and shouldn't of AAARRRRRRGGGGGGHH

  • ah, the shiny shirt period. great tune, love all the versions.

  • Lmao faiil

  • Youtube really does have the most argumentative community eh. I remember reading the lyrics to this in Smash Hits (accompanied by an interview with MES & Brix) and loving it cos they were my favourite band. FWIW i think this is a decent cover of a classic tune and no more, i don't know why people need to argue about the validity of it. It's just a pop tune.

  • total shite, they've even got the chords wrong. . . .

  • If only all fall songs were like this (yes I appreciate it's a cover!) what with good lyrics and Mark E Smiths actually singing rather than talking his way across the song then I might have been a fan.

  • @revol148 Typical manics fan.

  • @manicbabyshambles123 I wouldn't call myself a typical manics fan as I pretty much gave up with them by the mid 1990's however what's the big issue with wanting a song with a tune to it? Captain beefheart is the alternative and I wouldn't wish that on anyone!

  • @revol148 You can wish Captain Beefheart on me all you want. Sometimes you feel like a tune, sometimes you don't.

  • @frrrrrunkis yeah - true. Both the fall and Captain Beefheart are an aquired taste - on balance I prefer the former.

  • @revol148 Are you saying tropical hotdog night doesn't have a 'tune to it'? Listen, then listen harder. Then fu***ing really listen and realise you need to address the wrong turns you've taken in your life.

  • @strasse38 Hi - just listened to that dirge of song you mentioned (I even got to the end without turning the sound down) - thanks but no thanks! Wrong turns in life eh - at the age of 37 I have quite a few although I have never married, never claimed the dole and have no children so it's not all bad I suppose! "most people are cunts" - the most important thing anyone has ever said to me.

  • this is my favourite fall cover, the video is also brilliantly simple.

  • Weak offering musically and rambling video. If you are going to rely on covers, at least ensure you add something to it. Mind you hard to even get close to matching the 1974 R D Taylor offering.

  • @tokyostory88 I'll be sure to pass on the message to MES.

  • @TralfamadorianRed Nice reply, mate. I'm sure MES would be absolutely heartbroken to learn that some so-and-so on Youtube didn't like this song...lol

  • @tokyostory88 you idiot...this is class...this is just an interpretation..not meant to be a carbon copy.

  • @melonie0303 : Putting your personal insult to one side (always a sign of weakness in a debate ) I think you will find almost anyone would call this a cover - even the group. An interpretation involves adding your own input (musically and /or lyrically) My God even the video has a "ghost" in a "house." Just what then has been "interpreted"? other than blind copying of a great song played in a raw fashion? If this is class, you have a whole world to discover yet..enjoy!

  • @tokyostory88 this is not meant to be a carbon copy..it is an interpretation

  • @tokyostory88 R. Dean Taylor's version was actually first issued in 1966. It was reissued in 1974.

  • @GarudaStudio Thanks but I knew that. The 74 version is musically the benchmark to compare and contrast and the one that gets played everywhere. Slightly more refined production levels without loosing any edge.

  • @tokyostory88 behave ... cracking version by MES

  • @tokyostory88 Lol. Yeah, I don't think this "Fall" will ever amount to anything. They're a one album band at best.

    Just kidding. MES is god.

  • @tokyostory88 What the fuck do you know? You like crowded house.

  • @tokyostory88 your interests include casual hiking, that means you are gay

  • Thanks for posting, great band, great song and great video :)

  • was he married to Brix?? (the girl in the vid)

  • @wpinklady Yes. He was.

  • @TralfamadorianRed yep sorry i posted this comment & the Chart show info came up her name was Brix Smith!!!! silly me!!

  • @wpinklady isnt he the brother of brix? ^^

  • What a load of pish

  • i would love to see mark e smith in a movie as the brother of mr. bean. lol.

  • Brilliant

  • fkn cool!

  • That World Cup single with Shuttleworth is much, much worse.

  • Mark E. Smiths's lowest moment, although he's created a great cover (due to record company pressure at the time).

  • Mark could have played The Riddler...

  • quality, nice post, the woodthorpes all posh now had a refurb a few years ago, drive past the place everyday

  • Wow he was young!
