Barkley is way overrated, he's hyped up way to much, he might be able to do his cute play action against a team like San Jose but its not going to happen like that against Ohio State. USC better plan for a whole lot of 3rd down and longs because his ass is going to hit the turf a lot. As for the run there may be a couple nice gainers but OSU's defense is great at stopping the run so i can see runs of 2-4 yards average thats it. Congrats USC for beating San Jose....now you will really be tested
i cant wait to go to the game on saturday in ohio and cheer on my USC trojans, and listen to the crowd get all loud and then after a quarter of play listen to the silence when USC pulls away from OSU, i think it will be a good game for a quarter, but OSU dont have athletes like USC does to keep things going, pryor is the x-factor, the oline, defense, running backs, and wideouts are USC's x-factors. our defense gotten better since vince and pryor is no vince.
Barkley, in his first game, was only asked to manage the game, not be the hero. It looks like that the new Trojan philosophy is to run the ball 66% to 34% pass, whereas in prior years it had been 50-50.
Against the Buckeyes, if the Trojans fall behind by 2-TDs, expect Barkley to throw a lot more.
And as far as Barkley's play-action technique in concerned, it is on par with Booty's, but not as good as Sanchez. This, too, will improve with experience. He does need to lose some weight.
I'm a USC alumni and I think USC will lose at OSU this weekend. Matt Barkley, as highly touted as he may have been/be is not a good college QB. His release is slow, his play action is horrible, and he cant expect to go into someone's house with 102,000 people and get a win. Unfortunately, loss # 1 to USC this year in Columbus.
LOL. So i guess when sanchez had a bad game in oregon state last year that made him a bad QB the rest of the year....especially in a big game like the rose bow.
alright it's easy to say this but have some faith trojan! i agree with a lot of what you say but OSU has a tendency to choke and SC has better players at every other skill position. we have a great O-line, awesome running backs and WRs. as long as matt can hand the ball off, throw short passes and avoid interceptions i think we can do it!
You're a USC alumni or an alumnus? Pretty poor representation I'd say. Your prediction is pretty poor too, seeing as USC's offense doesn't revolve around the QB. You're an idiot.
Alumnus...you obviously knew what I meant. Using the wrong word on an internet page makes me poor represntation huh? Nice.
By saying the offense doesn't revolve around the QB makes you sound like a dumb-ass, chief. If not around the QB then around who!!!??? You're an idiot. Someone once told me to never get into an argument with an idiot, looks like I fell into the trap.
Wow, chief, you really ARE dumbass. By saying "the offense doesn't revolve around the QB" means that USC racked up almost 350 yards rushing, as in, THE TAILBACKS, with only 200-something yards passing to complement the running game. Matt Barkley threw the ball 19 times. NINETEEN. That's a conservative offense that relied on the RUNNING GAME, you moron.
Learn something about football before you argue about it, moron.
I'm a huge USC fan but you just sound stupid. Sorry
Also, if you actually watched the game, Barkley constanty ran play-action and bootlegs all game. Conservative. Non-expansive playbook. Didn't need a variety of passing when the running game was so strong. Hence, the game did not revolve around the QB, chief.
You just don't get it do you. Pete Carroll doesn't take a national championship-contending team full of veteran (junior and senior) talent, and put their hopes on the shoulder's of a true freshman QB. Yes, he may be asked to do a bit more than vs SJSU, but with veteran o-line, RBs, and WRs, it's not much. Game won't revolve around Barkley, whereas OSU's game revolves around Pryor.
I never said it would be easy, chief. You're not very knowledgeable about football, chief.
Well I'll be the first to admit Barkley proved me completely wrong against OSU...I mean he wasn't spectacular but he did what he had to do and honestly looked great on that last drive. Great job. Next time I'll reserve judgement for a later time....Walking away now with my tail between my legs ;) Fight on.
Thanks, ryan4sc. Barkley has since proved himself & has a wicked arm. The comments are too funny!

It wont be that easy against OSU, Chief. OSU is not SJSU, the game will have to revolve around the QB.
