  • words too quickly to read... I have soiled myself.

  • Just started rewatching your vids. Guess I missed your soothing voice. One thing that bugged me is how weird the actor (or model i guess) who plays Bonds in this looks.

  • @obzcure and yes sadly rewatching your vids means paitence in hearing that voice again

  • Sierra games hate you and everything you stand for.

  • i love the excuse some people make, try being a woman cop for a day, ROFL, that excuse is long overdue, try being a black cop or a latino cop for a day. why is it that people who have been through hell the most complain the least often? I rarely hear Native Americans complain about the bullshit they have been through even though it far outranks Blacks, Asians, and Latinos, and poor whites put together.

  • is this the best police quest game? ive heard the driving parts are pretty bad...

  • @dageezerboi The driving parts not the greatest but you figure it out pretty soon and you do need to drive to get to locations which is pretty cool.

I think this is the best Police Quest of the series. It was the first one to be VGA and the music and effects added were excellent as you can see. This was probably my favourite adventure game of that time right next to King Quest V.

  • -felling silly- Right after I posted that I changed my dosbox settings to sb2 and ran the install program and set it to sound blaster and it sounds just like the vid now. Thanks and sorry to bother

  • @Cooldude73859 Nah, don't feel silly; I'm glad you got it working. :)

  • @LateBlt

what is DOSbox and how do i get to it? plz answer!

  • @kepochi1 Google is a website where you can find things on the Internet. Please use it.

  • @Cooldude73859 If you want to know what this game is supposed to sound like (with a Roland MT-32), check out my Let's Play of it: /watch?v=5zbgDFBt7rY :P

  • Ok do you remember your sound settings for dosbox? Ive been tweaking them and tweaking them and stil cannot get mine to sound like this vid...

  • @Cooldude73859 The problem might be your game settings rather than the DOSBox settings. Make sure you run the INSTALL program that comes with the game before you run it.

  • ウヒョ~♪懐かしい♪日本人だから日本語でゴメンね:-)

  • These games were awesome, but I guess I can get my fix with LA Noire :D

  • I always thought Sonny's face in this game looked a bit like an older Mark Hamill, lol

  • Go to gog(dot)com for all 4 police quest games. For $10 you can get them all and able to work on windows xp, vista and windows 7.

  • PS3 and SQ4 were my first introduction to Sierra's new point and click system. The 256 colors and graphics blew me away!

The only part I remember getting tripped up with was the plot point/pentagram part.

It gives me very fond memories!

  • Anyone else notice how later in the game the nightstick disappears from your inventory?

  • LateBit, can Police Quest 3 be played on a PC operating Windows Vista?

  • @cabourassa Yes, very easily. Just use DOSBox.

  • @LateBlt how can i play this on DOSBox if i don't have the disk but the files? like i dowloaded it off the internet.

  • @LateBlt how can i play this on DOSBox if i don't have the disk but the files? like i dowloaded it off the internet.

  • @Sikeman214 Just run DOSBox, go into the directory where the files are, and run the executable there, which for Sierra games will usually be SIERRA.COM or SCIDHUV.EXE. If you haven't mounted any drives, you'll need to mount a drive in DOSBox in the folder where the game's files are before you run the game.

  • @LateBlt thanks bro, that worked!

  • @cabourassa you can buy the whole collection on GOG.com (good old games) for 9.99

  • @cabourassa Use ScummVM.

  • this game smells like bacon.

  • I LOVED this game. Still good by today's standards.

  • 1. Slowly exit elevator.

    2. Turn speed to max.

    3. Open door down hallway.

  • LateBlt i love your vids I' ve seen your let's plays for PQ1&2

  • @RussianInvasion101 That's pretty awesome, considering that I didn't make any videos of PQ1 or PQ2.

  • @LateBlt

You must been doing them in your sleep.

  • LateBlt i love your vids I' E seen your let's plays for PQ1&2

  • Damn... this game really brings back some good memories (L).

I still remember getting this for my birthday when i was 12. I was a huge Sierra Adventure games fan, but the police quest series were the bomb.... PQ3 was my fav. of all times... :-). I also had the awesome PC Beeper. too bad i didnt had a soundblaster or Adlib soundcard. But it didnt make the game worse for me.. i LOVED it!!. haha :-)

  • Slow... The Hell... DOWN!

  • @LateBIt i think u should do it like bobby summers does he's funny and awesome

  • oh come on you know the music rocks if the man who was in charge of music for Miami Vice was composer of the game

  • 0:26 - 1:05 is some seriously epic music

  • I think Pretty much 90% of let's plays have commentary for a game... This would be a walkthrough regardless if you are super good or super bad at this game.

  • Unfortunately, many publishers today aren't willing to market something "different", which is understandable from a sales perspective. I prefer to place the blame on the mass 'main-stream' gamer crowd, however, who place too much preference on graphics and franchise.

  • How could you get the game to work, especially with sound? I had no luck on a Dell that can use DOS.

  • Easy: Use DOSBox. :)

  • @LateBlt I don't know how to use a DOSBox :(. Also, why is your playthrough a Let's play without commentary

  • @KiethSomataw99 There are infinitely many how-to videos and tutorials about DOSBox on YouTube and the rest of the Internet. As to your second question: Because I did not put any commentary on it, preferring instead to let the game speak for itself.

  • You seem to be faster than the game in most cases. Also, I had no luck trying to run the game from abandonware after it was downloaded.

  • this isn't a lets play, it's a playthrough... or a walkthrough i guess. let's plays have commentary

  • freaking morales

  • This is good headbanging music!

  • Where can I download police quest 3?

  • From the usual abandonware sources.

  • any suggestions ive looked an no luck all of them are demos

  • Who did you ask? Looking on the web is a complete waste of time, you need to check with your local sceners.

  • I only wish you'd done commentary for this one like you did with some other LP's, it made me look around for another one to watch. Alas, this is the only option :(

  • What I liked espacially in PQ:

    - the story

    - the caracter Sonny (looked better dark brown-haired btw)

    - the authenticity (police codes, police procedures that are to be respected)

    - the graphics in PQ1 and PQ2 (classic!) the graphics leave much space to imagine details on the caracters and the places for yourself, like reading a novel in a book

    - see Sonny making his career, you really have the feeling that you are this caracter

    etc.

  • - the text / keyboard interface in PQ1 and 2 (I prefered it to the drag & drop interface in PQ3)

  • PQ1 and PQ2 have been one of the reasons why I liked Max Payne so much. I watched the playthrough of PQ1 and PQ2. Max Payne and PQ may be comparable to the point that you play a cop ONLY. BUT it is that feeling to look for and to keep the good in the world - chasing criminals and revealing their crimes (don't know how to explain it in other words).

  • it would be great to see a modern version really..

  • they remade some of them, or at least the first one. its really much better, and graphics are pretty good.

  • They would probably make a 1st person shooter and fuck it up...

  • I would like that PQ X(10) Become a FPS.

  • No dude! fps's all ways are the same generic game as the last one.

We need something new and fresh. Something different then killing an entire army by your self but still not getting your commanders respect.

  • I wonder which parts of this game are inspired by actual events from Jim Walls' career...

  • Falling through the poorly maintained stairs is one, definitely.

  • These games were super rad. I too wish they would make a modern version...

This game on the GTA 4 engine would be awesome!

  • Wow, I never realised how old this game was until I read what the computer tech tells you about your snazzy new in-game computer "It goes from 0 to 30Mhz in 3.5 seconds and has 4MB memory capacity." Thanks for posting this series BTW, I never managed to get past Day 5 and that damned pentagram puzzle.

  • I remember my family's old Windows 3.1 computer. Had to work pretty hard to find space for X-Com UFO Defense, which was a whooping 20 Megabytes.

  • Thank you for putting this up, but next time don't skip the messages so quickly;).

  • it's too bad they stopped making games like this.. they were really awesome.

  • Yeah, I'd love to see a new game like this. I'm hoping there's some developers out there who enjoyed playing these games when they were younger, and now want to make a new one. That's basically what happened with Fallout 3.

  • Well, there's freeware games like this. Under A Steel Sky*or whatever it's called* and the Ben Jordan series comes to mind.

  • goldskarr

    > Under A Steel Sky*or whatever it's called* and the Ben Jordan series

Those are decent but they're still not sierra games ;-)

  • Im all for a Police Quest 5!

  • @emulator900

They haven't stopped entirely. Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper and Still Life 2 were released last year I believe: both are point-and-clicks.

  • Jan Hammer's soundtrack is pretty good.

  • Mark Crowe worked on this, which might explain why there was a little more humour in this compared to the other games (Mark worked on most of the Space Quest games, which are my favourite Sierra games)

  • Most of the Sierra adventures had a fair amount of humor in them... I remember someone once observing that "Of all the Sierra adventures, there isn't a single serious one among them."

  • i'd say that of the earlier ones, but there was little humor (intentionally anyway lol) in the later releases like Lighthouse, Shivers, or Phantasmagoria...even Police Quest 4 lacks the usual self-depricating humor of the other 3

  • Police Quest 4 had a different guy in charge.

  • one of the most confusing of the Police Quests... I hate the part where you have to post the points on the computer

  • Yes, that part comes up later... It helps to take good notes in this game, for sure.

  • about how long do you have to wait?

  • About 10 to 15 minutes. If I recall correctly, the game is actually programmed to some exact number of minutes like that, a number which is obviously much more than enough if you know what you need to do when the game starts.

  • GO SONNY GO!

  • The story's ok but Quest for Glory are still by far the best of the Sierra games in my opinion. Nonetheless I still clocked this game.

  • Quest for Glory was indeed a great series, I have to say my personal favorite Sierra game was Gold Rush

  • Finally a Police Quest 03 play through video. This won't run on Vista. Despite what Vivendi Universal states.

  • Have you tried using DOSBox?

  • You get punched if you walk into the women's locker room.

  • Indeed. I didn't film all the goofy things and ways you can die in this game; maybe I should have.

  • I think you should do that...lol

  • thanks to youtube, I can figure out what to do now! I remember trying to beat this game.

  • I REALLY want to watch this all the way through, but I plan on playing this series someday and I don't want to spoil it for myself. Guess I'll have to sit out on this one... damn... :(

Well, good luck with the LP! I'll bet it's fun.

  • The PQ games aren't as awesome as most of the other Quest games, but they're fun enough. I've been thinking of doing a play-through of Hero's Quest (a.k.a. the first Quest For Glory) next, but I question how much fun it would be to watch the RPG elements...

  • Yeah, that's what I've heard. Still, I'm always up for playing Quest games I haven't tried before.

Personally I hate watching people play RPG stuff, but I think QFG would be great to watch. If you have any way to edit your videos, you can just cut out all the bits where you're fighting or leveling up.

  • How did you get the combination to the locker? Police Manual? Where was that?

  • Yeah, the manual that came with the game has all the codes. Briefly, the codes that you actually need in the game are:

    Sonny's locker code: 776

Possession of a concealed weapon: 12025

Driving too slow in the fast lane: 21654

    Driving too fast: 22349

    DUI: 23152

  • I agree, speed is a bit too quick. Overall, kudos to putting this up. I was going to make a PQ3 walkthrough but searched to see if anyone else did it before I made one ;)

  • Could you have played it at a slower speed? Bit too fast to keep up with.

  • I've generally tried to keep events visible. I deliberately pause on all text messages for what I believe should be long enough for viewers to read them. I have the speed cranked up to the maximum so time isn't wasted just watching Sonny walk around, but other than that, I don't think too much gets missed. Is there anything in particular you feel went by too fast?

  • Not anymore. I just paused what I wanted to read.
