I geuss Wing Chung comes the closest to that but it dous not work eighter in a free fight. That sticky hands only work when grabbed in close quater and all they do is sticky hands all the time...
Demos are a huge waste of time.. they're actually really embarrassing. It is just a bunch of guys pretending to be affected by a strike and falling down and being very compliant. It would probably be more effective if you just show how it works in the octagon. I'd love to see someone bend over from a leg kick or fall over from a limp wristed push in real life lol. Sorry but demos only appeal to people easily swayed by bruce lee movies.
I'm interested in buying his dvd just cause I have SCARS dvds and would like to add to my collection of basically the same fighting style. Does anyone know where to get a copy?
@ZachMac209 - just saw that you left a stupid reply and no I bought it because I'm smart and realize that what Jerry Peterson taught and left to Blake and Tim and many others is THE TRUTH and not some bullshit MMA or BJJ! So I would have some respect you fucking moron or if you think it's bullshit then go to Phoenix and talk with Blake. I have and just by talking with him he's a regular person like everyone else but he's also a deadly man trained by his more deadly of a man Jerry. So Fuck Off!
@Revelation21st As I stated before HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet you jack off of pictures of Jon Hess. Anyways, I was in the military in in the 21st century, and there is a reason that they don't do line training anymore (It's not that effective after all). So go ahead and have 5 dudes line up and throw moves that are totally choreographed and shut down some dudes heart or whatever the hell 1985 has to teach you. You probably walk the streets in camo daring someone to test your "skills"
@ZachMac209 - that's good that your punk ass went and served but your still a pussy by being a negative piece of shit. Now I do think Lew ripped off Jerry and SAFTA is a water down version of SCARS but it's still interesting to have. As for your comments I think you're the typical young fag boy who went into the military when it's as soft as shit than what it was 15 to 20 years ago. I bet you were a pencil pusher instead of infantry so shut your lame ass up or come to Tucson so I could do it!
@Revelation21st At ease!!!!!!!! You need to chill out. You just walk around AZ waiting to beat up some illegals or what? You seem way too defensive about how badass of a street fighter you are which tells me you probably do most of your SAFTA verbally from behind your keyboard talking about how things were "back in the ol' days"
@ZachMac209 - Actually I don't look for trouble but the trouble looking for me the end results weren't too good on those assholes. As for you I don't care about SAFTA and I don't speak for anyone. I'm sure that Lew from SAFTA, Jerry or Blake from SCARS, and Tim or Chris from TFT could beat your fucking ass with ease so shut the fuck up! If you care to try me how about coming out here bitch! With a name like ZachMac I could see why you're the hardest man ever on Youtube. Lol
I have a black belt in strip-mall karate, a white belt in aikido, and some BDU's I ordered by mail. Am I ready to market my own Special Forces Black Ops Hardcore Killer Death Fighting system?
"They key here is catching the punch. It is a very realistic goal to be able to catch a straight right. So once you do that, he will never be able to retract his arm, so go ahead and twist the fist you just caught. With no effort, you will break his arm in many places and walk away the victor. Buy my DVD now for 700 dollars."
@boxxymaus He poked eyes . thats why . He didnt get a chance to eye gouge against Belfort who beat him bad , REAL BAD in 12 seconds . Vitor must be a SAFTA MASTER!
Lew Hicks is a personal friend of mine, and the tactics he is show are demo. its obviously not real time or hard contact being made. Navy SEALS are obviously not crappy fighters, he was a SEAL for 30 years and an instructor at BUD/S. So obviously the military seems to trust his skills and teachings. Dickheads
wow, class 57,,, you obviously went through training a long time before I did. Which tells me you were pretty senior in rank when I was around. I wonder if you ever actually worked with lew,,, like i did or was just in the same command. I can tell you that guys that worked with him knew lew as a knucklehead and a liar. And he certianly was not sought out for his knowledge or asked to be a BUD/s instructor because any operational expiereance or ANY martial arts abilities. That is a fact.
And no,,,, Lew was a Dental Assistant when he first got to the Teams. Lew might have changed his rate (MOS) to Machinist Mate afterward,,, this was commen for guys to do. It enabled them to take a different advancement test that could be easier, or sometimes different just had more opportunity to advance.
Your right, the navy has NEC's or rates, and not MOS's,,, most guys with military expierance (Army, Airforce and Marines) have MOS's and I thought I would tailor my response to the majority. I refered to his job (a Dental Tech) as a rate, then included "MOS" so guys would make the association
He was one of the Platoon's Radio men. And not a very good one! The joke use to be that "Lew couldn't make Comms with a pay phone and a pocket full of change"! He was made one of the Platoon's radiomen because he couldn't shoot, and it was safer to have him with a handmike in his hand then a gun.
"NAM"?!?! ROTFLMAO Lew is not a veteren of Viet Nam, He's not old enough! So you could'nt have "served" with him there, which makes you a Liar, Lew's first platoon at SEAL Team 1 was in 1983-84.
Oh yeah,,, its true,,, I have known Lew since he was a new guy in the Teams. He was a prior Dental Tech in the Navy and came to Team 1 as an E-4. He was unable to make rank for years,,, the guy was, is, and always will be an ass clown. Why don't you have another drink of kool aid fella,,, and a word of advice,,, don't let an alligator mouth overload a hummingbird ass.
What an ass clown. I'm embarressed to say that I served with this idiot in the SEAL Teams. Anybody that served with him knew him as a complete fucking idiot . He was widely regarded as a liar and a joke. He was a NON operating piece of shit. His claim that he "refuses to discuss any real world missions he was involved in for fear of comprimising other ongoing missions and operators" is complete bullshit. He never did anything. What a fucking joke,,,,,,
Yes, I really did serve with him. His reputation was self created while an instructor at BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training). His reputation was NOT created at the SEAL Teams,,,, At BUD/S students will believe just about anything they are told by an instructor. Most of the instructors are great guys,,, some are there for their ego and because they are not taken seriously in an operational Team.
Jerry Peterson was a Martial arts instructor/snake oil salesman that had a contract to teach SCAR's at BUD/S. SCAR's was Jerrys program. Many people said it was San Soo kung fu. Jerry's reputation came into question after several tall stories he told. Lew and jerry became best of friends and until Jerry accused Lew of stealing his program and renaming it SAFTA. SAFTA was never taught in the Teams. Lew's reputation was that of a knucklehead,,, and was not based on anything he ever did.
Big Jon Hess is probably one of the worst UFC Performers ever. The technique sucked big time. Check out the fight Hess vs. Belfort. You´ll see how bad SAFTA is.
@keijimuto - it worked didn't it? Fucking idiot in a real fight and I've had over 50 street fights it's very different than what you see in UFC. There's no real technique but just survival so wise up. I wish I could've learned from Lew or Jerry but now I could learn from Blake and Tim and even though they seem to not be getting along I give them both credit where credit is due. Now as for MMA it's great to watch and to get into for great workouts but not for protection on the street.
@keijimuto - Please it's called practicing! You don't have to go full force and if you've done your homework it's all about getting the balance and coordination skills necessary to attack specific targets that disrupt the functioning of the human body causing it to break down. It's scientific and I feel more efficient than other systems. Now I do look for tips from everyone so I don't limit myself to just this family of fighting. It's just that these guys do cover most of what I look for.
@Revelation21st You are a very poor advocate of any style of fighting. You have huge internet balls and that's about it. By the way, MMA stems from 'real' martial arts but the deadly attacks are taken out for competition. MIXED MARTIAL ARTS .. it's all in the name tough guy. If you think practitioners of mixed martial arts can't kill, you have your head way too far up your ass and you've been brainwashed into thinking your "style" is the best. Show everyone in the ring or the octagon...
@PriusRider I think the price is up to 90 do to it's rarity. Most were bought up MMA trainers because of it's expertise. That's why these MMA fighters are getting better and better. How do you think most of these new champs got their belt?
I type fast and if you notice N is right below H. It was a mistake buddy and let me let you in on a little secret, that kind of shit happens. Get over it buddy.
@giallo5678 -ROFL at yr mom buying u a SAFTA dvd...thats gold dude..IU'm still laughing...Now i'm gonna youtube Vitor punching the fuk outa big Jon Hess....cheers
Goodness gracious! He repeats the same left rotation move over and over again it is so easy to catch the pattern. I am a SCARS-trained fighter and we don't repeat moves this way ever.
you need to put the rest of these videos on here. this is fucking great. 5 stars. squeeze my hard boner so good... i just wanted to see how that last sentence sounded on the audio preview
This is a poor example of how members of SEAL team six fight. I had a chance to train with a trainer and member of SEAL team six and he moved nothing like these guy's. His movements were short, compact, and explosive. More or less, he would never enter with, wide open gross movement. At minimum, his basic strikes would incapacitate on impact any part of the body, basically when he touched you, your ass was grass. Since I,experienced the real thing, I am somewhat leery of these concepts.
@knifekali - stop lying guy! Damn next you're going to say you were in the SEAL teams and founder of a new anti-terrorist unit more elite than 6 or DELTA or any spec-ops in the U.S. military. Fucking poser!
Wow! I posted this response two years ago. To clarify, I am not professing to be a "military analyst, " however, I am only sharing from experience. At present, I do train in kali as well as train a couple of correction officers and police officers in blade strategies. My friend that I referred to was instrumental in exposing me to the realities of combat that he endured while in the theathers of Vietnam. Oh and please, show some respect and reframe from using profanity.
@Revelation21st hey, thats my uncle. and yeah he is a seal and he did do some badass shit. i wonder why you call him a poser..is it because you know for a fact that you could never do anything like that or be a seal? im a marine and ive gone through some tough training but i have the utmost respect for him and other seals and i know for a fact that i could never do some of the stuff they do. too bad youll never know because all you probably do is sit at home and play cod..which makes you a poser
@23thunderman- Hey asshole this is Revelation21st renamed 21st Revelation because this was the name I originally wanted but I wasn't allowed to use. First I respect the U.S. Navy Seals and I respect all Special Opperations. I feel that would've been the ultimate job and I wanted to be a part of it when I was younger but a back accident that has me broken to this day prevented me from doing that and I'm sure I would've made it because it's all heart. As for the fighting systems-continue next post
@23thunderman- I respect SAFTA because Lew was taught some good stuff from Jerry Peterson but I still think SCARS is better than everything out there except maybe TFT and that's because I feel Tim goes into stuff Jerry didn't want to go into with the civilian world. Yeah he showed kill moves and coordination and the offensive mindset but I feel since I first got involved with SCARS in 2002 that people have to figure it out themselves compared to Tim making sure people got it. -continue next post
@23thunderman- So plz get your fucking facts straight before you comment! As for MMA it's great to watch and hell I would do it to get in shape BUT I would not rely on it to save my ass regardless what all the youtube fans think. I've been in real world street incidents and a few times I barely survived and it was because I had to get violent as Tim says in TFT. I didn't know it at the time because Tim was with SCARS but it's great to know that I did something that saved me from being killed.
Everytime a random jeep full of dudes with sticks attacks me I use SAFTA too... I watched all 50 videos. (P.S. Bring back John Hess, he'll ko Fedor easy)
TheLodiProject, I totally agree with you that Jerry Peterson's SCARS is a hybrid of kung fu san soo because Jerry was taught by Jimmy Woo also Jerry Peterson is teaching kung fu San Soo in San Diego. He develops scars for the military but this system is more science based and westernized taking out all the Eastern methodologyand most of the principles change such as the five families so it is no longer kung fu san soo I know this because I've trained in kung fu San Soo for years
How dare you guys give this a bad rating :( If I didn't post this SAFTA would still be the closly guarded secret and you would go to your grave not knowing the "worlds most effective training system". But seriously this isn't practical martial arts, just humorous to most of us MMA goofballs so enjoy the ATM robbery I still smile EVERY time I see it
If you only had what it takes to make it in the teams. I am SEAL veteran of the Vietnam War. My son was also a SEAL. If you haven't earned the Trident shut your cake hole.
Furthermore, to reduce this debate to "who can kick whose ass' is equally insensible. If someone knows something useful which I WANT to know, and equally importantly, can effectively CONVEY that information, that's all I need to know.
He (Lew Hicks) supposedly WAS a student of Mr. Peterson, but if you're gonna slam him (Hicks) for not crediting his source, then give Mr. Peterson equal time for not crediting HIS source (his Kung Fu Dan Soo sifu, who gave him the aggressive mindset and strikes which are the basis of SCARS). Peterson even denies SCARS has ANY martial arts basis. Bottom line, do you REALLY care if SAFTA is repackaged SCARS any more than if SCARS is Kung Fu San Soo with the serial numbers filed off, so to speak?
Lou Hicks changed nothing but the acronym and should be ashamed of himself. He developed nothing least Tim Larkin, left Jerry Peterson who developed TFT changed some or most not all of the methodologies and principles of his system to make it his own. So it is no longer SCARS.
You could well be right. SAFTA certainly DOES resemble SCARS (I have the SCARS program CDs, but not the SAFTA ones, I grant you). My whole point was, as neither is presented as an "art", I would view either or both as a means to an end (that being, effective self-preservation) rahter than an end in itself. I know, and have nothing against, either individual...I'll have to take your word for it that Lew Hicks ripped off Mr. Peterson, but for all I know you may well be right.
As you know, somtimes what the student of the original art adds can stand on its own, then it's not a rip off, it's in the same family but a stand alone differnce - like Judo is not wrestling.
Jerry was a 7th degree MASTER of KFSS when he developed SCARS- and they ARE different from each other. The way he taught and what he taught in SCARS was not/ is not KFSS.
Lew H received a black belt KFSS from Jerry and was number 1 student of Jerrys in both KFSS and SCARS, prior to SAFTA via LH.
Cool, I just had a different idea, namely that KFSS wasn't meaningfully different from Jerry's own product, SCARS, or his student's SAFTA system. My main point was that as long as we're talking about a pragmatic, utilitarian SYSTEM, as opposed to a classic, dignified ART, "pride of authorship" shouldn't be a major consideration when efficiency and effectiveness are your criteria.
I need this vid. I could use these techniques on the way to my church. Honestly, use shoulda forked out the cash for the seminar. If Rampage did, he woulda beat Griffin.
Hess was a big pussy and actually blinded Andy Anderson via illegal eye gouges what he was later fined for.

@PriusRider I think the price is up to 90 do to it's rarity. Most were bought up MMA trainers because of it's expertise. That's why these MMA fighters are getting better and better. How do you think most of these new champs got their belt?

Goodness gracious! He repeats the same left rotation move over and over again it is so easy to catch the pattern. I am a SCARS-trained fighter and we don't repeat moves this way ever.

When does he explain how to do the double-knee-bomb that Hess did vs Anderson? That was probably one of the most technical moves I've ever seen.

Since I,experienced the real thing, I am somewhat leery of these concepts.
knifekali 3 years ago
@knifekali - stop lying guy! Damn next you're going to say you were in the SEAL teams and founder of a new anti-terrorist unit more elite than 6 or DELTA or any spec-ops in the U.S. military. Fucking poser!

@Revelation21st

21stRevelation 10 months ago
@23thunderman- I respect SAFTA because Lew was taught some good stuff from Jerry Peterson but I still think SCARS is better than everything out there except maybe TFT and that's because I feel Tim goes into stuff Jerry didn't want to go into with the civilian world. Yeah he showed kill moves and coordination and the offensive mindset but I feel since I first got involved with SCARS in 2002 that people have to figure it out themselves compared to Tim making sure people got it. -continue next post
21stRevelation 10 months ago
@23thunderman- So plz get your fucking facts straight before you comment! As for MMA it's great to watch and hell I would do it to get in shape BUT I would not rely on it to save my ass regardless what all the youtube fans think. I've been in real world street incidents and a few times I barely survived and it was because I had to get violent as Tim says in TFT. I didn't know it at the time because Tim was with SCARS but it's great to know that I did something that saved me from being killed.

Everytime a random jeep full of dudes with sticks attacks me I use SAFTA too... I watched all 50 videos. (P.S. Bring back John Hess, he'll ko Fedor easy)
hansmeyer86 3 years ago
TheLodiProject, I totally agree with you that Jerry Peterson's SCARS is a hybrid of kung fu san soo because Jerry was taught by Jimmy Woo also Jerry Peterson is teaching kung fu San Soo in San Diego. He develops scars for the military but this system is more science based and westernized taking out all the Eastern methodologyand most of the principles change such as the five families so it is no longer kung fu san soo I know this because I've trained in kung fu San Soo for years
zipfreer 3 years ago
How dare you guys give this a bad rating :( If I didn't post this SAFTA would still be the closly guarded secret and you would go to your grave not knowing the "worlds most effective training system". But seriously this isn't practical martial arts, just humorous to most of us MMA goofballs so enjoy the ATM robbery I still smile EVERY time I see it

Furthermore, to reduce this debate to "who can kick whose ass' is equally insensible. If someone knows something useful which I WANT to know, and equally importantly, can effectively CONVEY that information, that's all I need to know.
TheLodiProject 3 years ago
TheLodiProject 3 years ago
Lou Hicks changed nothing but the acronym and should be ashamed of himself. He developed nothing least Tim Larkin, left Jerry Peterson who developed TFT changed some or most not all of the methodologies and principles of his system to make it his own. So it is no longer SCARS.
zipfreer 3 years ago
You could well be right. SAFTA certainly DOES resemble SCARS (I have the SCARS program CDs, but not the SAFTA ones, I grant you). My whole point was, as neither is presented as an "art", I would view either or both as a means to an end (that being, effective self-preservation) rahter than an end in itself. I know, and have nothing against, either individual...I'll have to take your word for it that Lew Hicks ripped off Mr. Peterson, but for all I know you may well be right.
TheLodiProject 3 years ago
As you know, somtimes what the student of the original art adds can stand on its own, then it's not a rip off, it's in the same family but a stand alone differnce - like Judo is not wrestling.
Jerry was a 7th degree MASTER of KFSS when he developed SCARS- and they ARE different from each other. The way he taught and what he taught in SCARS was not/ is not KFSS.
Lew H received a black belt KFSS from Jerry and was number 1 student of Jerrys in both KFSS and SCARS, prior to SAFTA via LH.
sipalred 3 years ago
Cool, I just had a different idea, namely that KFSS wasn't meaningfully different from Jerry's own product, SCARS, or his student's SAFTA system. My main point was that as long as we're talking about a pragmatic, utilitarian SYSTEM, as opposed to a classic, dignified ART, "pride of authorship" shouldn't be a major consideration when efficiency and effectiveness are your criteria.
TheLodiProject 3 years ago
More like Lew Dicks! Who stole SCARS from Jerry Peterson lets give credit where credit is do! The system is SCARS not SAFTA Mr DICKS worked for JP.
